CVS Ad/Deals thread for the week of 10/14-10/20 is HERE (http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?sduid=59052&t=619729)

There are two CVS threads for each weekly ad. So, how do you know what to put where?
- Anything that everyone needs to know should go in the Ad/Deals thread (prices, coupons, what worked that shouldn't have, what didn't work that should have). The Wiki post (always the 2nd post in a thread) is updated constantly by users just like you!

- Ask yourself: "Does someone who is checking this thread via dialup before going to CVS really need to know this information?" If not, put it in the Discussion thread!

- Other stuff like questions, scenarios, what you plan to buy, what you bought, how great the deals are, how bad the deals are, chat where you're getting to know other SD CVS'ers etc, should all go in the discussion thread for each week.

Keeping track of all the CVS threads:
Subscribe to the threads you want to keep track of. (See links below)

To subscribe to a thread when you're already in the thread:
- go to the top of the page
- click on Thread Tools on the upper right hand side
- click Subscribe to this thread

To see the threads you've subscribed to, click "User CP". It's at the top of every page on the left. Any of your subscribed threads that have new posts will show in the center of the page. You can also click “View all subscribed threads” to see all threads, whether they have new posts or not.

(You can also 'sticky' every CVS thread to the top (also under Thread Tools), so if you go into Hot Deals or Deal Talk or Coupons you see all CVS threads at the top of the page.)

NEW: Too many pages in your CVS threads?
You can change your settings to show more posts per page, with the maximum being 40 posts per page. (This lets you scroll down more without having to keep hitting 'next page')

Go to “User CP”
Click on “Edit Options”
Scroll down until you see "Use this option to set the number of posts to show in a thread before splitting the display into multiple pages."
You'll see a drop down box where you can select the Number of Posts to Show Per Page.
If you make a change be sure to scroll down to the bottom and click on “Save Changes”

Saw in the deals Wiki that there are $2 Caress and $4 Gillette coupons out there. I'm interested in trading for those if anyone has extras. I can offer up all 3 of the 2/10 any purchase coupons that were in the pharmacy at CVS. Thanks!

G-money... wanted to make sure you see that garnier shampoo/conditioner/stylers are 3/9.99 so you can get your coupons ready.

What is that... 6 for 19.98 -4 -2 -2x6....

Can you have someone videotape the cashiers as you wheel up the cart full of green stuff?

Well I went to my fav store tonight and they didn't have hardly anything I planned for :( so I was flying by the seat of my pants basically. My $51 order was whittled down to $33 or thereabouts. I found some Burts Bee's foot cream for 75% off on clearance. Also found 90% off a bunch of hair stuff - brushes, combs, clips, barrettes, scrunchies etc. Got 3 brush and comb sets for $.50 each :) They didn't have the turbo matchbox car thing I wanted real bad.

Anyway, oop ended up being $3.99 and I spent $6 in ECB's and got $12.98 back in ECB's and a bunch of CRT's :woot: Now I have to rework the big order if I want to go back to that store cuz I know they don't have what I want. I'll also be going to another store(s) tomorrow looking for the matchbox deal so I guess I'll keep the big order as is and use it somewhere else and try to do an order for the fav store. They had the beano so I grabbed 2 of those and did the Caress BW and Jergens deal. So I'm not terribly disappointed - just somewhat disappointed!

Hi Everyone,

One of the noobies here. Just wanted to say thank you to all of those who replied to my post with ideas for teacher gifts. You all helped me to feel more comfortable with the idea of getting lotions, soaps, scrubs, etc. for the ladies. I was worried that these may be perceived as too personal - but not anymore thanks to you!

