The Ad/Deals thread for this week is HERE (http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?sduid=59052&t=642319).

There are two CVS threads for each weekly ad. So, how do you know what to put where?
- Anything that everyone needs to know should go in the Ad/Deals thread (prices, coupons, what worked that shouldn't have, what didn't work that should have). The Wiki post (always the 2nd post in a thread) is updated constantly by users just like you!

- Ask yourself: "Does someone who is checking this thread via dialup before going to CVS really need to know this information?" If not, put it in the Discussion thread!

- Other stuff like questions, scenarios, what you plan to buy, what you bought, how great the deals are, how bad the deals are, chat where you're getting to know other SD CVS'ers etc, should all go in the discussion thread for each week.

Keeping track of all the CVS threads:
Subscribe to the threads you want to keep track of. (See links below)

To subscribe to a thread when you're already in the thread:
- go to the top of the page
- click on Thread Tools on the upper right hand side
- click Subscribe to this thread

To see the threads you've subscribed to, click "User CP". It's at the top of every page on the left. Any of your subscribed threads that have new posts will show in the center of the page. You can also click “View all subscribed threads” to see all threads, whether they have new posts or not.

(You can also 'sticky' every CVS thread to the top (also under Thread Tools), so if you go into Hot Deals or Deal Talk or Coupons you see all CVS threads at the top of the page.)

NEW: Too many pages in your CVS threads?
You can change your settings to show more posts per page, with the maximum being 40 posts per page. (This lets you scroll down more without having to keep hitting 'next page')

Go to “User CP”
Click on “Edit Options”
Scroll down until you see "Use this option to set the number of posts to show in a thread before splitting the display into multiple pages."
You'll see a drop down box where you can select the Number of Posts to Show Per Page.
If you make a change be sure to scroll down to the bottom and click on “Save Changes”

I am posting here due to the fact that those in my area need to know about the problems with our coupons. I am in the Williampsort PA area and am no longer able to use stacking at any area CVS as of today. They have said that corporate has sent out coupon abuse emails. They are saying that you can only use coupons up to the total...for example: buy $40 and then you may use 2 of the 4 off 20's and that is it...no stacking. So I need to know if Lewisburg or Selinsgrove or Lock Haven CVS allow that traditional stacking so I can get some diapers with little to no money OOP. Please let me know if you have had the same experience in Central PA or where I can go close to here within an hour.

I'm totally maxing out Nov deals and weekly deals just in case it is. I was able to get all of the Ameal for free, as well a a few Nova Maxs. Got about $250 ecb to spend for the holidays. My stores encourage stacking and I can get my 80+ orders to under $10, then pay with ecb and get back 4x what I used! Especially with all of the monitor coupons!

However, when the end comes, I won't be surprised or complain, as I was expecting it all along and enjoying the ride while it lasted!

If you don't have the $30.00 contour manuf coupon, there's a coupon in the diabetes book found at CVS. It's for $50.00, so the manager will have to override and change it to $30.

They had lots of the diabetes booklets by the pharmacy at my CVS but no Nova Max monitor. Was thinking of buying the other brand but then they didn't have any ECB's. I forgot my wallet at home  and have to leave the deal on the counter.
Apologies to the CVS cashier.

Pretty dismal week for me, and this is the first time I've said that in a while! I'll still make lemonade and get some water. Clearcare is good with the rebate, and I can always use more Tums for calcium. Hopefully my stores have the Contours and I can work them into some $50-$60 deals and get the rest free. And best of all, with a not-so-great week, I can get everything in a trip or two and not obsess all week!

The perfume at B1G1 50% off is my good deal for the week! This includes gift sets and all perfume priced at $19.99 or more. All You magazine has a $5 coupon for Baby Phat Golden Goddess(which smells great), and some stores have a $5 coupon also. If you buy 2 bottles of perfume priced around $40 each, it would be $60 for both-$10/$50(CRT or expired printable) -$5 man.cpn.-any other coupons you can stack or use. Makes the better deaprtment store brands around 1/2 price(maybe less for some of you who can stack), and I have EB;s from the Ameal BP deal last week to use. Won't earn any E'Bs, but it's a great way to use EB's to get nice Chrismas presents for much cheaper than at Macy's or other stores.

I have gotten these scents at CVS that I love: Clinique Happy, Donna Karan Cashmere Mist, Baby Phat and Baby Phat Godlen Goddess, Hillary Duff With Love for my DD, JLo scents and Ralph Lauren Romance.

I absolutely agree. *sigh* I'll make something work, but it won't be great. I need to get some OTC medicine that I take daily and have to use up almost $40 ECB. Hopefully some of the monthly deals are in stock. We'll see. *shrug*

Also will need to pick up some extra newspapers. We didn't get SS#2 at home...not sure if we aren't getting them at all here or if it's just my home delivered one. Either way, the P&G booklet is usually good...

Be careful with the Clear Care rebate. I sent in 3 different offer of Clear Care rebates, but only got the rebate for 2 of them. They wouldn't honor the last rebate for $8.99 (w/ no ecb offer).

