Seems like a good idea... Ralph's is great with double coupons... I'll start off I guess :)
Hot Pocket Calzones are on sale for $1.80; .75 off coupon (5/13 Val) doubles to $1.50. So you pay .30
Scotch Brite Heavy Duty sponges are free. On sale for $1, $1.00 off coupon in the 5/20 Val, so free :)

Thanks for the invite... Although I am not that familiar with how Ralph's and Vons work in terms of couponing, I figure that even with their "higher" prices compared to places like Winco and Super Walmart (in Chino) that you can save more using the coupons correctly and specials just like CVS.
So will be looking forward to see how this works and what coupons you use outside of SmartSource and Valasis.
Was going to think about going to the GG to get lists -- but the impending strike has made me hold off for now.

Cool idea. Have subscribed, although I am not in CA. I do shop at the Safeway equivalent here and am always on the watch for deals. I think our ads are often very similar.
Not sure if your stores have done this, but ours now have a section for 'clearanced' meats, where they put the stuff that has a 'sell by' date of today or tomorrow. Usually these only have a 30% off sticker on them, and often have the 'special price tag' pulled off, but I check these sections everytime I'm in the store, as sometimes they throw a GREAT deal in there. For example, 50 or 75% off, with the 'special price tag' left on, or better yet, a set price of 59, 79 or 99 cents for the whole package. I have bought lots of ground turkey, ribs and roasts from this section.
Now I just wish our stores would double larger coupons. Ours triple coupons up to 39 cents and double up to 50 cents. No competition to do more than this.
I sent an e-mail to Albertsons letting them know I plan to shop much less at their stores now that they have stopped accepting competitor coupons. Unlike Ralphs and Vons they don't double coupons. I have also found their prices to be even higher than the other stores' for the items I buy. Their main redeeming quality was that they accepted competitor coupons.
Here is the e-mail response I received:
-------------
Dear XXXXX,
Thank you for contacting Albertsons Customer Care. We received your email regarding competitor coupons.
We appreciate the time you took to contact us. We will no longer accept competitor coupons because:
Three’s a Crowd – competitor coupons take extra time to process and slow down the lines.
Competitor coupons are difficult to accept as Checkers must enter them manually after calculating savings
Competitor coupons are difficult to account for by bookkeeping.
The grocery industry as a whole has moved away from accepting coupons.
Please be advised that we have forwarded your complaint to our Service Operations Department. Someone from this department will respond you by telephone within 24 hours. For your reference, the case number associated with this matter is XXXXXX.
Again, thank you for contacting Albertsons Customer Care. If we can provide any information or be of service to you in the future, please do not hesitate to contact us by e-mail or by calling 1-877-932-7948.
Sincerely,
Jessica G.

Personally, I do not mind the extra time it takes to process my coupons if that means saving money! If I have a lot of coupons and there is someone behind me on line with just a few items I let that person go ahead of me.
Since when has it been true that "the grocery industry as a whole has moved away from accepting coupons"? News to me. Sounds like a bunch of BS. Translation = no more competitor coupons because they're cutting costs. I hope the loss of customers brings back the competitor coupons or leads to double coupons at Albertsons. We'll see how long they last. Vons brought back double coupons when they tried taking them away...

Ralph's has finally gotten in the Free Community Passover Cookbooks.
Even if you have absolutely no interest in the cookbook you might want to pick one up anyway since there are Ralph's Club coupons in there. The Ralph's Club coupons can be combined with manufacturers coupons for additional savings.
There is a 1. off Sue Bee Honey that can be combined with mfg coupons as well as 1. off 2 Daisy Sour Cream.
It is certainly worth checking it out---especially because it is free with no strings attached.

It is actually a Community Passover Cookbook that has coupons in it. They do this every year.
I found them in the Carmel Mountain Store today. They have some Passover stuff in the produce section and it is there

Thanks. Didn't notice it in the Balboa Ave. store in Clairemont today.
This is the first time I saw them in the Carmel Mountain store this year and I am in there pretty often.
If you do not see them soon- ask someone where they are.
When it comes to the Jewish Holidays stuff sometimes Ralphs forgets to put the stuff out.

