I went to the Walmart Pharmacy in Vernon Hills, IL today and was told that they no longer honor competitor prescription coupons! The pharmacist explained it went into effect last Friday.

Has anyone else had this problem? I sure hope Target doesn't follow suit.

The last time I took a coupon in from CVS to Target, they said they wanted the orginal one.

I have Never gotten our Walmart Pharmacy to honor a competitor coupon. (we live in a small town) I've tried it several times over the last year! Bummer.

They do not honor them... At least not since their prices became the best out there for scripts...

I even had a cvs pharmacy refused to honor their coupon (i.e., a printed one from the internet).

I've never gotten one from a different pharmacy honored. I've tried.

My local Wal-mart stopped taking competitors' coupons about a year ago. That's why I always ask first if a pharmacy will accept a coupon.

Rite Aid won't take competitors coupon either for the pharmacy either.

YMMV! My Rite Aid takes competitor coupons for prescriptions and so does my CVS. Walgreens in my area stopped accepting competitor coupons last year and my Walmart never accepted them.

My local Wal-Mart never took competitor coupons in the pharmacy.

Very much YMMV with other stores. Our Target, CVS, Rite-Aid, and Walgreen's won't take them anymore either. LOL, Rite-Aid here even balks about taking their own coupons -- DH had quite a hassle trying to use the one in the Rite-Aid sale paper, and it was their own coupon (and no, it wasn't printed or expired, so I don't see why they didn't want to honor it).

Why not just take it to CVS?

Walmart doesn't accept competitor's coupons since their generic prices went into effect- i guess they think people are getting a bargain as it is.

all the recent Rite Aid coupons are for TRANSFERRED scripts only- was your DH transferring his prescription from another chain? If no, then they shouldn't have accepted the coupon. It's not valid for new prescriptions, only for transfers.

I did used coupons months ago, but last time they told me I can use one , once every 6 months. Which it was a lie, because 5 motnhs ago I used 2.
Anyway, it seems like they change their policies whenerver they want to.
And yes even CVS sometimes don't want to accept coupons.

CVS has more expensive prescriptions. The ones I've had filled cost atleast $5 more, even with my insurance.

I had a coupon printed off at the end of my receipt from cvs for a $25 GC that Wal-mart would not take, but K-mart did, and to my knowledge K-Mart and CVS are both supposed to take competitor RX coupons!!

My husband used one from their ad (not an internet coupon) at the Walmart in Appleton, WI and they took it.

Yep, it was a prescription being transferred from Wal-Mart.

Hmm. Sounds like this deal is coming to an end. I just got denied using a coupon at my Rite Aid because it was a CVS coupon. Nevermind the fact that the same store accepted a CVS coupon a month ago.

My Target wouldn't take it when I tried 2 weeks ago :( Luckily I had a Target coup, but only for a $10 GC  Teach me to transfer without calling to ask about the coupon first!!!

For those in the King Sooper's grocery chain area, there's a $25 GC with transferred script in this week's circular :) That's where I'm transferring next - can always use grocery $$

I guess. I've called 8 Rite Aids within driving distance from my house and near my office and none will take competitors coupons, not regular or the pharmacy one.

Why not just take it to CVS?

because I already have my scripts filled at CVS only cuz they are open 24hrs around here (we have no walgreens). I wanted a free gift card to rite aid, kmart or target but no one will take the competitor coupons around here.

E-mail their customer service and ask about their corporate policy regarding competitor's coupons for prescriptions, then print out their response and bring it to your Rite Aid.
Also, Rite Aid keeps running a promo for $20 GC in their circulars for a transferred script, you can just use that. There'll be one in a circular a week from now.

My Rite Aid took the $25 CVS coupon.