Did all the weekly deals and a few more monthly ones that I wasn't planning on doing, but got for no cost and earned ecbs. Went to 2 stores and each had 1 Contour. On sale for $30, so easy to get my total to $75 on each trip. Got a bunch of water--fruit 2o with the CVS coupon, the sport bottles, perrier and contrex(?). The only problem I had was at the second store, the cashier has a manager's key to put through the Contour coupon, and did it last--for $50, so my total was -$21. There was no way to grab that much stuff and I didn't want her to get into trouble, so I told her what happened. She rerang everything, but then I was still -1.2. Just grabbed 2 Hershey bars. I'm up about $30 ecb for the day. Can't wait to get a few big presents for people and see their faces!

Does paying for a GC with mfgr's coupons still work? I haven't tried it in a while.

I was thinking of buying the Contour monitor for $30 and a GC for $25; then using just under $25 in ECB, then the $30 Contour Mfg. coupon to bring the total down near zero, using cash for the balance.

Today one of my local CVS stores refused to service me. I had not even handed any coupons to the checkout clerk yet. The week before the manager checked all of my coupons and said the she noticed I was using other peoples cards in the store. I shop for my son etc. She refused my order that day too and wanted a copy of my license . I of course refused to give her my license... and she asked how many cards do you have anyway and I said that is none of your business; then she said I am not servicing you. I am not sure why they refused me because I know from reading posts here at SD that ECB CS has no problem with people using their relatives cards and when I called them to deal with a different manager over the same issue ECB CS didn't have an issue with it. Does anyone have any phone numbers or contact information on how to deal with a CVS managers or how I can find out what is going on. I seriously think they have a picture of me at that store and have shown all the employee's my face and have told them to refuse me for some reason. I have done nothing but shop aggressively using the ECB system as best I can. Basically I just want to come to an understanding with the store so I can shop their without being harassed by the employee's. Oh, and when I was at the register with a clerk I never saw before I notice he was looking over at the managers booth while hanging on my order.

Wow, that's crazy. Now I'm glad I've never gotten more than one card. I do some serious damage, but can limit it to 2 or so trips a week, and I've got enough stores to spread it around. They all know me because of the coupons, but only see me once a week or so.

You'd think they would just give people warnings before getting so serious. Like if they ever told me no more printed $/$$ coupons because I've used too many, I'd say o.k. and do without. Seems like a lot of stores are going from saying nothing to serious actions without steps inbetween.

Okay just got back from CVS with NO LUCK.. first off they tell me it is (Nova MAx Meter) 59.99, then they say it is on sale for 29.99. and if I use the coupon for 50.00 I can only get the 59.99 price. They preceeded to tell me you then get 20 off with the reward....I said NO......I can only use that AFTER my purchase.......No manager on duty.......UGH!!!!!!!!!!!
Then tried to use my Tylenol $5 off she LAUGHED at me and said this is a scam there is no barcode..I clearly pointed it out and she denied me to use the coupon........

Call. For Sure! Mention how Sprint got such bad publicity for "dumping" "trouble" customers and ask them if they want the same publicity. And make sure you mention that you'd be happy to take your and ALL your relatives many prescriptions elsewhere since they don't want you to shop there (and since CVS makes most of their $ off prescriptions)

It seems to happend to many people ( I read something similar on another board)! We have only 2 cards one for me and one for my hubby but I think it is because some people have way to many cards for themselves. I am not judging or anything but some are abusing and ruining it for others!

Well, I think I will mention that my daughter is an MD and runs the local clinic which sends many prescriptions to CVS. Should I ask her to BAN CVS like CVS appears to be Banning me, LOL. That is my ace in the hole threat but I would never ask my daughter to do anything.

It seems to happend to many people ( I read something similar on another board)! We have only 2 cards one for me and one for my hubby but I think it is because some people have way to many cards for themselves. I am not judging or anything but some are abusing and ruining it for others!

I have 8 cards, but after some thought and thanks to your post, have decided that I shall cut back to 7.:)

Be careful with the Clear Care rebate. I sent in 3 different offer of Clear Care rebates, but only got the rebate for 2 of them. They wouldn't honor the last rebate for $8.99 (w/ no ecb offer).

There were two other Clear Care rebates that I noticed before this one. The first was in mid June. The second came shortly thereafter but when I looked at the forms, they went to the same PO box so I only did one of them because I was worried the second would be denied and really I only did it to cuz I had ecbs expiring (I don't wear contacts and don't know anyone who does either. They either wear glasses or got lasix done).

I was planning on buying more of this cuz once again I have ecbs expiring and this is such a dismal week. LUCKILY if I do that and one Organix rebate, I will use up all my ecbs (except for about $12 which expires on Wed) for the entire week. I've finally gotten a chance to take a breath and get all my rebates into envelopes and addressed and I'll get a chance to start wrapping stuff I've gotten. (Got a amaryllis w/ pot and potting soil yesterday at one cvs. The box looked in good shape. As anyone who buys gift type items knows, that is a big plus and for some reason potted flower type things always seem to get ratty looking by Christmas. Last year I know I had to use a Harry And David gift card and couldn't figure out a thing for someone who I wouldn't give a gift to had they not sent one to us and got them a red amaryllis. I am pretty sure I spent at least two times what I spent at cvs this year. If I have even more bucks expiring, I'm thinking of getting some for me even tho I really don't need the pot and soil. That flower is just so pretty and classy looking!