To GarnierMoney - for your gift baskets for girls 6-17, I'd like to suggest NYC products. I've found a couple of different Qs in the store for these ($0.50 off any, $1.00 off any $1.99). This cheap line of cosmetics seems to be great for that age group. They have some fun nail polish colors for $0.99 before Q. I got several glitter ones, they also have funky orange, blue, green, purple, etc. There is a roller-ball lip gloss for 1.99 and some modest pink lipstick. I've actually been buying these up for my 4 year old "girlie" girls stocking. She is going to LOVE them. Another suggestion is nail art stickers. I forget exactly what they are called. They are from "F'ngers" (I think that is what the name is - I don't have them in front of me) near the artificial nails. The one I got was $4.99. It had a $0.50 peelie Q on it. There are several sheets inside with various flowers and other shapes, so you could actually open the package and stick one sheet in each gift.

Hope it helps!

If you go to your control panel, you can change your settings so that you see more posts per page. I am not sure what the max is, but set it to that. Then you only have like 42 pages to wade through.

 Yes, but it's still a lot to wade through! I hate that I missed most of this week's conversation. I did buy the Propel this evening but only bought 5 - since I wasn't sure what would happen if I bought 10. I'll go back tomorrow for 5 more.

Oh! I finally found the Night Crest in stock today. Was able to get 2 tubes (still now MW) for less than $2.50 oop and got back the $6.58 in bux. That was pretty sweet. I had to do it on the fly w/o my CVS Q folder.

I saw the Night Crest as I was walking OUT of the store! Of course it was not where it was supposed to be! I'll get it tomorrow...

I had fun at CVS tonight. $3.12 on an order that started over $90. Used under $20 in ECBs and got $32 back. Nice!

This would be great if some others could verify, but I unplugged my PC from the net, then plugged it back in via a wireless usb card and was able to print some of the coupons that had said limit reached before, like the renu $2.50 etc.

OK - I hate to do this - but is there anyone here who would like to help me? I am a reforming, recovering targeter who would like guidance towards good deals to get. The wiki in this post is kind of, um empty and thats where I am used to starting. I will rep graciously to anyone who can PM me some links or post some help for me - thanks!!!!!

I live in one of the Select states that does not let me take advantage of the rx gc and even though I live maybe 3 miles from the state border...that state is another Select state that doesn't allow it
does anyone ever mail their prescriptions to an out of stater and do this or would it not go through because the doctors are not from that other state?

I am in Cali now but for the first 2 years I was here my NY doctor called in my prescriptions to a Cali pharmacy and I used my NY insurance to pay for them... hth

You might also have better luck in the "deal" thread, as opposed to the discussion thread- this is where each weeks complete ad is posted and coupons are matched up (the wiki there is a wealth of info :))

ugh.....did you ever have a bad CVS experience that made you feel like you never wanted to go back to CVS again..........

OK well i may be over-exaggerating........i'll probably be fine tomorrow but just had a not-so-great CVS trip - meaning i left everything at the counter and came back empty-handed (and this is my closest and usually coupon-friendly CVS).

i just feel really discouraged. and really disappointed as this was my frist trip out to CVS all week, and after the coupons came out and then were validated by being emailed i was really looking forward to doing a 50 bucks order. anyhoo, the sourpuss cashier saw my coupons and asked me to give them up-front (big mistake on my part to have them out in my hand - lesson learnt) and she decided to lay every single coupon out and take off the amout as she scanned, there was no way she would have let me use my 10 off 50 as the total would never have been 50 (and i'm sure she would have refused my $2/10 and my $2 lumene)........my Johnson's buddies coupon was a couple day's expired (this store usually takes expireds by a few days, i usually ask and the say if the register takes it then it's fine), so she pushed it back at me (and this is AFTER she's already scanned it and it was fine). and my other Johnson's $4 Q's she quibbled over - she then claimed my Charmin Qs were for a different product............ i just gave up at that point knowing i was fighting a losing battle.......i told her politely to void everything and that i'd come back later.

i think i'll go back tomorrow and do a few smaller 20 buck transactions and use 4/20s and 2/10s.........

i'm just kinda bummed as i really need milk and the teething tablets for my little guy.

oh well...........win some lose some......i've done pretty ok til today. never really had a bad experience and to be honest, it wasn't like she was rude or anything.....i guess i'm a spoiled CVS brat and don't like it when i don't get my free milk and other stuff. LOL. boo hoo poor me!

