***** There is a shampoo called 'Organix' that is $6.99 and has a hang tag rebate form. I've seen these at CVS, Walgreens and Randalls (Safeway). So if you want to use up an ecb and end up with cash, here's a way. I haven't seen any real deals on it yet, but noticed it when I was buying some Garnier the other day at CVS. (Added: Also saw at Target today. They had vanilla, coconut and shea butter scents.) (Added: I saw it at Walgreens, and they had two other scents, involving greenness -- one had tea in it. Same hang tag.) (Added: saw it at Rite Aid 3/27/08.)If you're thinking of doing this deal, think twice. Thanks, I found some, but now I'm looking for light show coupons. Does anyone know if there's any recent ones? Also in today's inserts, there was a $4 coupon for the Wisp flameless candle and $3 on the Oust candle. Would either of those be considered a "Plug-in scented oil product" as specified in the rebate as the other product with the light show purchase? If so, it would make the rebate a real money maker.

As has been mentioned elasewhere if you are using manufacturers coupons you can use ECBs to get gift cards upto the value of the coupons. Obviously the bigger the value of your manufacturer coupons, the bigger will be the value of the gift cards you can get. For CVS gift cards you can select the denomination of the gift card, usually for others it is a preset amount (like for example $15 for Toys'r'us).

I haven't done this lately, but I think it should work. I think the order in which you give the ECBs and manufacturers coupons may be important.

So for example you have a $20 ECB, you are buying $20 worth of Rogaine and you have a $10 manufacturers coupon. Buy $10 CVS gift card and the Rogaine. Give your CVS card and then give the $20ECB. The register should take the $20ECB and show $10 as the amount you owe. Then give the $10 coupon. The register should take it and show your balance as 0.

there are 2 distinct forms

one form limits what you buy (cereal, pop tarts, rice krispies treats)

there's another form that allows Sunshine and Keebler products

Full details in the CVS FAQ...Guide to buying GCs with ECBs and Manufacturer coupons

As for turning ECB's into cash via rebates - many of the Glucose Monitors (Accucheck, Contour, Etc.) have rebate forms inside and can be purchased using ECB's. Just remember to black out (using a permanent marker) the total & your ECB's on the receipt when you send it in. Even though you paid money to earn those ECB's, they show up simply as "coupons" on the receipt and the rebate companies will adjust how much they give you back based on that wording.

If I remember correctly, the Bayer brand monitors have NO LIMIT on how many rebates you can redeem while the Accucheck brand limits you to 2 per household.

Remember, when you are done redeeming the diabetes monitor rebates - please donate the equipment to a local charity who can put them to use in the community...

You must black out (using a sharpie or something) the "total" line and lines containing your ECB's/Coupons in order to get the full refund amount. The fulfillment house will deduct your ECB's from the purchase price of the monitor because the line item says "CVS Coupon". Several people (in other threads) have reported success with the "black out" method to get their rebates. Just FYI.

P.S. Obviously, if you only paid $29.99 for a monitor (i.e. Ultra 2 on sale), then the most you will get back is $29.99. So, have the cashier scan the monitor FIRST and THEN your card so the full price shows on the reciept... ;)

***edit*** The "scan card later" technique may not work at stores with the new reciepts (where your savings are listed next to the item you purchased)...

Wow my local store would crap in their pants if they knew I had 180 ECB or 600.. they literally would ban me or something. I only get 50 dollars of items for like 5-10bucks out of pocket and they get p o'd at that.

I wondering with the new receipt format if this is going to work. The receipt is showing the savings next to the items.

It should still work, when I got a Ultra Mini, its listed on the receipt for $19.99 and no mention of anything saved next to it. Just my coupon listed below for $19.99.

because the regular price for the ultra mini IS 19.99. the ultra 2 regular price is i think 69.99

Even if they scan your card halfway through the sale? I have not seen any of the "new format" receipts with this kind of deal where the card was scanned halfway through - Bummer...

Kind of an ignorant generalized statement to make. To classify the people who like to make their money go farther than most do by taking advantage of coupons/sales/rebates/drug stores as a "subculture" will probably not even get you a passing grade on your freshmen sociology essay.

first you ask then you find the answer then you ask anyway

well it seems after their new revamping of the program the register became smarter. it knows how much the gift card is and it may not work.

i would think as an employee that is so personally concerned about CVS's bottom line would be THRILLED to see the $1000's of dollars spent by people (like me) who would not otherwise shop there and pay CVS's inflated prices.

