The Ad/Deals thread for this week is HERE (http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?sduid=59052&t=653205).

There are two CVS threads for each weekly ad. So, how do you know what to put where?
- Anything that everyone needs to know should go in the Ad/Deals thread (prices, coupons, what worked that shouldn't have, what didn't work that should have). The Wiki post (always the 2nd post in a thread) is updated constantly by users just like you!

- Ask yourself: "Does someone who is checking this thread via dialup before going to CVS really need to know this information?" If not, put it in the Discussion thread!

- Other stuff like questions, scenarios, what you plan to buy, what you bought, how great the deals are, how bad the deals are, chat where you're getting to know other SD CVS'ers etc, should all go in the discussion thread for each week.

Keeping track of all the CVS threads:
Subscribe to the threads you want to keep track of. (See links below)

To subscribe to a thread when you're already in the thread:
- go to the top of the page
- click on Thread Tools on the upper right hand side
- click Subscribe to this thread

To see the threads you've subscribed to, click "User CP". It's at the top of every page on the left. Any of your subscribed threads that have new posts will show in the center of the page. You can also click “View all subscribed threads” to see all threads, whether they have new posts or not.

(You can also 'sticky' every CVS thread to the top (also under Thread Tools), so if you go into Hot Deals or Deal Talk or Coupons you see all CVS threads at the top of the page.)

NEW: Too many pages in your CVS threads?
You can change your settings to show more posts per page, with the maximum being 40 posts per page. (This lets you scroll down more without having to keep hitting 'next page')

Go to “User CP”
Click on “Edit Options”
Scroll down until you see "Use this option to set the number of posts to show in a thread before splitting the display into multiple pages."
You'll see a drop down box where you can select the Number of Posts to Show Per Page.
If you make a change be sure to scroll down to the bottom and click on “Save Changes”

the new deals start in 30 minutes and there are no posts? None? I would think that someone would at least be excited about the free stomach meds after Turkey Day, but what do I know.

Still recovering from BF sale at CVS! Did anyone else get rainchecks for the camera? My CVS gave me 2-$59.99 for the Kodak because they can't give ECBs! Yea-w/ coupons and ECBs-I can get a new camera for no OOP!

Like Slayers said . . . this'll probably be a slow week everywhere since the retailers had their big push over the weekend.

I'm just hoping for a diaper deal somewhere, anywhere . . . I'm actually on my last package! I have about a week before I run out!

There is hardly anything posted about the deals this week. Come on people! I did the Black Friday deals Wednesday night (well midnight). That's over. We need to talk about the new deals damn it!

:woot2: There is hardly anything posted about the deals this week. Come on people! I did the Black Friday deals Wednesday night (well midnight). That's over. We need to talk about the new deals damn it!

OMG I had the BEST day ever. *sigh* I;m CVS crazy again!

If anyone is looking for a place that takes expired ECB's...I found one!!!! If anyone wants the exact location, let me know. It's in Fullerton. I used ECB's from like 8 months ago! The manager told me they are taking expired ECB's until the end of the 2007, then in 2008, no more. So hurry and use your expired if you have them left! I used about $50 in expired tonight and have about $20 left I'll use later. I bought expensive items that are sealed that didn't generate ECB's. I plan on returning them (unused and still sealed) and getting a money card because I was in a rush and just grabbed things to use my expired bucks!

I also got 2 more NovaMax's!! :whee: I'm sooo happy! Since I spent about an hour in Best Buy w/ BF while he looked @ LCD and plasma tvs, he felt bad and said he'd take me to as many CVS's as I wanted!!! :evillaf:

I went to one in Fullerton and the guy was sooooo nice! I got ALL my Black Friday goodies and used $10 ECB, and $1.95 on a money card) and got back $35 in ECB's! The cashier was so funny. He was a nice young guy, and he let me stack! On a $35 order he let me use a $5/30, 2 $3/15, and a $2/10. He would have taken whatever I had, but I didn't have anything else. He was pretty funny too. He said, "hey, look at that guy behind you." I looked and it was some asian guy. He was like, "He comes in EVERY week. See those 3 carts full of stuff? Those are all his. He has a BINDER full of coupons! His totals always come out to like 2 cents and his receipts are like 5 feet long." I was like "Whoa, he's worse than me!" hahahah :lmao: I think I shall go to that CVS more often knowing I won't be the one they talk about!!!