Anyway................... was the rebate that you sent in for sent to the same po box as the one before it? It had a diff offer number (1128 and 1129) but the same po box was used. This rebate that is out now has a diff po box but it does say on the form limited to one rebate during offering period and the other two are still valid.

As a matter of fact, I got the same message on Saturday night.....I actually gave the cashier two $4off$20 with my total of $31...it went very well at first since the cashier was very friendly but for some how when she input one of the coupon in I got a charge of beauty product pop on the screen which I did not buy...then she have to call the mgr. to fix it....then the mgr. told me like you mention above....darn....but I was able to use one $3off$15 and the $2of$10....plus ECB....it was still a pretty good deals when I think of it....by the way, I am in Philly,PA...

Ok so I did 2 shops today, 2 this morning in one trip and another single transaction this afternoon. all at one store. at my last shop a bit ago, When I was checking out, the manager gave the cashier a few papers, and the other cashier said 'oh, those are the online coupons' it was a list of coupons clearly, and my cashier said 'oh, these are from her (pointing at me)?' and the other cashier said yes. what would it have been? as we left the cashier was writing stuff on the papers. what were they?

I was able to use a 5/25 4/20 and 3/10 and 2/10 and 2 candy manu bogo . I didn't buy any ecb items so my oop was .54 after $11 in ecbs... but I was happy with that. I'm in so cal-found candy at 75% off and fall items 75% off too :)

Today, I went to my favorite CVS where EVERYONE knows me. I couldn't find a Nova, the Ameal or anymore Softlips, so I looked for some clearance. I found an endcap with clearance that was marked 50% off, but as we all know, clearance usually goes even cheaper on Sunday's. Well, it all scanned for 90% off!! I just started loading my cart and purchased about 50 hair ties and clips. Some of the Cristophe ones had a 1 off coupon peelie (I didn't even notice them, but the very nice cashier started peeling them off). People were looking at me like I was nuts with all of those hair things! Well, she just counted the peelies which totalled 22 and subracted 22 from my 50 total. Then I gave 2 of the 2 off 10's and ecb's that were expiring today and no printables. The manager and other employees asked me what i was doing with all of the hair ties and i said that i am donating most of them. (I ended up taking out a few for myself and a few for gifts and the rest are in my donation box that is getting way too full).

While walking around before checkout I saw the manager and told him that I donate some things that I buy from CVS and told him to let me know if there is a place that he would like me to donate some things. While at the register, he was so nice and asked me for my name and number so that he could contact me when he has a donation box set up to send to troops in Iraq. I was a little nervous about giving my name and number (especially since i used my mom's card...but they know that i do a lot of my mom's shopping) and since i am there so much and sometimes stack printables. Well, I actually have been not doing much stacking there lately just because I feel bad doing so. Anyway, the manager said that he will call me when he has the donation thing set up.

Is this a nationwide CVS thing or do certain CVS's just set things up individually?

Part of me feels weird asking the CVS manager if I can donate stuff from his store because I am getting so much from his store free and from other CVS's...should I feel weird? Should I not have offerred to donate stuff to a charity of his choice? What kind of stuff should I start collecting for the troops? I have toothpaste, toothbrushes, hair and face products, shaving products, wipes, q-tips, Tylenol and various cold meds...and everything that has given ECB's in the past few months :) Can I donate that kind of stuff?

I personally wouldnt leave my number but then again I've left a message for my DM cuz of some incident. In regards to donating stuff I ve actualy gave the items I get inabundance off to anyone I see not at the register. I once thought about this but never acted on it but after shopping to recycle the ecb to stand outside of CVS and hand my stuff out to whomever walks out the door. I figure they're in the store already mine as well give them something for free, but never happened. Note I wouldnt be soliciting anything but handing out stuff, not sure how that would play ... Anyways just gave probably about 20 tubes of paste off.

Absolutely! I'm an AF veteran, and love how many people have shown their support by sending boxes. I know how much it meant when my mom sent me stuff, and that wasn't even in war time. Just think of what you would like if you were in the desert--wipes and lotion are key, shaving stuff also good, as are snacks in small packages. Hair things for women are good, but they must be regulation, so no big clips or scrunchies. Any little thing to make a woman out there feel more feminine is always good. Packages should be kept fairly small (under 10 lbs). There's really no right or wrong. There are so many sites you can google as to where to send the packages. They can be addressed any solider, or any female solider if you make a box for a woman. Our PTA gets together every quarter to put together stuff sent in through the school, box it up and take it to ship it out. Oh, and letters are always, always appreciated. I was dating a Navy guy way back when during the Desert Storm era and would write a couple of times a week. By a month later, I was writing to about 10 people! Voices, any voices, from home help a lot. Sorry for the ramble!