CVS gets paid by the manufacturer for the coupons we use. Do you really thing CVS would eat the cost of those ECB's.... I doubt it. Only a very small percentage of the coupons we use are CVS coupons that are not tied to a specific product (and thus at least partially funded by the manufacturer).

Nationwide coupons may be different in different areas.

The Beano rebate was in my newspaper coupons (N. Va.)

There is another thread which describes a printable Beano rebate if you purchase 2, 3 or 4 of Beano.

The printable rebate is great for CVS as they have limit 5 in the month of October for free Beano (after ECBs).

It is sad and frustrating as a CVS shopper to have to deal with employees who try their hardest to keep customers from using their rewards and coupons. If it's a legit coupon and ecb why do the employees care? Last night I had an ECB for $5 and a man. for $2 off and the cashier told me I couldn't use both even though the diapers were $8.99! Perhaps as an employee you could tell me why it bothers you so much when shoppers try to redeem the rewards your company distributes? (Sorry if I seem rude but geez...I've dealt w/so many rude people lately!)

I hope that you had better luck than I did! I quit going to one CVS because the cashier never would take my coupons! I don't stack, I just use one valid man. coupon and a crt if I have one and then my extra bucks.(well is that considered stacking? if so then maybe I do stack!) According to corporate, this is acceptable. I don't get it.

Years back, in Illinois, where I am, they passed a law about taxes on purchases. They siad that taxes had to be figured before manufacturers coupons were taken off of a purchase. At the same time, the state said that STORE coupons were considered to be a "sale" price, and therefore would come off before tax. They said that a store that accepts coupons shall accept one store coupon (a sale price they eat) and a manufacturer coupon that they get reimbursed for.

If a cashier is refusing to take ine CVS and one manu-Q, it is probably just ignorance on their part.

They should have let you use both, as said from a district manger's mouth recently, "CVS ECB's are like monopoly money or cash at CVS" I use email coupons, then man. coupons and then finish with ECB's. I would go back and ask for the manager- If that doesn't work call the district manager in your area.

If it's legit I don't care - we can take 1 manufacturer and 1 store coupon (specific to that item) per item. Then Extra Bucks can also be used, 1 $4 off $20, etc. The abuse happens routinely though where people have spent an initial amount of money on their first purchase, I don't know, maybe $20 for arguments sake. They then roll over the ECB rewards for all of eternity, spending nothing additional, ever. It must take so much time and calculation...get a life!

I have several regular customers who I know own multiple Extracare Cards, hit print 100 times when CVS emails a coupon (the dumbest thing CVS ever did) and use it every time they come in, for some reason I haven't figured out yet buy $1000 worth of Gamestop gift cards (for the 2% back at the end of the qtr??), it's these people who I want to punch in the face and throw into the nearest Walgreens parking lot.

It is perfectly legitimate for people to roll their ECB. That is not abuse. Also, you said that emailing coupons was the dumbest thing CVS ever did. How do you know that? CVS would stop sending them if it wasn't resulting in their taking in more money.

Could you purchase w/o using your card and then call to have the ECB's added?

Well, I am glad there aren't people like you working at CVS stores near me. If you keep up this attitude with your customers (the people who are financing your paycheck), you will not have the job much longer. You need to get a life rather than judging or assuming something about your customers. This forum is about maximizing savings using legal means, altered coupons or other means to circumvent the system is never permitted. There is nothing illegal or unethical about rolling ECB over. People do that with Walgreens MIR when they opt for a gift-card for a 10% bonus. You should focus on greeting customers with a smile and punching numbers on the register and you'll do well.

Did that one, but appreciate the effort. Did the Alka-Seltzer liquid, Sucrets, Clear Care, Excedin (4 times), Tylenol, Robitussin, Orajel, Tums, and monitor ones. I get as much of a high from rebates as CVSing (well, almost).

If I am remembering correctly, there is yet another excedrin rebate in the paper tomorrow. I am actually sick of getting this stuff for free. I know that sounds really pathetic but between the cvs ecb deals, a winn dixie here had them for 2/$4 a few weeks back and also target here, I have a gazillion of these and they expire. I try to get the longest exp dates I can and then give them to everyone I know.