Then, BF decided to take me to another CVS because it was on the way to a Shabu Shabu restaurant we wanted to try. That's where I used all my expired bucks, and my BF picked up some FAR Black Friday deals on his card. I used my expired bucks, about $50, and the guy let me use a $10/$50, a $3/10 CVS, and a $2/10, but my order was over $60, so I didn't really stack. Now, I have waaaaaay more ECB's than I started with and a bunch of products I can use. I  CVS!

Now, I have to start thinking of deals for this week to recycle of waste some ECB's. :dance13: Now I'm off to go watch a movie and eat some buttery popcorn
and soda!

Got two benefibers (6.99 each), 2 Johnsons bath buddies (free after coupon) - used 2, 2 dollr off benefiber cbs cpns, 2 2 off mfg cpns, CVS $ off cpn & the 2 mfg bath buddies coupons.

Alright, I think I might do one more run this week since we are running low on paper towels.

8pk Paper Towels 3.99 * 3 = 11.97
Hersheys Kiss BOGO 2.99
Robitussin 6.99
-Free Robitussin CPN from Recall 6.99
- 1 off 2 Hershey Kiss
- 2 off 10 CVS Brand CPN
-4off 20 CVS CPN =

7.96 cents.

I think its a decent deal since we need the paper towels and that would make them like .33 cents a roll. I've got some ECB's to spend on this anyway.

I did the NOvataris deal. Bought 11.99 Benefiber chewables and received a $10 ECB.

Question: (actually quite acouple)
1- is the johnson and johnson baby ecb still going on? i only ask since it's still on the bottom of my receipt and i bought two j&j baby washclothes and didn't receive any ecbs for it.

2- if #1 is no, then disregard any other questions. if yes, then my oop is really low. should i call cvs to ask for the $2 ecb?

3- again disregard if #1 is no and also disregard if #2 is no. if #2 is yes, will they look at my low oop and give me trouble?

FYI
$1 Benefiber cpn from diabetes book beeps.
I got 36ct benefiber chewable ($6.39) and 18ct Gax-X thin strips ($4.49) for the buy $10 get $10 Novartis stomach remedies. I was able to use $1 diabetes book, $2 mfr & $2 benefiber cvs printable on one benefiber. I handed out the diabetes book cpn first then mfr and then printable last. I did this twice on different cards and diabetes book cpn beeped both times so cashier entered manually.

Well it looks like a dismal week at CVS. On one card I have to burn $40 ECBs Monday, $52.58 ECBs Tuesday and $31.99 ECBs on Wednesday and on the other card $54.99 ECBs on Monday. So I will be maxing out the remaining monthly deals. I will have to do a bunch of orders today since the $5/$30's expire today. I am now at a total of $807 in ECBs with just 2 cards - there is no way I could handle more than 2.

Wow thats a lot of ECBs to have to use. You could do some monthly deals to recycle the dates on them or when is it when the December Monthly deals kick in. Isnt it a few days before. I've gotta get some of the waters still. And gosh why no cameras as thats a great way to recycle ecbs and get something for presents. I think my cameras are already spoken for and sounds like I'm not getting one. Family will probably have the Doorbuster deals aka Cam, Frame Amp Speaker Poo Hoo.... Why not take a peek if your stores have that Portable DVD player for $50. Looks nice and the employee advised its in specific stores. I'm thinking they're going to test trial it and see if its a success or not, who knows with CVS.
This week doesnt look so happening with deals except Gas X Revlon and something else I saw, can't remember now but its not like Last week.... As I chow on some dark Chocolate. 60% cacao.

I was only able to do 3 orders on Thanksgiving and 3 orders yesterday because there are actually things in life outside CVS - I can't believe I said that. With $800+ I have to use an average of $200 ECBs per week. I probably do 10-15 orders a week. I get everything I can at CVS - milk, eggs, juice, soda, frozen food, newspapers, greeting cards, wrapping paper, toys, batteries, even logs for the fire! I seem to always come out with more ECBs than I spend. I use alot of CVS and manufacturers coupons, but I have never bought coupons from the clippers. I have gotten extra printables from the library computers. I don't use expired q's. I still can't believe I have to spend $800+ before Christmas!!

Time to go to CVS!

I rolled all my ECB's in the last 2 days so that they don't expire untill 12/17 or 12/24. I'm glad I waited on some of the monthlies so I could do this. I started last week with $115 and I ended with $180 and a car load of stuff. I noticed some of the Dec deal products in the stores last night, so I will be getting those on Saturday night. Looks like Xmas will be on CVS again this year. :lmao:

I would have hundreds in ecb, but I bought 4 of the digital picture frames and chair massager, then 3 times returned items to get the lower sale price and rebought using ecb. So now I have over $200 in moneycards and about $150 in ecb.