Thank you so much for your advice. I will look online as you suggested. :) Is makeup permitted (i.e., foundation, powder, lipstick, etc.) How about nail polish? How about those regular elastic bands for the hair? I have lots of razors and blades to donate too! How about trial size lotions for the ladies?

I just found this link. This site provides lots of good suggestions.

It worked as of last week. I didn't even think of doing it with the Contour monitors, that's a great idea for those willing to try it.

Yes to all of the above, especially the regular black/brown elastic bands. Not sure about the makeup--depends on where you are and the local laws, and I'm not really familiar with those in Iraq. It's definitely permitted by military regulations. Many women wear more makeup in the military than they did before just to do away with the stereotypes. I would think power would be a yes b/c it doesn't show. Lip balm is good for women and men--think of how dry it is. Now you've got me motivated to do up a few more boxes on my own! Just think of the good all we slickdealers could do over there! I picked up a bunch of Pringles today which will be going! So will my Softlips!

I'm buzzing on a CVS high. Just ran out for bread, really! Ended up with some Perrier, Fruit 2o, Tums, Pringles, a Homedic Massager ($99.99), and the digital frame in the ad ($69.99), and bread, of course. The frame I got last week was different from in the ad. This one is totally cute! It has a clock and alarm on it too!!! I stacked some coupons and ended up paying about $130 in ecb. The cool part was that paying in ecb lowered the taxable amount, so instead of the $13+ I would have paid for those items in tax, my oop was $.84. I feel great about getting to give my parents these great gifts, and am relieved at having dumped the 3 29.99 ecbs plus more. And I still have about $140 in ecb left. I'm scouring the area for 2 more picture frames--hope to get them while the $/$$ coupons still work--and draw down my ecb more. I've still got 3 more Novas to get, so will have plenty more ecb eventually. What did we ever do before CVS?!

I just don't have the motivation to go out now and get the inserts - i looked at taylortown, and all i can see that i actually want is the kellogg's cereal q's. If anyone wants to trade for any or all of the 2 off 10 pharmacy counter q's, or some diabetes book q's, lmk. this says alot about how burned out on cvs i have become- i used to actually get kind of excited for the p&g insert weekends, but not anymore. so many ecb's to get rid of, and so stockpiled on about everything, i really would like to just burn off the ecb;s as they come up to their expirations, and retire the cards. damn nov max meters are ruining that plan for me though. i only got 4 of them, and never any issue at all with the q being adjusted down and keyed in. the only store that has the diabetes books here has never had any of the nova max, and when i asked the pharmacist about getting any, he pretty much said no, not ever getting them.
easy few orders this weekend - 4 off 20 crt, 2 off 10 pharmacy counter q, 3 off ameal bp mfc, nova max with the q, recycle loads of expiring ecb's with the amal, and make a few extra with the nova max. i like the ameal - makes me a few ecb's, and i can recycle all the ecb's expiring this week in one order. i could be done my week's cvs work just stopping off once on the way into work, and once on the way home tomorrow.
anyway, would appreciate any trade offers for the kellogg's q's.

Some of the cashiers seem to think we just buy everything can toss it, some of those get a bit nicer when they find out that we make sure it all gets used (well, everything but the stink lotion).

At least in my area, most don't, just one that I know of. It's YMMV whether or not they hassle you but I don't think the register will ever stop you from buying them with ECBs.

P.S. Frustrated CVS ECB Customer.

There is noooo way that the cashier should be able to get away with refusing you service... it is NONE of her concern how many cards you have, jeez, CVS has so much information about us anyway. Not to get too political here, someone jump in if they agree? But isnt this violating your civil rights as a customer??

If you're just using the value of this coupon to get your gift card, you may get shot down. Seems the high value of the coupon, combined with the gift card, causes them to notice what you're doing.

Today one of my local CVS stores refused to service me.

Sorry to hear about your experience. Right, wrong or indifferent, most retail establishments can refuse service to anyone as they deem necessary, as long as their action is not discriminatory under the law.

I would not want to be in your shoes, but if I was, I would approach the manager of the store - politely, and calmly, and seek to understand why I am being refused service. With you standing in front of him/her, politely asking to understand, might cause them to change their view.

I don't know what they perceive you to have done in their store, but it would be helpful for you to know.

Does anyone know if you use the manu B1G1 for the Russell Stover, will they both be free after CVS's B1G1 this week? And if so, will it make a difference what order you give coupons or ECB's? Thanks!

It worked as of last week. I didn't even think of doing it with the Contour monitors, that's a great idea for those willing to try it.

Tried it today and it went fine. Cashier hadn't scanned my card in beginning but don't know if that had anything to do with it. Got a $25 Mastercard.

I think the coupon you reference is for a different product than the one that is on sale BOGO? The one the coupon is good for is 2/$5 this week, I think.