I found a budweiser rebate tear pad at target. I posted about it here (I hope I am doing this right!):

I've had rather good success recently turning ECBs into gift cards with buy one get one free manufacturers coupons. I carefully calculate how much value I have for my b1g1 free manufacturers coupons up to a gift card value, ie. like $10 or $15. Then I check out with the B1G1 prods and the gift card and give the CVS $/$$ coupons, then ECBs down to close to the value of my Manufacturers coupons, then finally the Manuf. coupons. I have gotten a few Toys R Us gift cards and Burger King gift cards this way, paying about $2 down to $.43 total for the gift cards and air fresheners, makeup, etc.

I know this is not considered Kosher by everyone, but if the system allows it, it is a blessing to my family since money is tight this Christmas but I have tons of ECBs....

The Key is to pay with the Manuf. coupons last as the register won't allow ECBs to pay for the GC.

If you have other addresses you can use, make sure to break up your Excedrin purchases so you can get more than one rebate.

Also, just sent for rebates for Therabreath. If you can get it, some packages have forms for a $4 rebate for the toothpaste, limit 3. You can use one form for all 3 rebates. The oral rinse has a rebate of $3. Just sent for my $18 of rebates.

Also, in case you missed the post in any of the 5 other threads, Nature Made has a rebate for Rx Essentials. There's a $5 coupon at coupons.com. Print twice and use at CVS while it's BOGOF. Work into a deal and pay nothing, then get a $14.99 rebate.

I'm hoping the monitors go on sale again. Yesterday I got 2 $30 Contour rebates and 2 $9.99 Breeze rebates. I've gotten about 20 all together.

Something interesting, and totally unintentional by me, happened today. I went to CVS to buy a Barnes and Noble gift card ... (and batteries, Gilette shaving cream, and some baby stuff). Well the cashier rang up everything then took off the $5/$15 and a $5/$25 I had. The total at that time was $28.xx. He then tried to ring in the $5 battery coupon. It would not allow him to (as expected I guess ... did my math wrong). So he said he would void the batteries, and did. New total was $23.xx. I thought to myself, hmmm, that's less then the gift card. I handed him a small ECB ... and it rang up. So I handed him more ecbs and brought the total down to $2.xx. There was only one manufactures coupon and that was for the batteries (which by the way somehow stayed on even after he voided the batteries off the purchase) for $1. It looks like, at least from this purchase, that once I broke the total down to under the gift card price, all bets were off.

Ok so here's my theory, not saying it's ethical or anything. (I know there's already a strategy to do this using manufactures coupons).
1) Buy the gift card and all your other 'stuff', including batteries.
2) Use all coupons $xoff/$y etc EXCEPT the battery coupon, and get your total down to less than the price of the gift card + $5.
3) Try to use the battery coupon. When it fails and the cashier says, "I can take off $3.xx. Do you want me to?" Say "No, I'll buy it separate after this, could you take it off".
4) When the batteries get taken off, and your total is less then the gift card total, use ECBs.

Interesting? First post besides thank yous and some trivial stuff ... please be kind.

Well it worked again. This time it was intentional, for education of course. Plopped down a $25 Best Buy gift card and Energizer batters for $5.29. Gave her the $5 off / $15 coupon, she rang it through, then I gaver her the energizer $5 coupon. It would not ring through and she said "might not let you use two printed coupons". I said "ok, I'll buy the batteries separate, could you take them off this order?". She did, the total came down to $20. I then gave her $19.98 in ECBs and they all took. Paid $0.02 for the gift card, then $0.3x for the batteries in the next purchase.

I actually had a very similar situation. I got a $100 Visa Gift card, the Breeze 2 glucose monitor, and the Nova glucose monitor. I was going to use the $50 off of each glucose monitor, and I also had some filler to use the $X/$XX coupons. First, I rang up all the ECB I could before it started complaining (about $105), then I gave the coupon for the $50 off one of the glucose monitors and it beeped. So, I grabbed a candy bar and added it on and then asked her to try the glucose monitor again, and it still didn't work. I tried the coupon for the other, and no luck. So, I had her void both the glucose montiors, and I told her I was in a hurry, so I would just come back tomorrow to pick them up. My total was $5 and some change.

Then, when I got to the car, I was checking everything out, and I realized she gave me someone's prescriptions. I went to the drive-thru to return them, and she said it was messed up because of all my coupons, so she gave me a CVS cash card for $8.

Anyhow, that GC came in handy with Meijer's Santa Bucks coupons... I bought two bicycles for the kids, and still had a little left over (bikes were already $20 off each, and then I used the $14 off coupons on each).