Translation = no more competitor coupons because they're cutting costs. I hope the loss of customers brings back the competitor coupons or leads to double coupons at Albertsons. We'll see how long they last. Vons brought back double coupons when they tried taking them away...The problem with Albertsons is there are too many managers left over from the (American Stores Inc.) Lucky days. Lucky was never coupon friendly and those managers always hated the Albertsons policies. Now with a new owner, they're finally able to rid themselves of them.
3's a Crowd was a Lucky policy. Under Supervalu, I expect to see more old Lucky policies return.
When Hughes Markets were around they use to accept competitor supermarket coupons as well as double coupons (although if you used both on one item, they weren't supposed to double your manufacturer coupon). They would have a photocopied list - including a photocopy of each coupon - at each checkstand of most every coupon available from every major competitor supermarket each Thursday morning (supermarket ad weeks use to run Thursday to Wednesday. Sometimes they'd come out with an updated list on Sunday morning, too.). Each competitor coupon - by chain - was given a PLU code. All the cashier had to do was match the coupon to the list and punch in the code. That was great and only a few coupons that didn't make it to the list had to be manually calculated.
In the 90's, Fry's in Phoenix would accept competitor supermarket coupons. They would require that you present them BEFORE the item was scanned. All the cashier would do was change the price on the item(s) or take the $$ amount off at that point.
Smith's in the 90's in Phoenix, use to do "ad match". Depending on the closest competitor, they'd match (change in the computer system for everyone) the price of every item in the competitor supermarket weekly ad (such as every Fry's or Safeway ad price would also be their ad price in addition to their own Smith's weekly ad). If the competitor ad had a coupon, they'd make that the shelf price for everyone, also.
My knowledge of Phoenix grocery chains is due to frequent visits, btw. I once brought back a 10 lb bag of potatoes, Duraflame fire logs, 1 doz. eggs and a 22 lb frozen turkey from supermarket purchases on an airplane. Pre 9/11 days, of course. The only thing I was ever questioned about was the turkey. They wanted to know if it was cooked (after running through x-ray). I said yes but of course it wasn't and they didn't check.
Don't expect Albertsons to ever accept competitor coupons again. They're just not going to do it no matter how much we ask.
The response about coupons is about what Vons said when they dropped double coupons for just shy of 8 months n 2006. After they brought them back their response was "the competitive landscape has changed". In other words, Ralphs stole all of our coupon customers and we're losing market share. Something Vons is trying to do to Albertsons right now.
Tell Albertsons you won't be shopping there anymore period. I've been reading a number of stories about how people are again clipping coupons to make ends meet. I do see people use coupons in the stores and to me it appears usage is on the upswing. But all of the cashiers I have known for years still tell me people don't use them very much.

Did anyone get the "keep saving coupon" in the mail from vons? It's just like the Target clipless coupon. If so are you able to use MQ with these savings? For example on the card there is $1 off of Tava and I also have an IP for $1.50, can I use both?

I totally agree with you.
With higher gas prices and higher grocery prices, people ARE turning to coupon-cutting.
I'm teaching 2 coupon-using classes in June & July, and I expect a huge turnout.

i have to agree with that. i've only been couponing for about 7 months or so (got hooked with kmart's free halloween candy :P).
but even still, i'm finally running into other customers using a lot of coupons much more often in the grocery stores.
my sister in law is a cashier for albertsons and i did ask her about why they are taking away the competitor coupons. she said more than anything else it was a pita for cashiers to enter them and the lines always got backed up. i told her that was really the only thing that kept people like me (couponers) going there and they're going to end up losing a lot of customers because their prices are so high.
we will see i guess.

for those thinking about getting the whiskas for the overage, don't.
i bought the ones the coupons are for, whiskas natural temptations, and the $5 did not get taken off my total. it ended up $5.53 instead of the $.53 it should have been. this was the only item i had i was suspicious might not work because the 'mega' tag wasn't on the price sign. but with how often they don't put tags on stuff i just thought it would probably work anyway. stupid me, now what would make me think that? probably because this kind was the sale price of $1.50 like the other 'original' ones were. confusing, i tell you, confusing! :headbang:
i purchased 2 paper towels, 2 calzones, 3 keebler, 1 mustard, 1 cookie mix, an ensure single, and the cat treat.
i bought the alaskan salmon flavor, 0 23100 27338 9
i noticed right away my total was too high, but the lines were already backed up behind me tonight and people were already ticked at my coupon usage. i'm hoping i can bring this back with my receipt tomorrow and exchange for the 'right' ones to get my $5 back in cash? :sadwalk:
(especially since we don't have cats!)
is it in print anywhere (like in an ad or flyer) all the items that are on for this sale? it sure would make things a lot easier to walk around the store with something to verify against.
insult to injury: i just realized i forgot to pick my change up out of their stupid coin machine.. AGAIN. they must make a lot of money from people who do that, all in the name of moving the lines along faster. :(

The temptations worked for me today. I did buy a keebler, though, and that didn't count. I had to point that out to the asst. mgr/cashier and she gave me credit for it. Check the price of your keeblers and see if all of the prices are correct.