I just checked my crts. I only got 5 more crts (excluding the ?? off ?? and 2 off 10 cvs brand crt). 2 of them will never tomorrow. They are for:
- $1 off Hershey Extra Dark bars
- $1 off Hershey Antioxidant whole bean or dark pouch chocolates

Anybody know how much cvs are selling these?

It is $1.99 for each Hershey Extra Dark bar and $3.29 for Hershey Antioxidant, whole bean or dark pouch chocolates. So I went for the Hershey Extra Dark bar and skipped the other crt.

There is noooo way that the cashier should be able to get away with refusing you service... it is NONE of her concern how many cards you have, jeez, CVS has so much information about us anyway. Not to get too political here, someone jump in if they agree? But isnt this violating your civil rights as a customer??

Not to apply to the above-referred post. Just add an extra piece of information to ponder upon.

Target has banned a couple of sisters to shop at any of their stores. I dont remember when that happened, should be within the last 24 months. The 2 sisters have done excessive returns at Target. As a result, they are banned. Lawsuits are filed. Target won. I read in newspaper, not a whole lot of details. Anyone interested, I am sure Google can help.

I wouldn't be surprised there are fine prints in the ExtraCare program or Corporate policy that the company reserves the right to refuse servicing a customer should they determine there are reasons the Corporate deem legitimate.

Ok, I thought that this week was not looking so good, but, I actually figured out a decent deal:
1- ameal bp $29.99
2- fruit2o's $1.09 (b1g1f)
Total= $31.08
Coupons:
-$4/20 cvs e-mail
-$2/10 cvs coupon
-$3 ameal printable mfr coupon
-$1 fruit2o cvs diabetes book coupon
Total= $21.08, get $29.99 ecb back. Profit ~$9
It works out great b/c you are technically buying 3 items, thus, you can use 3 cvs coupons. Hth anyone. I've done this one twice already. If I don't find any novamax monitors to make this a $50 total, I will do this one repeatedly.

Does anyone know if CVS sells postage stamps? If so, can we use ECB on them without hassle, or do we have to something similar to what people do to get gift cards?

A lot of them do but only by the book. I bought some last week along with a bunch of other stuff with ECBs and there was no beeping. Unfortunately, the cashier said they keep them in the drawer so he'd give me it when he was done with the order. When I got home I realized he never gave them to me.

When you pay with ecb then a gift card, the drawer doesn't open, so the cashier often forgets about the stamps. I've almost walked out twice!

Hit 2 more CVS stores and got 2 more of the digital picture frames. My ecb are down to about $40 now! But, the cashier goofed up when ringing my order of Fruit 2o, the frame, and a monitor. He adjusted the monitor to $59.99 then took off the full $50 coupon. I didn't realize what he'd done, then paid with ecb. I went back to ask why he'd done that, and it turns out that's what they do for the Novas, since they give ecb. I explained that my item didn't get ecb, and usually the coupon was adjusted. If that wasn't the policy, then I'd just return it for my $9.99. The shift supervisor told him to just return it to a money card, then re-ring it and give me the difference on the money card. The whole thing ended up taking about 10 min, and he kept ringing, voiding, etc. with the two of them talking back and forth about it. Finally, the shift supervisor rings it, then apologizes and hands me the money card, monitor, and receipt. When I got home, I realized they rang the monitor for the sale price, took off the coupon, then gave me the whole $60 on the moneycard! I called and talked to the shift supervior when I got home, and he told me to just keep the card. I think he was just sick of dealing with it. So the digital frame, water, and monitor ended up costing me $10 in ecb. Deal of the day! I still feel a little guilty, though, even though I did try and do the right thing!

Correct--it was $79.99 on sale for $30 this week. :)

In that case, it seems like it would be easier to get the monitor for free and also $15 in other items for free if we wait until it is not on sale:

Contour Monitor: 79.99
Other items: $15.00
TOTAL: $94.99

Minus:
Contour Monitor cvs coupon from diabetes book: $50
Contour Monitor Manu coupon: $29.99
$15/$75: $15

No stacking (even tho it's WAY over $75 and should allow stacking imo, but ymmv)
No extra bucks used

Pay tax on the manu coupon value (or $15 if you buy food cuz the $15/$75 will take off tax on the monitor up to the non taxable items)......... and who knows? You might get lucky and get a rebate on the monitor, but in my experience very iffy with this company.

Private corporations, such as CVS, always have the right to refuse service to anyone for pretty much any reason. For instance, they can even refuse to serve someone who is a race they don't like, is too young, wears the wrong clothes, etc. However, companies obviously choose not to exercise this right too often for fear of negative publicity.

On a completely unrelated note, thanks for the replies about the postage stamps. Repliers were repped (though I still think my reps are not counting).

P.S. Frustrated CVS ECB Customer.

Sometimes calling the district manager can get results. Call the store and ask for the district managers name & number. Tell him/her the situation and maybe they can help you. There's no way they can refuse to service you.

The frames look really nice to me and are a good price, but not an amazing price or anything. I'm been buying them up around me because a) I want to give 4 of them for the holidays, and b) My stores allow stacking and expired coupons as long as the register takes them, and the last round of coupons will stop working after the 11th. Finally, I had close to $300 of ecbs and I needed to use up a bunch of them, so I bought the 4 frames and a Homedic back massager.