I did all of the weekly deals today and about broke even. I got DH some Breathright strips and saline nasal spray and a few other things he likes but didn't give back anything. I also got the Revlon stuff, Pond's, Garnier, and Stomach deals. DD(7) went with me and bought herself some candy and a tiny snowglobe that was only $.99. She paid just over $3 and it just about killed me to see her spending cash at CVS when I have so much in ecb and moneycards! But, she needs to learn to manage her money, and the only way is to let her use it. Still!

I have trouble even spending $20 ECB because my totals are always so low after ManuQ and CVS Q's. But, I'm sure you'll find *something* to spend it all. If you find nothing, you can always buy toilet paper or something like that to stock up on :lmao:

It really is good to have kids pay for stuff in cash...... their own. Good for them to have to EARN it somehow, decide what to buy and then watch the CASH slip from their hands. Sometimes my kids would be fine with my money going but when it was money that I GAVE them to spend (didn't even have to earn that money) they decided they really didn't want to spend it on that item...... so they didn't get it.

You can teach her how to use coupons and make her money last longer once she is used to spending money.

Has anyone tried using the $2 Garnier printable moisturizer Q or Garnier Nutrisse Q on the Fructis haircare that generates the $4 ECB. BF needs me to pick him up a bottle of gel. :shake:

Also, Colgate toothpaste is on sale this week for $2.50. The CVS $1.50 Colgate 6.0 oz Q works on the 4.2 oz. Combine this with a $1 MANU Q and it's FREE, making it a great filler! Not that I need anymore toothpaste, but I can't resist freee, especially @ CVS! It's a sickness I tell you! ::lol::

In past any garnier q has worked for any garnier product, so it should work. Sometimes the printable ones beep for any item, I don't know why. But if they work at all they should work on anything (they have never beeped for me but some say they do).
:secret: The last time those big poos had an ECB deal I used one of the BOGO hair color q's on them. The cashier knew it was different but she said since it didn't beep for anything but to have the price entered that she didn't have any problems taking it. It's very YMMV but if it works it really improves the deal.

If you can print the $1.50 off man. q then that tp is a $ maker.
Although at this point tp needs to make me more than 50 cents for me to be willing to buy it. :teehee:

Yeah, unfortunately, I am sure. The only Fructis gets are the regular-sized one in the Styling section. I think the "big gel" in the deals thread is a typo...the ad says 25.4oz. Shampoo or Conditioner or 10.2oz Deep Conditioner. HTH! :)

I thought the $1.50 Cotonelle coupon would work on the Cottonelle 12pk for $5.99, but the coupon is on tripple layer and the one on sale is double layer. Even with the coupon each roll is still .374 and not near as good of deal as the Scotts 4pk for .50 AC at .12 a roll was a while back at walgreens.

What are some cheap filler items under a quarter? Any under 10 cents?

Thanks for the clarification! I repped ya! I don't need *any* more shampoo or conditioner, but with the $2 Q or BOGO, that makes it too sweet a deal to pass up! :lmao:

:teehee:

Thanks Miranda! I used the $2 Q before as well and it worked, just wanted to make sure it would again. I'm sure it will, so I shall try it out! :yummy:

Thanks to everyone for the advice, I went tonight and had a good run! $47.xx down to $14.xx. $12 of that was champagne I found clearanced. Having a big party in a few weeks, I wanted to stock up on that.

I also got $10 in ECB's from Benefiber. I'll be repeating that deal later this week! Thanks everyone!

BTW, check your liquor department. Mine had 15 bottles of Frexeneit Champagne for $3. They're usually $7.99 at most stores, and are a decent dry champagne from Spain.

Thank you!

Oh thanks for letting me know, cause I was about to call the newspaper customer care. I was going to call them today when customer care was open. I was completely mad yesterday...LOL

There are plenty of SD'ers here in Austin, the stores are always wiped out and I have actually run into a few of them trying to find the same things I was looking for. I did find one store that actually had full stock of EVERYTHING that had ECBs. I'm not telling where, incase someone is "watching", but I am soooo happy I found it!!! Always nice to find that one over looked store that has shelf after shelf of things on your shopping list! :)

Still recovering from BF sale at CVS! Did anyone else get rainchecks for the camera? My CVS gave me 2-$59.99 for the Kodak because they can't give ECBs! Yea-w/ coupons and ECBs-I can get a new camera for no OOP!