I ALWAYS pay with either a credit or gift card but ONE day when I was at Vons during the Nascar Rally promo, my total was only 15 cents or some ridiculous amt and I didn't have a vons gift card, so I paid cash. Yup.... u guessed it...... totally forgot my change! I vowed from then on....... no more paying cash!

I bought the same two kinds of Whiskas that are pictured in the ad (I believe one was yellow and the other green) and those worked fine. They also had Mega Event tags in the store.
You have to be careful with the Pillsbury products too. Some of those are included in the sale and others not; look for the Mega Event tags. The first Ralphs I went to didn't sell the 4 crescent roll package which is included in the Mega Event, but a second Ralphs did. It was $1.00 after you buy 10 items and I used the $.25/1 coupon plus $0.25 off Shortcuts coupon for a final price of $0.25.

for those thinking about getting the whiskas for the overage, don't.
i bought the ones the coupons are for, whiskas natural temptations, and the $5 did not get taken off my total. it ended up $5.53 instead of the $.53 it should have been. this was the only item i had i was suspicious might not work because the 'mega' tag wasn't on the price sign. but with how often they don't put tags on stuff i just thought it would probably work anyway. stupid me, now what would make me think that? probably because this kind was the sale price of $1.50 like the other 'original' ones were. confusing, i tell you, confusing! :headbang:
i purchased 2 paper towels, 2 calzones, 3 keebler, 1 mustard, 1 cookie mix, an ensure single, and the cat treat.
i bought the alaskan salmon flavor, 0 23100 27338 9
i noticed right away my total was too high, but the lines were already backed up behind me tonight and people were already ticked at my coupon usage. i'm hoping i can bring this back with my receipt tomorrow and exchange for the 'right' ones to get my $5 back in cash?
Yep - you are right, the NATURAL Temptations are not included, but the original ones are.
As per my Ventura store too.
I bought 3 Keebler yesterday and they all counted =)

yep, all my keeblers rang up right - i did notice that different kinds were on sale @ different prices on those. i only took the ones that were $1.50, and they all rang correctly.
so do you guys think i should be able to take these cat treats back and swap for the other ones and get my $5? i've never had one of these deals not work for me, so i'm not sure how easy or difficult it will be to fix.
I vowed from then on....... no more paying cash!
that's a good idea, i need to start doing that because i leave my change behind so many times just because i'm not used to having to pick it up myself.

It's not easy to fix, especially since you don't have more coupons.
I would just chalk it up to another learning experience... we've all had them.
Make sure to buy the items with the tags (because then that's easier to prove that you bought the items when you have to walk the manager around the store to prove it. =)

1. Is the Ralph's promotion still going?
2. I know the items are mix and match but do I have to buy 10 of the 10/15 and 10 of the 10/10 or can I buy 5 of the 10/15 and 5 of the 10/10?
I did the deal yesterday and wasn't sure so to be on the safe side I bought 10 of each, but I want to go back and I don't 10 of each again.
As for the temptations, I saw that the free ones wouldn't work but needed the treats so got the regular ones but completely forgot (pure accident I promise) to take out the free q and it took off the original price, not the $.50 that I was charged. I told the cashier about giving her the q on accident but she said not to worry.:)

You can do a mix of 10 of 1.00- 10 of 1.50, etc but just make sure you get 10 participating items or 20 or 30 per order. IE as long as you get 10 items in any category it will take off the 5.

If you are in the vicinity of UCLA, in the (free) Daily Bruin today, Thursday 4/10, there is a coupon for a FREE Medium Iced Coffee at McDonalds (no purchase necessary). This is basically the same coupon that was in the L.A. Times delivered editions on Tuesday and in the snail mail this week. Those were in a glossy McDonalds insert but this is just in an ad on the next to last page in the Daily Bruin. Good in Los Angeles, Orange, Ventura, San Bernardino and Riverside counties thru 5/5.

Ways to get more socks FREE per order:

Albertsons would have accepted them until their recent change in policy on 4/1 of no longer accepting competitor supermarket and drug store coupons including these types of coupons.
Vons, Pavilions and Ralphs will accept any other supermarket issued manufacturer coupon (a manufactuer coupon that also has a store name on it). This has been their policy for many years. Ralphs will double them as long as they start with a 5 (checkout coupons don't double). Vons isn't supposed to per polciy but YMMV (more likely, they will double them).
Also, Vons (and sister chain Pavilions) is now accepting competitor supermarket (retailer) coupons. It's up to the LOCAL store manager to accept or reject a specific coupon or accept them at all. Ask before you get in the checkout line. We haven't had anyone in the San Diego area post a location where they accept them but they certainly are accepting them in the Los Angeles area.