One thing to keep in mind is that a lot of the stores may only stock one at a time. At least that's how they do it around here.

I am not an expert on this subject, and this is way off-topic (even for this discussion thread), but at the very least, we seem to both be in agreement that CVS can deny service to people on the basis of coupon usage.

As for the remainder of my post, racial discrimination by private companies is not illegal (though of course it is wrong), but there are still ways to combat it (see this case: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heart_of_Atlanta_Motel_v._United_States). Denying service on the basis of disability by private companies may be illegal because of the ADA, but I don't know enough there.

Also keep in mind that employment discrimination on the basis of factors you mention is illegal. But that is different from denying service.

I'm counting on this deal or a better one showing up again. I'd like to buy several frames but since it's so early in the holiday shopping season I'm guessing more deals will show up. :please: I don't plan to buy any this week (I might if I can work a Nova in with it), without unexpired $/$$ coupons I don't really feel like spending so much in ECBs when I think more deals will come along.

yup. I don't doubt that they can deny service to whoever they want but that doesn't mean that corporate or the DM will agree with this decision. IMO, she should complain about it, just because they can refuse her doesn't mean they should.
If this issue keeps coming up but people are worried about staying on topic, there's always the CVS BS thread. (http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?sduid=218471&t=634750&page=78) It wasn't bothering me, but in case it was concerning anyone else. :)

ed- if you didn't already get enough offers for kellogg's coupons lmk, I've got a lot of them

One store by me has absolutely the nicest manager anywhere i have ever been - unfortunately for her, she is also the manager of the only store around me that has consistently had the nova max meters, so i had bothered the heck out of her every night woth the q that had to be manually adjusted, very time consuming and annoying for her - so finally, 3rd or 4th night in a row i am in there, she asks me 'how many cards do you have? and what do you do with all these things, sell them on ebay?' for this woman, who is so super nice to have lost patience and gotten annoyed with me really made me feel bad, and i told her, honestly, no, i give them all to the salvation army, since i only buy them to get the extra bucks, and i am fairly certain they have no real value on ebay anyway. she was noticeably less annoyed with me when i told her i donated them.
thanks for the offer on the kellogg's q's - i have someone sending some my way already, but i do appreciate the offer. seems odd to me i got way more offers to send me q's than takers on my offer of 2 off 10 pharmacy q's- is everyone here finding those things, or are you all just too shy to take me up on my offer? i really am perfectly happy to send them to anyone who can use them, and 'bank' the favor so if some other time, i need something. everyone here has always been exceptionally generous to me, so i really do like to contribute whatever i can, it always seems to come back around anyway, eventually.

This is the last I'll say (sorry about the OT). The Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination based on race, etc. CVS is considered a place of public accomodation, like other stores, restaurants, etc., and therefore may not discriminate.

This is the last I'll say (sorry about the OT). The Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination based on race, etc. Though CVS is a privately owned company, it is considered a place of public accomodation, like other stores, restaurants, etc., and therefore may not discriminate.

One final OT as well.

1) CVS is not a privately own company - by definition, any company if its shares are publicly traded, can be owned by the public, it is a Public Company. CVS stock trades on NYSE, symbol CVS (performed better than Walgreen, symbol WAG, I am sure a lot to do with the ExtraCare program. )
A privately-owned company does not need to open its accounting books, for example. A publicly-traded company has to report both quarterly and annual, its financial results and is subject to SEC rules. This is the financial side of the business. All companies are required to obey the laws, of course.

2) Whether it is prively owned or a public company, no company can violate The Civil Rights Act of 1964. However, we have not the slightest idea, based on what, that particular CVS store denies service to that lady. I would venture to say that it is not based on her gender, or race, or religion, or age.

What the OP can, and should do, probably is to find out, at least make the store to admit, based on what ground, that the store manager decides not to serve her. Only when this is known, that it can be determined whether she is discriminated.

This was my point much earlier on today.

Having been around SD for awhile now, and reasonably active most of the time, I have seen horror stories told by people who I am pretty sure, by their prior posts, were treated poorly - and without just cause. I have also seen horror stories told by people who appear to have brought the grief upon themselves.

I have no idea what has happened in this case, and neither do the rest of you. The OP and the store manager/employees know far better than any of us what caused CVS to refuse her service. IMO it is wrong to ASSUME who was right and who was wrong in this case.

I don't care to be the judge, but if someone asked me to be, I would reasonably have to say I have not been provided sufficient facts to make a call - either for or against CVS. If someone can point me to where such facts exist on SD right now to justify CVS as the guilty party, please speak up. Otherwise, let's quit beating this dead horse.

Right on. This is how I feel also.

We all love to think the big corporations are all evil (I readily admit I am guilty of that). However, there is very little info being provided, other than the "fact" that someone is denied service at a CVS store.