Yes, this is me too. I had a blast Saturday night. I found two Nova's so I did quite a bit of Christmas shopping! In my excitement I forgot to get a r/c for the camera. Oh well.

I am now at a total of $807 in ECBs with just 2 cards - there is no way I could handle more than 2.

holy cow..$800+ in ECB? that is just nuts. I don't let my ECBs go over $120 because I know they will expire..but anyways how do you do it? any secrets? I thought I was doing decent with $120 but I guess I wouldn't mind having more now because holidays are coming up and I can buy perfumes, some small electronics..etc.

Yeah, I'd like to know goirish's secret too. I've been doing the ECB thing for years and this has left me --> High five to amassing that many!

The Revlon Flair Perfume is on sale for $8.99 this week. It is included in the $7 off of frragrances. The $5 printable Flair coupon expires today, but great deal if you combine it with the other weekly deals!

Good catch! There is also a $2 manuf. cpn in a recent All You magazine. I hope that CVS cpn still works. This perfume smells great IMO!

Still!

Shar0713, the chair you bought...is that the one that has the ECB deal in Dec.? If so, did you get the $10 for the massager chair?

I know what you mean about DD's buying stuff for cash at CVS. Mine is 7 too. She uses her own money and loves to go with me to CVS. One time I needed a filler so I had her pay for the order which was under $0.75. Well after that, she wanted her own card!

I gotta question, Has anyone tried the Toothbrush Sanitizer thing thats a weekly deal this week??? Also I just saw a commercial for Vicks Hand Sanitizer, Has anyone seen this or its Spray at CVS??? TIA...

I'm curious about this stuff as well.

I haven't but I thought it looked pretty cool. From the picture, it looks like you can use it for disposable razors, too. I signed up for the free Philips one through bzzagant but it hasn't shown up yet. Thinking about getting the CVS one, too. The Philips looks like it only has a place for one electric toothrush though while the one in the ad could hold all of our manual toothprushes. DD has 5 toothbrushes.....and since she likes to brush everything within reach with her toothbrush, it would be nice to sanitize them besides washing them in antibacterial soap everyday!!

Benefiber: 6.99
Gas X: 3.29

Minus:
$2/$10
$2 Benefiber printable from cvs
$2 Benefiber manu coupon
$4 ECB

Get back $10 ECB

If you have the gas x coupon from the paper then you only need 3 ecbs.

Even if you can't use the Printable benefiber coupon still a mnoey maker with $5 ecbs used.

I love everyone there except the manager and her little protege that sometimes fills in there. Apparently they have had conversations about me and my coupon use!

But I promise I did not wipe out the 3 day sale stuff there! I went there on Friday and only did one small deal and had already done a bunch of the free after ecb deals at different stores!
But they were already wiped out of stuff. I actually found 3 things all left together on a shelf that were all free after ecb deals! There is another woman who shops there and buys up a lot of the deals! I did find a Nova there that day though! I am going to PM you!

If they won't take the $2 one, then use the $1 one from the diabetes book. Or use both if they let you, the one CVS q per item only means as many items as coupons in the system, the cashier might care but the register won't. If you have enough other items and got one or more of the digestive remedies CRTs then throw those in too.

I did that deal on all my accounts yesterday so as to not have to worry about the beeping diabetes book coupon and expired printable, but yeah.......... the register will actually accept more than one cvs coupon for a particular item if you have enough total items in the order. I did that with the excedrin deal........ one $2.00 manu, one $2.00 printable and one $1.00 crt and it only cost $3.79 and I got back $3.79. One of my better deals.

yes, this has been covered quite a bit..here is how to do it:

What you're advocating is trying to trick a cashier into doing something they could get in trouble for. Also, some of the systems won't do it anymore. They'll stop taking any kind of coupon once the giftcard threshhold is reached. CVS has been good to us. I don't ever do anything that would get a less knowledgable cashier in trouble if his/her supervisor walked by.

mikebecky
11-26-2007, 08:57 PM
Lets start with a simple example. Say you are buying Rogaine worth $20 and have a $10 manufacturer's coupon. For simplicity assume that the item is not taxed. Normally if you had a $10 ECB, you would give the item, the $10 ECB and the $10 coupon and owe nothing.

But lets say that you also had a $20 ECB. So you give them the Rogaine and the CVS gift card and tell them that you would like a $10 CVS gift card. Now you give them the $20 ECB. The system will take it since the ECB covers the price of the Rogaine, so you still owe $10 for the gift card. Now you give them the coupon. The system will take it and your balance will be now zero.