Sometimes they will let me use at Vons but sometimes not. Definitely YMMV.
Shopping at Ralphs on Tues., 4/15, I found the deals below. Not sure if these items are still on sale the week beginning 4/16.
Glade air freshener $1.29. Combined .75/1 (4/13 SS) with BOGO Free coupon and got 2 for FREE. Looking at my receipt, it appears that the .75/1 coupon actually doubled for some reason, so I even got $0.21 overage on this deal. I only had one of the .75/1 coupons. Could I have used two .75/1 coupons plus the BOGO Free coupon on the purchase of the two air fresheners?
Purex liquid ultra concentrated detergent $2.50 - $1/1 = cheap laundry detergent ($0.50)
Nestle bottled water 24 pack was $3.99 - $1/1 printable (www.everydayeating.com, remember you can print a second coupon if you hit the back button and then refresh) = $1.99, a good price to stock up
Muir Glen organic tomato paste $1.49 - $1/1 printable (www.eatbetteramerica.com) = FREE. These were not with the other canned goods/tomato items but rather in a separate section with organic/health foods.
In addition to the Brut deodorant which is $1 and free with the $1/1 coupon, there is a Brut comb for $.99 in the trial items section.
I found a great looking fresh Empire kosher turkey original price $61.xx marked down to $21.xx! Manager Special (sell by date was approaching and they had plenty of turkeys available).
Tried to use the $5 off any "floral item" coupon from the Passover recipe booklet on a $4.99 vase and the coupon wouldn't scan. They wouldn't let me use the coupon on that item even though it didn't specify a minimum price. They said the coupon says "selected varieties" and that's not one they selected!
Neither of the cashiers I had tonight had ever seen an internet coupon before. Amazing. They had no idea whether Ralphs accepts them or not. The manager said they take them as long as it's not a free item coupon.
I had a $2.00 off "any" Excedrin coupon which I tried to use on a $1.19 trial size. The cashier had no idea what to do. I explained that I purchased the trial size and she should manually enter the coupon value as $1.19. She showed the coupon to the manager who stared at the coupon for AT LEAST a few minutes with several customers waiting behind me on line. I have no idea what he was thinking about for so long. Then the cashier did exactly what I had suggested...
The cashiers also entered the incorrect codes on two of my produce items, resulting in a higher charge which I had to point out to be corrected. Do you choose cashiers with the "years of experience" noted on their name tag so you avoid clueless encounters like this, or choose the newbie cashiers in hopes that they will double all your coupons and give you overage?

I thought they only double to the value of the product, so no overage:confused:
Unless of course the coupon is a $1 off 2 which then would double and cancel out a $2 cost. The Ralphs computer system has quirks that allow you to get the full double coupon value if you have like or nearly like items that are priced at just the face value of a coupon (or slightly more/less). This is how to maximize your purchases:
Examples:
Brut $1/1 coupon. Buy TWO Brut for $1 each and using JUST ONE coupon it will double to $2 giving you TWO FREE on a coupon that requires just the purchase of 1. If you purchased just ONE for $1, coupon will not double.
Now, if you try and use 2 $1/1 Brut coupons when buying just 2 for $1 each, the second coupon will beep since $2 has already been deducted from just the first coupon.
Butler G.U.M. toothbrush often goes on sale for $1. When there is a $1/1, buy 2 for $1 each on ONE coupon and coupon will double to $2.
L'eggs Socks. Some are now 1/2 price for $1.49. Buy TWO and get TWO free. Use both the $1/1 and .55/1 that I previously posted and the first coupon will double ($1/1 to $2 and .55/1 will be .55 face and .43 double if presented in that order. If you present the .55/1 first, that will double and the $1/1 will double another .88. Total $2.98 off = 2/FREE). Socks don't have to be an exact match, just both L'eggs and both $1.49 each.
HTH. If you need more clarification of the quirks of the Ralphs computer system, post again.

The cashier would have to manually enter the $1.29 on the BOGO coupon as it would beep since the "value" of that item(s) has already been exceeded. Likely what happened during your order with just the 1 .75/1 and the BOGO coupon.
As for the Excedrin, since it is repackaged by "Handy Solutions" who gives it THEIR UPC code, the coupon is always going to beep. Even if it was a $1/1 (I know yours was $2/1 for a $1.19 item), it would have beeped.
I "know" lots of cashiers. I find the newer cashiers don't know what to do if a coupon doesn't just "scan". I tend to go to veteran cashiers as they know how to get around any problems the system may cause. They have what's called experience (just avoid the few coupon "haters"). That's invaluable to us coupon shoppers with problems we always encounter. At least they know how to "fix" those problems without calling a manager (who tends to be even more clueless anyway).