Thanks CVS!

Why $19.98 in ECBs? Are they all individual ECBs which sum up to 19.98? Will it work with $20 in ECBs (the Nova Max ones)?

May be it depends on your CVS. It will result in zero balance and some CVS may refuse it. I had a similar situation I had buy some thing in order to have positive balance.

It was indeed because I didn't want the total to get down to Zero.

for the tylenol i would say its ymmv. i think u should put a note like u were on vacation or something. if u dont need the receipts, then might as well send the rebate in.

for the tote it says must b received by 1/10, u kinda just missed it, again if u dont want the receipt and the barcodes for the batteries u could send it in with a note, its ymmv.

and for the energizer bracelet it says must b received by 1/5 so no luck there as well. sorry.

got my tylenol rebate yesterday. I bought 3 of the handy packs 2.49 with a 2.49 ecb(on two cards so I got 2 2.49's) and used a 5 off tylenol on 2 of them. I was worried about it because on the receipt it just says tylenol 10ct(which is almost exactly the size of the trial size which cant be used for the rebate) so I wrote out to the side "handy pack not trial size". I figured they should know I didnt spend 2.49 on a trial size but just in case.

We can't do the Tylenol rebate here too. They didn't even bother to send me any coupon. IMO, they should have stated on the rebate form that people live in the 4 states (MA, MI, MN and Rhode Island) will not be receiving any rebate.

There are a few more rebates out there:

Glade scented oil candle singles. Was in Sunday paper on 1/13 or 1/20. Sorry, can't remember.

The same paper had a rebate form for Orajel Kids Sore Throat Strips or cold sore brush.

Finally, one for Febreze noticeables. Caveat with this one--this is supposed to be for if it doesn't work. I think it does work, I just don't think it smells all that good.

There is a shampoo called 'Organix' that is $6.99 and has a hang tag rebate form. I've seen these at CVS, Walgreens and Randalls (Safeway). So if you want to use up an ecb and end up with cash, here's a way. I haven't seen any real deals on it yet, but noticed it when I was buying some Garnier the other day at CVS.

I would recommend calling CS to get the ecbs from last month. Then you can buy more this month and get more ecbs. If you return the Sambucols you bought and rebuy them, someone will think you are doing something wrong because they'll think you got the ecbs the first time.

BTW, smomma isn't my real name either!

Money orders are very difficult to trace if they are not cashed, I really don't recommend them. I also think, if you actually DO have all the info to trace them if they're not cashed, that it costs something. Personally, I will not do a money order unless it is a requirement for something I just can't live without. But that's just me.

Yes, I would rather send a personal check.

Let's say, for example, that you never get your Dove bag. Well, if you've sent a personal check, you'll know if it was cashed or not. If it wasn't cashed, at least you're not out the $$.

If you send a money order and don't get the bag, how are you going to prove you sent it? You need to prove the money order was cashed. So how would you 'track' it down, to find that out? Some of the money order companies require a fee to do this for you. And in the meantime, you are out the money, whether you get the bag or not.

Okay, this may be listed somewhere else but I couldn't find it. In the last 6 months we have cut our family income by over half because I chose to stay home with my two small boys. Our budget has been in the red but hoepfully with our tax return we will be back even. All that to say, I have to STRETCH each and every penny.

I am an avid CVSer and often find freebies by using coupons, Catalinas, and store specials at the local groceries. I think I'm now ready to expand into using rebates to get an even better return on my money. I don't want to have to put out money in order to wait 4-6 weeks and hope everything works correctly for me to get my rebate . . . but I would like to keep my receipts and keep an eye out for rebates on items I've already purchased.

Does anyone have any tips for how I should get started? Any methods of organization that work well for you? How long should I keep my receipts? Anyone have a list of current online rebate forms that I can check out against current receipts?

Thanks!

I'm new at rebates, too. But if you pay for something that has a rebate on it with ECBs (at CVS lets say...) then complete the rebate form...you don't really have to put out any extra money, and you get it back in the form of cash.
The others around here could probably help you better...but stretching your dollar is something to be proud of. =) GOOD LUCK!