 THANKS FOR LISTENING!

 :comfort: -- try again tomorrow with another cashier or store. There is too much going on with these $x/$xx coupons to get discouraged. :)

yes you'll want to go to the hot deal cvs thread where the entire ad is listed with all coupons (printable and everything anyone has found etc). to get started you'll want to do crest and beano (2 of each will go a LONG way). then roll that into bigger and bigger orders.

since you are/were a targeter you already know about obsession but here you'll get everything for FREE or insanely cheap unlike target where its a few bucks at least each time you go out the doors! :lmao:

i am not sure if you've actually done anything with cvs yet but as a starter order i would get:
2 beanos (if you can find them) 5.98-$1/1 (2) printable q=3.98 get 5.98 ecb
2 crest tp 6.58-BOGOF from P&G-$1/1 (ymmv on using 1 or 2)=$2.29 get back 6.58
=$12.56 subtotal
-$2/10 any purchase (in cvs coupons thread wiki)
-6.29 q's
=4.27 +tax have $12.56 ecb to spend.

you can buy 3 more beano's but your maxed on the crest. create a bigger order with whatever stuff you like and have coupons for to make them nearly free then use one of your new ecb. try to get up to at LEAST $20 for the second order but only use ONE of your new ecb on the order so your making cvs money.

eventually you'll be able to buy everything you need without having to spend real money!

RTH energy efficient bulbs cost (4 pks 13 watts=60 watts) are were marked 9.99 with a $4MIR in the box and i just looked at my reciept and they rang up 5.99!!
so if its ringing up as marked:
9.99-2/10 cvs brand-2/10 any purchase=5.99-4 in rebates= 1.99 plus tax!!! since we're moving i am going to grab a few more boxes (don't know if its limit one but i have 2-4 address' i can use...)

I'm still waiting the $4 rebate for RTH bulbs back in early May.

For the two of you that left your carts at the register do not feel bad... Maybe the cashier had a bad day and its a fluke to say the least or just your district is changing rules. Either way give it some time to avoid that store and go to another store.

I can say from experience that I've done this 2x. , 1st time was only a small lil order in a hand cart and the 2nd time I did it There was like 2 push carts loaded with stuff. The store was not happy with me but I'm going to stand by what I believe and if you can't do it then I ll go to someone that will do it. My tude is make it happen or I'll go to another store, whether it be CVS or another Grocery/Drug store.

You did the right thing. If the cashier had that attitude to start it wasn't going to get any better. I had the worse experience with the cashier from hell. She also laid out the coupons, talked about all of them, told me the 2/10 can only be used at the pharmacy, told me my ECB was not mine because it had a different card number, said this as she pointed to the coupon codes:rolleyes: I felt as if it was no fun to shop at CVS. We need to learn to find humor in this the way Edlind does. I don't know how Edlind keeps shopping at his deathstar CVS. Well good for us because we get to hear all his funny stories:lol:

I think the cashier you had didn't have a clue? The best thing is just to leave and come back and make them take all of the stuff back. The nerve of some people -- they do think it is coming out of their paychecks. Maybe we all need to me more humorous like Ed? :dontknow: -- or was your cashier female and tired of seeing nothing but other females?? -- my survey on the other thread is showing about 90% females shopping at CVS - well above the average CVS expects!!