I noticed this thread is only 4 pages long now. Is that why my subscription keeps getting knocked out. I've had to resubscribe twice in the last month.
We did have a lot of valuable info. in this thread. I'll reconstruct all the Southern California grocery stores who have double coupons and their rules (not just Ralphs, Vons, Pavilions but also stores such as Hows, Keils and Scolari's).
Maybe we could make all the stores rules - including those that don't double but may offer other good values - the wiki? What do you think?

I also had the same problem as CalItalian with not continuing to receive updates to this thread, which was unexpectedly shortened to 4 pages.
In the future, if a thread is about to be shortened it would be helpful and appreciated to be notified in advance so that we can save a personal copy to our hard drive before the information is deleted.

FYI - you can only have 20 coupons added to your account at any given time, so be sure and click on the 20 you want, because once you've clicked them, there's no UN-DOING it until you buy the item.

anyway, what i wanted to say - heads up for those with new Vons stores. i got a postcard looking coupon in the mail today. it has 2 coupons for $10/$50 grocery purchase and a $25 gc with transferred Rx. the $10/$50 says it can only be used after club savings and AFTER all other coupons have been deducted. :vomit:
what a waste of paper, i can't even send it to someone else because it specifies the new store location address. :sadwalk:
an optimistic question though, if i do a living well promo twice in the same transaction, would i get 2 $10 cats? this $10/$50 might be good for me if i can use it that way..

In the Stater Bros ad for 4/23-4/29, there is a manufacturer's coupon for $2 off (2) 24 packs of coke, expires 4/29.
At Ralph's this week, each 24 pack is 4.99 when you buy 2. Final price after double $2 coupon is 3.49/pack+ crv.
In the Vons ad, there is a store super coupon for (1) 24 pack of coke for 3.99 with $10 min purchase. I think the 24 packs are 5.50 this week without the super coupon. So 9.49 for (2) 24 packs after double coupon is 3.25/pack + crv.
In the Northgate Market ad for 4/24-4/30, there is is manufacturer's coupon for $1 off (3) 2 Liter bottles of any coca-cola company product, expires 4/30. At Ralph's 2-L bottles are 1.25 each- with coupon when you buy 3= 0.58/bottle + crv

Some match ups from the "organic" coupon book at Vons....
* the register let me combine the Vons Free OB tampon coupon with a $1.00 off any OB manufacturer's coupon (from inserts) for $2.00 of overage
*the register let me combine 2 of the Vons $1.00 off any Suave haircare coupon and use them together with the $1.00 off any 2 Suave from the Sunday inserts. I wasn't sure if the register would let me use two of the Vons Suave coupons in one transaction, but it did. I really wanted kids shampoo and the Dragonfruit 2-1 was on clearance priced for $2.09 each ... mostly free shampoo!

There are no tags to identify the participating products in the INSTANT $4 off 4 deal other than the 4/$10 advertised price. I picked 4 products & asked my cashier to scan them first and total to make sure the $4 came off. I would hedge my bet that any 4/$10 tagged product works for the deal.
I bought Strawberry Chex .75/1 (4/20 SS) (3/16 SS - expires 4/26)
Honey Nut Cheerios $1/2 (3/16 SS, 4/6 SS, 4/13 SS)
Nature Valley Roasted Nut Crunch .50/1 (4/20 SS)
Total was $1.50 for all 4 items. You can pick other items but I believe Strawberry Chex was the only Chex on special.
I don't know why but the .75/1 Chex coupon beeped & needed to be overridden. It is for the product.
I used the $1/2 4/13 SS on the Cheerios and it went through without beeping. Cheerios isn't listed on the coupon.

I received a flyer in the mail from Ralphs that, at least in the San Diego area, they are discontinuing their Wine, Pet and Senior Clubs effective May 31. Instead they are starting a new Ralphs "Rewards" club. Starting Wednesday, you can go to Ralphs in San Diego and fill out an application to receive the new rewards card. It will be a point-based purchase program. For every $ you spend, you will receive a certain number of points. They will then send you a quarterly rewards certificate "good as cash" based on your purchases. I believe the flyer said the max rewards certificate is $250.00 each! This is only good for San Diego area Ralphs stores. According to the flyer, YOU WILL ONLY RECEIVE REWARDS POINTS FOR PURCHASES MADE AT SAN DIEGO AREA RALPHS STORES.
The Rewards club is good for purchases for all items in the store except the typical exclusions (milk, liquor, lottery, prescriptions, gift cards, etc.), not just the pet and wine departments.
I also noticed that my Ralphs had taken down the "DOUBLE COUPONS EVERY DAY" banner and instead replaced it with the Rewards program banner. The manager told me that the Rewards plan is NOT replacing the double coupons; they will continue to double coupons. They just want to advertise their "new lower prices" and Rewards program. I sure hope she is correct.
Regarding the "new lower prices", the manager claimed that Ralphs (at least in San Diego) will be lowering prices on "a ton" of items in the store. Not just a few SKUs - a major overhaul. This is all sounding good if it's true...
With the price changes and Rewards card program, the manager said this is a huge project in San Diego.
It looks like the LA area got competitor coupons at Vons, and the San Diego area got a rewards program at Ralphs...
I spoke with a manager today and she said she thought the points were based on your purchases BEFORE coupons, which would be great!! But she wasn't 100% sure. If it's after coupons, that's of very little value to us...