Go to www.families.com and sign up. They have a coupon database that allows you to search for any product name, and not only will it tell you what week's paper the coupon came out in, they often list if rebates are out too. Another way is to go to sites like couponclippers.com and look in the section "Forms." A lot of current rebate forms are there. They usually only cost 10 cents each, but you have to buy a minimum amount from the site, so unless you have some other coupons you are looking for, you can't just buy the one you want. But, it will give you a heads up that the rebate even exists, then you can go to families.com and try to find out what week's paper it was in. Or, taylortownpreview.com also has a master list of coupons and forms that you can use "Find in this page" on to find a rebate. You do save your coupon inserts, right? Of course, even if you don't, from now on you know to clip all rebates you might possibly use.

Sometimes you can just print out the forms too, and that's good. Usually links to those rebates can be found in CVS topics if that item is on sale. But for ones you have to clip, the above is the best way.

Heads up - rebate for up to $4.99 on any Pledge Multi-surface product is in tomorrow's paper. There was a $1 coupon a while back that you might have for it.

I love rebates, and they have pretty much funded every luxury I've had in the past couple years, so good luck and have fun! It will be profitable, I assure you!

If someone has a bunch of these monitors to donate, please PM me.

Thanks! :shake:

Thanks and Repped!! Did the deal for the GC last night worked perfectly!!!

Great, the deal for the GC worked last night worked perfectly. What deal? The old CVS deal using ECBs to buy GCs by applying Man Qs to the balance due has been dead for many months. Pray tell.

Forgot that old link was still hanging around from the old days, thanks for reminding me Frank! (I went back and removed the links now -- it was a good idea back THEN).

Yep, the old deal of doing that is now dead. Attempting to do that these days only helps to hasten the district manager to write up a "memo of death" (if you can pull it off) for all of your stores.

Many cashiers and management are now trained to catch this and the register is more likely to reject your ECB's now these days.

Here's what I'm going to do:

1. Use up ecb's to buy all the sunday papers that are still out at local stores.
2. Clip the $2 off any olay bar coupon.
3. Go to wag the week of 3/2
4. Buy 2 olay bars for $4
5. Use 2 coupons for $2
6. Collect the $4 RR and put them on a gas giftcard when I'm done!

Free soap & free gas...gotta love it!

The Register Rewards have printed on them that they cannot be used to buy Walgreens giftcards. I am not sure whether that means a giftcard for Walgreens or any giftcard bought at Walgreens. Have you bought giftcards with your RR before?

I guess I was thinking back to the haircolor deal (revlon?) where you bought 2 for $6 and got a $10 RR...I think that lasted 4 days before it was fixed. I was able to put those on gift cards, one at a time....what fun that was! :)

I have an extra mail in rebate form for the Listerine Tooth Defense Anti-cavity Fluoride Rinse. It's the Listerine that's purple, small bottle. $3.79 MSR. If anyone wants it, PM me and I'll mail it to you. It ends up free. I already used this one a long time ago, didn't realize it was from 2007 to 2008. Limit 1 per household. It was a hangtag on a bottle in the store.

I got a similar note for the first one that I had not blacked out...but then last week got 2 checks for the other 2 rebates I sent.

On the contour rebate, it says on the rebate form that the purchase needs to be before 12/31/2007...does it still work ?

I think this happened to me and when I called the 1-800 number they said to send it in and that the expiration date did not apply. I think the CS rep even mailed me a new form with a current expiration date just in case.

Try to give them a call.

I worked the Titanium into a deal today and the Trimmer I am either going to build into another deal and just pay for it outright since its free anyways.

I agree its to bad they didn't have this out a week earlier with the ECB deal. I bought the manual for the ECB deal so buying another manual and trimmer was not a big deal.

Nope, all to the same address. If you look at the wording on the Contour and Breeze rebates, says 1 rebate per purchase. Bayer even did me a favor and combined a number of receipts so I received several checks for around $300. I don't feel too bad since a good deal of that money is going to charity, and while I can't say all of the monitors were used, all of the strips and lancets went to people who will use them.

Wish I could help, but I've only done 2 on one receipt, and that's worked fine. Just another tidbit--I've submitted 1 of each (one breeze, one contour) on a single receipt, and they've been honored. Just pick one of the addresses to send.

I really don't think you'll have a problem. Bayer seams very rebate friendly. I had 2 Breeze on the same receipt and they sent rebates for both. I also was a little skeptical when I sent mine in, whether or not I would see any rebates for the free monitors. I sent 15 rebates in 1 envelope, to save postage, I received a check last week for $149.85 (15 x 9.99).