My initial investment was quite steep as I spent approx. $20 to get $5 ECB which I have since used to get free mouthwash, toothpaste, etc. Now I kindda regret using up the Crest Pro dental deal because knowing what I know now and if I had to start all over this is what I would have done: (hopefully this will help some of the noobs to get started and it requires very little startup money)

So far this is what I can come up with in terms of planning and maximizing the use of ECB on things my family actually need and use (maybe not the Beanos though :lmao:)

I have included links to coupons and threads so beginners can easily follow where everything can be found. Believe me, it took me a loooooong time to really follow what's going on and I'm still learning every day. Cvs'ing is definitely addictive. It's past 1am and I'm tired and yet I feel the need to share my ideas with everyone. Tomorrow I'll sign up for a new card so I can do all the aforementioned deals!! :)

Majorly repped ya!!! Thank you again for posting such a detailed and easy to understand deal!!!

hmm. that doesn't bode well. i didn't see a phone number on there so i am not sure if we can call. that sucks though if it won't come through.

That is why I am still waiting for it. About 10 days ago, I finally contacted cvs.com (since RTH is a cvs brand). A couple days later one person at cvs.com replied to say she was going to contact the RTH rebate people and would let me know when she found out what. That was 9 days ago. And I am still waiting. So I don't want to buy any RTH brand stuff that comes with any rebate.

well i had an easy trip this am... everything in stock. My huggies diaper q's didn't work for my huggies wipes, but i kept them anyway, you can never have too many free wipes.

i tried the fancy coupon handing over to get my tax down and I messed it up. I held back a $5 tylenol q, and got it down where my total was just over $5, but my before tax was like $4.85. I got flustered and forgot that the whole point is that the before tax doesn't matter, it's the after tax total I should be watching. I ended up having her scan an extra coloring book to bump it up to what I thought i needed to use the $5 tylenol. Boo. I just got confused. But I stil left with a cartload of stuff for .80! I'll try again next time I'm at my very friendly store. I did it the other night and it worked out okay except I forgot I put back one of the items that I held a coupon back for. So, my total was almost $2.

Cool -- but let's go over to the other thread -- we need you to lead  and :worship: for CVS there! :)

The cashier thinks the money is coming out of her pocket. When the other cashiers at that store found out they were all sympathetic to me when they met me. One nice cashier told me that one she was trying to help a customer with the extra bucks and this hellish cashier comes running over from the other end of the store to say, "You know why she wants the extra bucks right? She is just going to use it to buy another one." And the nice cashier looked at her and said so what, it is her right. When I heard this story I can only think this horrible cashier just has a problem with the ECBs and people getting things for free. Too bad she wasn't there last night when I spent my $48 ECBs. DH was telling me what to get so I didn't get to do my deal with mostly ECB things and free with coupons so on one of my transactions I didn't even get anything back. And then he says, "See that is how you spend it. You keep saying you need to get rid of one card but you don't know how." And I am thinking, I could have rolled it over a couple of times more. But in truth, I have exhausted all the ECB deals except the Curel and others that are not so great. I should have waited till next week but since the assistant manager I just love was working last night and she doesn't even read my coupons:hug: I felt really good about shopping. Too bad I don't even have anymore HE coupons. I got one P&G in my mailbox yesterday. I was so excited because now I can go buy 3 more HE. I wish I could get my neighbors' because people around here don't use coupons.

Oh and another thing. My store had tons of beanos. Check your stores. They must have received more on Thursday, truck day.

I had trouble doing a return paid with ECB's. Its amazing how even now my local stores sometimes give trouble about giving the full amount as a refund (store credit), saying the ECB's are now gone. You would think they'd get it right by now.

Some cashiers are just like that -- they think it does come out of their paychecks and don't realize the store gets reimbursed for those. As long as the management is :) with you, that is all that matters. Don't let renegade cashiers let you down. Of course, this confirms that coupon usage goes even down to the cashier level. :shocking:

Including the one where Victor works at? :( -- It is a pain in the neck as the register does some crazy things. I usually go :sadwalk: when I am forced to return stuff due to buying the wrong item. Since I save so much, I just give up and :eat: it.

I have this feeling my CVS stocks up like, once every 2-3 weeks :P

Not edlind, but yes, it's a toy. It's $14.99 and it's giving $5.00. I think these have a gold sticker on the front of the box, I saw them at a store the other day. Great deal if you have a child to give it to.