Nothing in the new Los Angeles Ralphs ad about a rewards program. Double Coupons Every Day still listed at the bottom of the new ad. Nothing about lower prices, either. They're still touting their $4 prescriptions.
Ralphs is the #2 chain in San Diego but #1 in Los Angeles so they're at a more competitive disadvantage with fewer stores than Vons in San Diego. Might be a test market for a Kroger rewards program. San Diego is often used as a test market.

Hi CalItalian,
Can you clarify which four items you purchased? Did you buy 2 boxes of Honey Nut Cheerios and use a $1.00/2 boxes Total coupon? Did the .75 off the Multigrain Cherrios from shortcuts work on the honey nut? TIA!Shortcuts must be used on each specific product (Total, Chex Strawberry, Multigrain Cheerios). No exceptions since the cashier has nothing to do with it.
As for the GM cereal $1/2 manufacturer coupons, they seem to work on ANY GM cereal product without a problem. All they had left was Strawberry Chex so I bought 3 in one order + 1 package of Nature Valley Granola Bars. The .75/1 Strawberry Chex specific coupon, first coupon scanned, beeped again but was overridden. Then I used a $1/2 GM cereal coupon that doesn't list it and it scanned and doubled without any beeps. Also, the .50/1 Nature Valley Roasted Nut Crunch coupon I posted scans without beeping on ANY Nature Valley bars. That helped me too since the specific product was OOS.
Remember, today is the last day for the $4 off on the 4/$10 GM sale.
Next weeks ad is pathetic, btw. Hopefully we'll find some better in store specials.
Maybelline products at 50% off might be the best deal. There are $2-$3 manufacturer coupons in the 2/10 RP and $1-$2 manufacturer coupons in the 4/27 RP.
Colgate Total Advance, Total, 2in1 or Max Burst 4-6 oz. $2.50 less $1/1 (4/13SS, 4/27SS) = .50
Dole Juice Blends 64 oz. refrigerated $2 less .50/1 (3/30RP) = $1
Eggo BOGO. There is a .55/1 in the 4/6RP. Use 2 for $1.65 off.

I should also mention that the Ralphs snail-mailed coupons are NOT Ralphs Club Card specific. They can be used on anyones Ralphs Club Card. Your club card purchases do determine which ones they send you, though.
The manufacturer coupons also will be doubled and/or could be used at any store as they are not imprinted with Ralphs name on them. All of the manufacturer coupons start with a 5.
If you don't get them at home, you can have them give you a form at the Ralphs service desk to add or change your address on your Ralphs Club card.

A 50 cent coupon will still be doubled up to 1. but a 75 cent coupon will only go up to 1. also. A 1. coupon will only be face value....in other words the max double will be 50 cents.
I wonder how long it will take before Vons changes their policy as well.

That would bring them in line with Kroger's Fry's double coupon policy in Arizona. The president of the Ralphs division recently came from Fry's division.
Vons once tried reducing their highest value duoubled to .50. They got so many complaints after 1 month, they went back to their previous policy.
I suggest we do the same all over again.

 :eek:eek:  : I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news but I was just told as of May 7th or 17th (she did not remember which) Ralphs will change their doubling policy.
A 50 cent coupon will still be doubled up to 1. but a 75 cent coupon will only go up to 1. also. A 1. coupon will only be face value....in other words the max double will be 50 cents.
I wonder how long it will take before Vons changes their policy as well.   :mad:I see you are in San Diego. I wonder if this is all for San Diego (lower prices, rewards program, new double coupon policy). I asked tonight about lower prices and rewards program in L.A. and they said no plans for it outside of San Diego. It is a test for now.
Vons also reduced their prices when they tried for one month lowering the double amount to .50. At the time, they were trying to compete on price with Lucky.
It will take all of two seconds for Vons to change their policy unless they really want to go after Ralphs customers. I wouldn't give good odds in Vegas on that but I was a little surprised that they started a program to accept competitor coupons.
Has everyone noticed that Ralphs over the last month or so has no longer been advertising items in their Sunday ad with the final price from the coupon inserts in the Sunday paper? There are still co-op ads in the inserts but not their own ad which is now just one page. For years it was two pages and full of coupon items.
If it was mentioned the 7th or 17th, you can bet it will be the 7th. The 7th is a Wednesday. Ralphs has never changed or altered its coupon policy mid-week. I've been through the day they went from Unlimited double coupons to 3 like, the day they stopped accepting expired coupons (they would take them even if they were 20 years old), the days the went from 3 to 2 and 2 to 1 like coupons. This would really suck.