Totally agree. I got off topic, and never addressed the original post. I'm not taking sides since we don't know what really happened. It sounds from various posts like many CVS stores are starting to "fight back" when they perceive patrons are abusing the system. I still stand by my earlier position that they should take smaller steps earlier to prevent this "abuse" from happening, like firmly stating that they will only take one printed coupon, people can only have one card, etc., instead of bringing down the hammer suddenly.

That is the regular price for the bags of Dove that are on sale. Mini refers to the size of the candy, not the bag.

You can either return without receipt for a moneycard, or show them the receipt. If you paid a portion by cash or credit, you will get that back, or if you paid with coupons and ecb, you'll get back a moneycard.

two questions, hope some one can help me.
1: can the cvs new mechines take the ECBs got from the same item in same week?
2: is there any limit for ECBs in one transaction? can't be more than 40 ECBs? saw the Nov ECBs booklet, it's said 40ECBs per transaction.

many thanks:)

The problem, it seems to me, is that the different parts of cvs are not working with or communicating with each other. CVS Central issues emailed q's, crt's, mailers, runs the ads, puts out the diabetes books, promotes the ecb program - but, store managers and cashiers have no clue most of the time, so they see customers pay little oop regularly, they assume it shouldnt be allowed. loss prevention comes down on store managers for things they say are not allowed, which may or may not be consistent with the published terms of he ecb program. registers are programmed to accept coupons or reject them, stores rely on that to tell them whether something is valid or not, then loss prevention comes down on the stores because they accepted q's cvs central programmed their registers to accept. store managers then become ultra paranoid, and come up with policies completely contrary to cvs central's policies. geniuses put out the diabetes book, with nova max q's for $50, while simultaneously running ads selling it for $29.99, with $20 ecb's back - managers at some stores refuse the nova max q, insist the ad says 'no other discounts' - ok, if cvs does not intend for anyone to use more than 1 discount on the nova max, then why have 3 (ecb's back, discounted price, and $50 q in book) different promotions on the thing all at the same time? So, confusion reigns. I asked once if csr could email me the answer she gave me verbally on the phone, what their official policy was on 1 cvs and 1 mfc on 1 item - nope, won't say anything in writing on these issues. To have such incredible disjointedness among the different parts of the company, it would have to be intentional. Makes me want to go out to cvs and chuck a couple diabetes monitors at the cashiers. JK.
I am hip deep in that whitening mouthwash from last week - finally tried it this morning. it is awful tasting.

your answer is 100% correct, except it assumes the store manager or whoever is up front will have any clue what to do when their register beeps and tells them to refund only 8 cents. this is ymmv for sure. return without receipt, somewhere you dont usually shop. leave the store. go buy the right stuff somewhere else. this avoids any issue with the store thinking you are returning to scam the ecb program, or at least avoids the store that thinks you are scamming with returns from being the same store you need to shop in.

I truly believe the "no discounts apply" for the monitors is for insurance discounts. Not one store in my area has a coupon issue, unless it is for not adjusting it down! I've learned this week that my stores will do almost anything, but get irritated with me if I try to tell them what to do, like adjust my $50 coupon to $30. See previous post about them PAYING me $50 on a moneycard to buy a Contour today. Tried to fix it, but just made them irritated.

Sigh. Yes to question #1/ No to question #2. You can't do more than 40 ecb DEALS at a time. Those 40 deals could net you hundreds of ecbs, theoretically.

I do boxes to the military serving in Iraq and have given the store manager a copy of the flyer from SoldiersAngels.com and said I think its great that CVS has the ECB program and it sure has provided many of the items which has made their lives a little better while serving far from home. I also handed him a flyer from the USPS about the CareKit 04 for sending boxes at a flat rate to the troops, his eyes seemed to brighten up when I said just call the 800 for the USPS press 1 press 2 and tell the agent you need the FREE Carekit.

Actually, I'm pretty sure they don't accept mail addressed to "any soldier" anymore for security reasons. :no1: A couple years back I sent a package using www.anysoldier.com . They give you actual names of soldiers to address to the package to. From their website - "You will notice the Soldier's address includes the line, "ATTN: Any Soldier" . The Soldiers are volunteers for this effort, they will see the "Attn" line, and will put your letters and packages into the hands of Soldiers who don't get much or any mail. This effort is 110% voluntary." I actually really like this site because each volunteer soldier has a list of items they need. Just remember when you put a package together to put everything in ziplocs in case of leakage and don't mix soap and other fragrance-y stuff with food. The food will taste like soap! :vomit:

The P&G coupons are usually very lenient, so it should work. However, it will beep to be adjusted to $.99 and the cashier might notice it is not for the right product. Good Luck!

So, I came home with my daily bag o' free sh*t and realized how effin great CVS is.

For all the gripes I have about sour cashiers and coupons that don't scan right.... I REALLY like coming home with free stuff on an almost daily basis.

Last night I got dishwashing gel packs, a toothbrush for DH (because DD painted with his) makeup, a diabetes monitor that is going to get me a $30 rebate check and deo for DH.. all for free.... and they PAID me $7 to take it all.... amazing...

