I read on some forums that 3rd Party GC Controllers work on the Wii..and some apparently not. Can someone confirm some 3rd party brands that are confirmed to work for VC + gamecube games? Thanks.

save yourself the time and get a nintendo one, they feel less cheap and I've bought 2 3rd party gc controllers only to have something happen (stick a certain way after pushing, button starts to wear down, etc). Had a dog get to my nintendo gamecube controller, and can't even tell besides the bite under the lower part of the stick. :) on a side note, finished my gamecube collection today, woo... (not all games just 48).

I agree, bought a cheap $10 controller a few weeks back and it sucks. Bought a Wavebird a few days later and it is great.

Ya, don't get a Madcatz or anything like that. Wavebirds are really hard to find now (if you want a wireless controller) but wired ones are $17 on amazon

I'm not sure on the quality of the 3rd party controllers but the wavebirds can take a beating. They are around $40 new and shipped from nintendo.com but I don't think you would run into any problems buying them used on the bay.

I also bought a wavebird. Feels nice and solid, it's too bad it doesn't have force feedback though.

Wavebirds rock, but imagine how fast they would go through batteries it it vibrated too? I mean ive had my wavebird since i picked up my wii in december and ive only had to change the batteries once. ^_^

I bought a Madcatz at Hell-Mart and it worked fine but I decided to go ahead and get the Nintendo ones because they just felt a lot nicer (plus I found an orange one). I now have 1 wired and one Wavebird. If you check EB Games the used ones are fairly cheap. I think I paid $11 for the wired and $17 for the Wavebird.

I bought do gamestop wireless GC controllers... I don't play enough GC games on my wii to really drop that much money on premium controllers. I haven't had a single problem with them at all. they work perfectly.

If you're playing any of the VC games (especially 8/16-bit era ones) and you don't mind cords, you'd be doing yourself a huge favor in tracking down one of the Hori Retro GC controllers. It doesn't have an analog stick but it is perfect for SNES or GBA games. I paid $45 for the first one I bought, but I picked up a second one a few weeks back off eBay for $16 shipped.

hmm that's strange my wavebird was like 20 or 25 when i bought it. I'd choose it over the classic anyday as it's wireless.

I don't know why this and many other deals aren't on slickdeals, but check this out if you're still in the market for a GC controller on the Wii.

$4.88 shipped after GCO for Intec wireless gamecube controller.

It isn't as high quality as a wavebird but is dirt cheap and works perfectly fine. I've used 1 alongside my wavebird for a few weeks now. Here's a picture attachment if you're interested.

Gamestop/EB Games sell their branded ones made by Pelican. They come with a 5 year replacement warranty and console protection guarantee. They have wired ones for $10 and wireless ones for $20.

The gamestop wireless one is only $20 and works great. I also have a wavebird, they both work perfectly.

Best 3rd party controller EVER:heart:
Shaped like a chainsaw, vibrates and makes chainsaw noise when you press start
AND its covered in a "unique" blood spatter pattern:yummy:

I love mine, and i havent found a WII yet to plug it into
I just run around the house naked, swinging it all about
scaring the cat

Well if you take my advice.. don't buy it from overstock-sellers who is selling brand new "wavebirds". I ordered one and got a Pelican wireless instead. Ya, it looks fine but its not what I purchased. I sent an angry email and received my full (cost + s&h) refund back. I guess I will lose couple bucks in sending it back though.

Thanks! I was looking for a CHEAP solution. I have several wired controllers, and I even have a wired extension somewhere... but its just not the same. I just picked this controller up from the link you gave for $3.88 shipped with GCO :)

Anyone else receive the controller from CDUniverse? I just received mine and it doesn't even work properly. It's randomly sending signals to move in different directions when I'm not even touching the controller.

Are you sure you're not just getting a bad connection like with any gamecube controller wired/wireless? If you begin the game with the joystick slightly tilted, it sets that position as center until you reboot the controller in the correct position (eg. unplug/plug or off/on wireless).

If not, sorry to hear you've gotten a defective one. I have 2 now and they both work fine. I stil love my wavebird though. :)