Now, I have two stacks, each about 5 feet high. At the moment, they date back to the beginning of 2008 but I need to "purge" some of them this weekend since the coupons have expired.
My fav cashier still likes to tell the story of the assistant manager my cashier knows who also cried and threw out thousands of dollars in expired coupons.

I know shopgirl24 has posted about Vons policy only accepting 2 or 3 like coupons(per week). My stores are now enforcing this. Ridiculous...I could understand limiting frees or printables, but all likes? Couldnt get through all my metrx coupons for the living well deal because of it...even though there were plenty to purchase. Vons could have had more sales. Coupon queen do your Vons do this over in your area?

They are only enforcing it per transaction(manually), but the written policy (on the back checkout corral) is per week.
Also, a cashier told me they were "watching me" and the cashier was told "check all my coupons" because of my low to no oop transactions. I thought she was kidding, but she said she was told that. I always use coupons on the proper products and never ones that will scan for others so there is nothing they will see whilst "watching.":shake: Still the cashier went through with a fine toothed comb laying all the products out.

The Vons that I usually go to is a smaller Vons but the employees are wonderful.
They take the coupons I use without a question (and I use all kinds including a lot of Internet Coupons) but I usually am very modest in what I give them. I would not think of giving them 20 of the same coupon at one time.
They do only double the first one but they will also take expired coupons from me as long as they are within reason datewise. They were the ones who told me it was okay to use expired coupons--I never suggested it.

She or someone wanted to know why I have been shopping each day and going to the same cashier (this was during the Ralphs $5 off 10 items promo week -I went everyday). My cashier was able to tell me before I put my stuff on the belt and I was p.o.'d so I pulled out of that line and went to another cashier I have known for years. I won't tolerate being singled out.

Wow this is terrible that they are singling ya out. I've noticed that the supervisors that have worked at the local Ralphs have switched out though. Seems like they rotate them to different stores.
So I've asked 2 Ralphs stores tonight about the changing of double coupons and this is my responses I received:
1) I've had other customers asking the same questions as you and have not heard anything new
2) The reason Ralphs has double Qs is to stay above the competitor. Basically did not know anything of this either.
Note store #1 is in Orange County and Store #2 is in LA County so no news is good news HOPEFULLY.

On a good note hopefully you are all getting your ensure as I've been getting my cats as well.

Does singling you out consider harassment or discrimination?
How about complaining not to customer service but upper management? Document everything including possibly using your camera phone(may get you thrown out).
Cough! Cough! Youtube!
Call the CEO or another corporate management or at least their administration assistant.
Try contact your local media and see if they interested in story about Vons employees specifically store management harassing you for being a frugal conscious shoppers.
A video version of the harassment will knock some sense into them. Post it on You tube, share it at SD and other shopping website including dedicated sites like Grocery Game and Coupon Mom. Share it with the media and possibly other interesting sources like the competition. Spread it like a infectious plague across as many media channels as possible.

I believe criminal harassment is only for employees.
I worry more about what the poor employees are going through. I've posted this before about the Ralphs locations in Westwood and West L.A.. A female assistant manager from Westwood who's father works in upper management at Ralphs, makes it her duty to bust long-time employees and get them fired for not strictly adhering to company policy. She's done this a number of times. She will sit for hours in the office and zoom in on the cashiers via the cameras above the checkstands looking for any infraction. The union has stepped in and helped some of those employees regain their jobs. It's making for a very uncomfortable working situation in at least two store locations. Nobody likes her including the store managers but they can't say anything since her "daddy" is a Ralphs big-wig.

