There is a cost for shipping. Still, to ship to my location, that still makes it under $20 for a good brand PSU.
First post for a deal, please be nice. Give pointers on what else I need to do for future reference.

Here's a review

A good deal, but the SmartPower series was probably one of Antec's worst. The review notes a pretty big surge when under load, which ain't good.

I have a 2 Sata hard drives, two ide dvd drives, one 7900GS graphics card -- is this a good PS for it? I've got the Abit Ip35-e board as well

http://www.behardware.com/news/8550/power-supply-failure-rate.html
^An overview of power supply failure rates. The SP 2.0 500w has a 21.6% failure rate.
Luckily, Antec's good with RMAs. Should any of you buy this PSU and subsequently have it die, they're pretty good with timely replacements.

After having one of these running for about 9-12 months, after I powered down my system, unplugged everything and put some new ram in, after powering on my computer it blew up my hard drives (there was a popping sound and a fire), motherboard and potentially the processor. It had a sound like it was charging up, like the machines that are used to shock the heart if it stops.
It is my fault for not being as attentive as I should have been, but there weren't any telltale signs other than the charging sounds to let me know that this PS was going to fail in a big way.
Your risk may vary =P
I would invest in another supply.
Great first post though.

I bought this PSU a year ago. I had to RMA 2 before I got one that worked.
Since that time I have had no problems. My rig is mid level, no OC, no Huge Graphics card. If you get one that works this is a good deal.

this may/may not apply.. what's the diff between smartpower and truepower? I have a 430W TPII that I've been using 7 months with absolutely 0 issues. I paid $37 shipped tho.. I guess that's twice as much.

If that hissing sound is an electrolytic capacitor venting, it will eventually EXPLODE and may cause damage to your motherboard and cpu. I would strongly recommend RMAing the power supply now.

Nothing but power supply failures and loud whiney noise reviews from this power supply. I *almost* bought, but when it comes down to it, the power supply is the heart of your computer. Cheap is good, but unreliable and noisy is unacceptable.

I had one of these smart power 2.0 supplys kill an entire rig minus a hard drive last year.
No noises no signs of failure besides usb devices sometimes disconnecting for a couple seconds which I thought was a MB problem.
When I tried to remove the atx connector I could not due to the plastic being melted together.
About $600 in parts down the drain but antec did offer to replace the power supply WITH THE SAME MODEL if I could remove the atx connector from the MB. I did NOT take them up on their offer.