This is so NOT going to be helpful, but not really. I bought 2 of each this week because that's what was out there. I like the look of the TDE one better, and that one has a clock display with alarm/snooze, so looks like it would be better if someone wanted to use it bedside. It seems a little more compact--the box is smaller anyway, and also supports USB flash drives, which the Coby does not (I think). I haven't opened either, as they're gifts, so I can't actually give any real reviews. Also, I've seen reviews of the Coby one, and they're very mediocre. No reviews of the TDE, i.e. Atico International. Interesting, though, the contact info for the Atico frame is a CVS e-mail. Hmmmm. Hope this helped a little.

Still haven't seen the ad - - but the ones they have in stores normally are $79.99 (and were once $99.99). Someone here said the ones in the ad, for $69.99, have even more bells and whistles than the $79.99 ones. Gotta get out and try to find one!

They are both 69.99 now . The TDE is ringing up as Coby digital frame. The TDE has an alarm and clock. I got the Coby for the same 69.99 and I know I asked them to scan it maybe a month ago and it was 99.99. Then last week it was 79.99 and on sale this week for 69.99. I don't know if the TDE was ever $99, I did not scan it last month but it was also 79.99 last week. I bought 3 of them to use up my expiring bucks.
I also mistakenly bought a deodorant for the second time on my card and did not get the $5 so that was a waste. The manager was there and I showed her my previous receipt which did not say limit reached. I think what happened is that I must have bought the deodorant, then bought something else right after and the deodorant did not register until my next purchase which was today. So I will return that because I really didn't buy the 9.99 deodorant because I wanted it. I was just desperate to get back something! I just hate the thought of spending 9.99 on deordorant when I have so many other deodorants I don't need.

I'm annoyed with CVS. For the first time since I've been down here in Florida, I had a cashier challenge me about a coupon.

I was trying to buy the glucose monitor and use the $50 off coupon, but she *insisted* that I couldn't use it since I was only paying $9.99 for it. I told her no, I was in fact not paying 9.99 for it, I was paying $29.99. I politely asked her if she could adjust the coupon to $29.99 and she refused, so I put it back. I'm going to try again sometime when she's not there, but it frustrates me that they don't understand how their own Extra Care program works.

I pay the full $29.99, not $9.99.

Tomorrow's a new day. ;)

Hi Everyone,

I feel the same way. I've done REALLY well with the CVS deals since I started doing this, but only because of all of you helping me learn and get inspired. Now a CVS aholic for sure.

Looking back on my deals, I realize that I got ALL of my candy for Halloween FREE this year (a savings of at least $80 since my neighborhood is very active at Halloween and we give out LOTs of candy) and I've already saved at least a couple hundred $ on Christmas gifts so far, gotten another couple hundred $ in other stuff our family needs (and doesn't need which will go to donations). I am very thankful for all of this. Saving money for my family and using $$ smartly is very important to me. It is really helping the budget!

Don't feel bad, I have been refused three times for the Nova Max. Bottom line, the answer the managers (yes, NOT cashiers) are giving for refusing this coupon is that the company's intent was to have it ultimately cost us $9.99. So, when it's regularly $59.99, the $50 q would make it $9.99, and at $29.99 with a $20 ecb, it would make it $9.99.

I always then tell them I'd rather only 'pay' $9.99 up front, instead of paying $29.99 and getting ecbs, if that's the case, so I have them take it off my order. In all reality, I have no need for it, except to donate it, but by the time it's off the sale, there probably won't be ecbs and the coupon will have expired.

So, rather than be mad about this, I just figure that at least our stores are very kind about many other things that others of you get frustrated about. You win some, you lose some.

After the first time, I didn't think I'd try again, but as I've seen these, I have tried at various stores, as maybe I will still yet get lucky.

When you run into this wall, ask for rain checks on the max. So far I have 2 written up for 5 of them, to include the eb on it, and have asked to make sure this means I'll get that on a giftcard. Which is even better than the eb in my opinion. I got the rainchecks in 2 different stores--was not greedy, have 2 family cards and could have gotten these in 4 stores if I'd wanted to, since I've been to KC and could have gotten more.
Helps to have a nice cashier to write it up properly.
So I'm not worried, they will get them in sooner or later, after everybody here has gone after them and figure the deal is over.
The cashier who is most helpful to me asked me quietly where the max coupons come from. I was pleased to let her know that our store finally have the diabetes book and where to find it in the store. She's an assistant manager and they hadn't even showed the book to the employees. She wants to get some monitors for family members and was hoping to get some of the coupons herself. I offered to go grab them, but she said she'd get them later.
The awful store manager was on and I don't think she wanted him to see us getting too chummy.:lmao:
It is definately ymmv, as both of the stores where I got one max last week have nice cashiers and managers (the actual overall store manager is nice--not the nasty one) , and told the cashiers to allow the coupon, adjusted to the 29.99 so the ebs are over and above, as intended to be. I could just have easily been shot down like so many have been. In the other stores I've been in, no reason to ask since there were none in stock.