I would guess that they are trying to see if you and the cashier are in cohoots and either not charging for everything or putting thru coupons that aren't supposed to be used.
I have one cashier at the cvs in Quail Hill that tries to check me out when I go there. Even if there is only me in line and one person almost done she will open a new register. If I get up to the cashier and she sees it's me, she will tell them they can go to lunch and she will finish up.
She ALWAYS has SOMETHING that she will refuse to take. The last time she did that I wouldn't take no for an answer. I was trying to use the $3/$10 cvs and $1.00 Simply Devine Cookies (buying one buff (1.49....... says cvs on the price tag), one twin pack of Simply Devine Cookies ($5.00..... says cvs right on it) and cvs $3.99 rapid release pain reliever. She stood there trying to tell me...... still doesn't add up to $10!!!! Meanwhile a huge line formed. Finally a manager came by and said to take it. :lmao: :lmao:
THEN my receipt jammed. I told her........ receipt is stuck, and my ecbs won't print out if it's stuck. I will bet there was some way to get the machine to stop printing, but she stood there and watched it. Threw my bag on the counter and said........ NEXT!
I just stood there asking for my receipt. She said....... You don't get one!
I said...... well there were ecbs on it and she says YOU DON'T GET ANY! NEXT!
No way I was moving without my receipt. Manager comes back over and says oh it should print when I put the paper back in right. BUT NOPE! Nothing, cuz the entire thing was done printing, just a jumbled mess.
So right in front of Mean Mary, he asks how much it was in ecbs and handed me $21 in cash!!! :lmao: :lmao:
She still tries to check me out tho so I try to avoid that store.

If anyone hears anymore about Ralphs no longer doubling, let me know. That would be horrible for me, as I really only CVS and Ralphs for deals.
Went to Ralphs today and couldn't spend too much time shopping, but here are some deals I did. I'm going to go back tomorrow and browse some more hopefully.
Almond Breeze Almond Milk $3/5 (I used the $1 off 2 from the Mambo sprouts book)
Suave deodorant $1 (Use the $1 off 2 to get 2 for FREE)
Cliff bars $1 (Used the $1 off 3 from the Mambo sprouts to get 3 for $1)
Mission Tortilla chips $2.50 ($1 Q from paper or use printable) = 50 cents
Luna Bars $1 (use $1 off 3 from Mambo Sprouts) = 3 for $1
Juicy Juice Harvest Surprise mango was clearance $1.47 (use .75 off from 4/27 insert= FREE)
Frigo Cheese $2.50 (use $1/1= 50 cents)
Kotex pantyliners were clearance 74 cents, I think there's a $1/2 Q out there, so 2 FREE
Also, Ensure singles printed out $1 OYNO Catalina, making it a money maker. I'm glad I used up my last 4 that expired today! There's still more $1/1 Ensure that expire 6/30/2008
Nothing spectacular, but I didn't really have a chance to browse as I was in a rush. I'm sure there's lots of hidden deals not advertised.

Yes, retail employees can harass their consumer. In the movie One Hour Foto with Robin Williams, the character was obsessed with a entire family.
So employees can be obsessed on causing difficulties for a customers like coupon users. They may think the coupon user is cheating their company or something.
--------------------------
As for long-term employees getting fired, you better wake up. This is done in many other industries. The need to cut cost, reduce overhead etc etc etc is being practice all over the US. Replacing older or longer term worker with cheaper and less benefits employees is common practice.
Big 3 Auto offering long term employees early retirement packages. Laid Off's. If a manager or HR department in creative enough, they can find almost anything to terminate a employee. Some call it At-Will Termination. Unions power is dying.
As in the Ralph's case, if you can stop paying a cashier $20.00 hour plus great benefits with a cheaper, younger employee for $13.00 plus limited or no benefits possibly part time. Just think how much you going to save. An incentive for for store manager and upper management.
Just a warning to retail employees, there is a new trend in employee contracts for new employees at new jobs. When you join a company, there are implementing a new clause in certain states that company can reduce your pay and benefits within reason at any time for economy issues. This is perfect for states with weak Employee rights protection laws.

Just an FYI to ya'll but the Purex 2x went up to $7 for 2 and no longer $2.50 as I went tonight to get more and no longer cheap.
Also since I've been buying the Michalena's entree for $1 with the .50 cent Q, the Q that is inside the package is 50cents off 2 and expires in 2009

Slightly off our deal topic but I wanted you all to be aware of this law.
If your gift card for any retailer has a balance of $10 or less, the retailer (any retailer in this state), upon your request, must give you the remaining amount back IN CASH ON THE SPOT.

Awareness of this law is minimal out there. Kohls is the exception, though. After XMAS, I spent $16 on a $25 gift card and the register prompted the clerk to give me $9 cash. At Macys, a manager had to process the $3.25 left on another $25 gift card.
Multiple Burger Kings claimed ignorance and at least 6 restaurants refused. When pressed, managers claimed that since the card is "reloadable", it can never be cashed out.
Some retailers have taken the approach that "store credit" cards are not gift cards. Barnes+Noble, Target, and Best Buy are the ones which gave me problems. So if you return a product, and are forced by the retailer to take their trashy in-store cards instead of cash, you are stuck.
Merchants have found a way to circumvent the law by introducing these "store credit" cards. The BN and BB cards have huge STORE CREDIT words plastered across the card making them not "gift cards". Target seems to be able to track it via their computer system, since they use the same card stock for "store credit" and "gift cards".
