It seems to insist on a Paypal payment. But Paypal will not allow a $0 amount. Result: Can not place order for $0

You're doing something wrong.

Added the 0$ sub to Computer Shopper (and Western Interiors) to cart.
Clicked Checkout.
Did not create an account (click "Continue Checkout")
Filled in personal info and clicked "Continue"
Next screen updates with your personal info. Click Continue (Under "Special Instructions Box"
Click "Place Order". (There is no Paypal prompt. Yes, there is a box that reads "Quick Shopping Cart will send your order information to PayPal, where you will enter payment information. PayPal offers a variety of payment options.", but your subtotal is 0$ so it is skipped.)

Order placed successfully.

Maybe a nice apology to the OP for giving a thumbs down for your mistake is in order. Reps and thumbs.

My apologies to OP. I stand corrected. Followed your steps, and it worked. Changed to a thumbs up and rep points to OP and to you for the details.

I am still getting "Click on the PayPal button to complete payment for this order. Once payment is made to paypal, you will be redirected to the final order confirmation screen." even after following your directions. Does it matter how many magazines you get?

Also there is an gmail.com e-mail address in the box @ the top of the page. Was it there when anyone else tried?

Hmmm ... yep. (lowpricesubs@gmail.com) is at the top of the screen.

I've just followed the steps again to confirm and I still don't see a payment prompt. Once I get to "Shopping Cart > Billing & Shipping Info > Shipping Method & Instructions > Payment " my subtotal is $0 and the option "Place Order" is available (Push Button under "Payment Method). As far as # of magazines, I ordered 2, but did them 1 at a time.

(The only free subs are:
Bassmaster Magazine (http://www.shop.lowpricesubs.com/displayProductDocument.hg?productId=12&categoryId=5)
Black Enterprise Magazine (http://www.shop.lowpricesubs.com/displayProductDocument.hg?productId=5&categoryId=5)

Western Interiors and Design Magazine (http://www.shop.lowpricesubs.com/displayProductDocument.hg?productId=11&categoryId=5) )

I hope this helps. Can't think of any other reason why your experience is different. Good Luck!

You are not doing anything wrong...they are not reading the whole screen...they are assuming that the place order finishes it, but it doesnt say order confirmation. May or may not be necessary for freebies (might just be lousy site design) but you won't get the "order confirmation" without paying paypal if you push the button

And it looks like they have Ebony and Working Mother magazines for free now.

RE: Paypal payment cut'n'paste from the FAQ page.

4. Why am I being asked to go to Paypal when all I've ordered are free magazines?
If you read that page closely it says that if you have an order that is over $0.00 you will need to continue on to paypal. But once you've gotten to that screen, the order has already been sent to be processed. It is not necessary to go through to paypal.

If your order totals $0.00, you do not have to continue to paypal to complete your order.
It has been submitted and will be processed in the order it was received.

If your order totals more than $0.00, you will need to continue to paypal to pay for your
items. Your order will not be sent in until the payment is received.

How long ago did you submit it? Usually takes a month for them to update it. Weird thing is it says I have 30 more remaining issues, so they added some but now it says" Your current subscription will be expiring in the next few months. To avoid a lapse in service, please take a moment to renew your subscription today." So I have no idea what's going on now.