Ok, so i know some of you guys are making gift baskets with CVS loot. Well, this isn't for just cvs, but if you print the 1.00 of johnsons softlotion, stress away ones, walmart has the smaller bottle for .98cents. so these would make great stuffers!! the coupie says 'not valid on samples' but they worked fine on the 2fl oz softlotion. Just thought I'd let ya guys know!!!

Yup, know how you feel. Went to CVS today and saw 4 beanos and thought "great, will come back for them later" b/c I was late meeting a friend. Come back a few hours later and only 1 left (which is fine, you snooze you lose), but someone had cut out the coupon inside  . Got about $20 worth of stuff and went to pay. The cashier got her  face out as soon as I got the coupons out. She wouldn't take ANY lumene coupon, sighs loudly and slams the scanner down on the table each time I hand her a coupon. It was pretty embarrassing. CVSing isn't as fun as it used to be.

I'm slowly getting back into cashiers. I still miss SCOs haven't found one opened yet. Most cashiers are really nice now. I had one yesterday who kept scanning my coupons and wanted to adjust when I didn't even buy the product. Luckily I caught it and took those out.

Anyways! I needed some cheap nylons. The nylon balls that are 2 / $0.99 rung up $0.05. I don't know how the quality is, but I won't be wearing them so it doesn't matter. The funniest thing happened these 2 ladies were looking in the clearance bin. I came over and looked also and picked up 2 items. As I walked away one commented to the other about how rude it was that I just swooped in and grabbed those items.

had a so so day for cvs: spent way to much oop of about $6 or so. i did get a $20 subway gc (for the new babys mom in our group) and a $25 home depot card so all in all its not a bad oop but i still feel horrible about spending that much since my stores either ALLOW you to put in a normal order (no matter the oop) or DON"T (must pay seperatly with cash, credit).

no beano at 2 stores AND no crest. i did find a $2 johnsons crt i had forgetten about so i got more FREE body wash but it was a good filler. i totally forgot to find some pics for the kodak picture maker but since beano AND crest were OOS on that order i just made it a smaller order.

had a $1 crt for speed stick so i had to throw that in with .75/2 speed sticks (swear i had a $1/1 24/7 but???) not great but needed a filler. also i had bought 2 lumene stink lotions, a caress tahitian and 2 sures on an order but my coupons just hated it i guess. the $2 lumene's beeped of course (guess i am going to have to stop usieng these ), i bought 2 sure deo's and both $1/1 q;s beeped and my $1 printable for ANY caress 12 oz+ beeped. so what did the cashier do?...he just voided the 2 stink lotions, 1 sure deo and price adjusted the caress! i was sooooo very tempted to tell him i would rather pay for them! now i need another sure to get ecb back on that and will have to scoure the stores for more stink lotion. luckily the price adjusted caress did give me back ecb.

also i bought charmin here and it DOES give back 1 ecb! yay. i didn't even have any q's! 3.19 blech. thats ok though. i just wanted to confirm it worked here since we need TP.

In 29 minutes (for most non 24 hour stores on the west coast) -- this crummy week will be done!!

I couldn't even participate in the Gatorade promotion to its fullest because the computer limited you to 5 Gatorade per transaction!! :ranting:

So it made you buy them in 5 separate transactions to take full advantage of the limit of 5 ECB's per card. Of course that means it wipes your total out to the $x/$xx.

Just about everything about this week was messed up!! Can't wait for this POS week to end!!

So why didn't anybody say that the Caress $1 coupon beeps? I printed out 4 of them and used one tonight to get another Caress Tahitian and the nice cashier almost wouldn't put it through. I told her it just says Caress 12 oz and nothing else even thought the picture isn't the same as the Tahitian. She put it through. As far as I could see it was for the right item. So I got .30 off more than the .70 coupon I used before.