So you've effectively used part of your ECB to buy a gift card.

In real life it is more complicated because you have several items you are purchasing and several ECBs that you'd like to use. But the concept is the same.

This can be done but it is EXTREMELY YMMV. In order for this to be successful, you need a perfectly planned attack with the stars in alignment, a manager having a good day, your brain working in math-mode despite the three margaritas you had the previous night (ok, I digress).

The important thing to remember is that the value of your manu coupons must exceed the value of the gift card, so for a $25 GC you'll need at least $25 in manus. You will also need to plan this out in advance because you'll need to hand over the ECB's before the manus so you need to know exactly what amount of ECB's you will need . I managed to do this over the weekend (I was 1 for 2 attempts).
Here's what I did:
I bought 2 garnier, stomach meds, colgate, and a One Touch Mini. I had the $30 One Touch coupon (reduced to $20), 2 $1 Garnier manus, 1 $2 Benefiber Manu, & a $1 colgate. That totalled $25 in manus.

So, it looked like this:

Garnier: 7.79
Garnier: 7.79
Benefiber: 11.99
Colgate: 2.99
One Touch Mini: 19.99
Best Buy GC: $25

Total: 75.55

First, hand over the $/$$ coups:
-5/30
-4/20
-3/15
-2/10

Subtotal: 61.55

Now (here's the tricky part), you need to hand over the ECB's now. I know that I have $25 in manus, so I hand the cashier $36 in ECB's. That brings the total to $25.55. (If you give them too many ECB's, I don't think the system will take them. If you give too little, you'll be paying more OOP).

Now I give the cashier the $1 Colgate, $2 Benefiber, 2 x $1 Garnier, & $30 One Touch (which needed adjustment down to $20).

The $36 in ECB's were applied to the other products, which left the $25 in manus to pay for the GC. OOP total was $0.55.

So I spent $36 in ECB's, got back $18 and a $25 BB GC.

Will this work if you hand the ECB's last? I have no idea but judging from the comments here I don't think it will and I'm not about to chance it.

Mind you, this takes years of practice and a mensa-level IQ. Flirting with the cashier and manager will probably be required as well, but in my case being a guy I don't think the male cashier and manager (or my wife, for that matter), would have appreciated that approach. I guess I just lucked out.

It was the MANAGER that sold me my GC today - so I'm not tricking anyone !

She doesn't mind me getting cvs GS's, because she knows that either I or the person I give it to will spend it there eventually  I happen to think that is a fabulous policy - letting me get a cvs giftcard makes me a happy customer and will bring a new customer (the gift-ee) to her door.

That manager also takes expired ecb's (so long as they are only expired by a few days)
- I know that not all stores will do that either, that's why I  my cvs !

The only thing that my cvs will not do is give GC's for the ecb's from rainchecks.. (I have read that other cvs's do that - which just seems like another way to turn ecb's into GC's)

ooops you're right :) I changed my post

wow..

and you can still get the Gift Cards that way ???

I thought that the only way to get the gift cards was to put the manu last... live and learn :) I only got my first CVS giftcard from notavailable's system today, so I'm still learning

Ohh No sorry, I must have missed the previous posts, that is just how I hand my Q's over. I DO NOT use ECB's or $$ off Q's to buy gift cards. I'm just not into to all that. Not my bag baby!

There are some managers out there who are happy to sell GCs this way, but it is rare. If you can find one, then great. Otherwise, trying to sneak a GC deal past a regular cashier could get them into trouble and it may not work anyway.

oh sheesh.. I just want to say that I'm not trying to advocate getting anyone in trouble.. someone posted that you absolutely couldn't get the giftcard, which wasn't correct..

My CVS manager was so friendly about the whole thing today, that I didn't expect get all the implications that I was being underhanded or anything.

I mean, that info has been on sd for so long, I figure it is like stacking - a big ymmv as to whether or not your cvs (and manager, of course) allows it..

It's obvious that you were being very open about it and it was the mgr who allowed it which is perfectly fine. You didn't do anything wrong so don't worry. This is kind of like stacking. my cvs also lets me used expired cvs q's, so long as they don't beep

Just wanted to ask if anyone has a theory about why CVS allows stacking? It must benefit them in some way because it seems like it would be so easy for them to stop it if they wanted to. All they would have to do is send out an email to every store saying to only accept one $ off $$ coupon per transaction.

There is this one manager who always has something rude to say whenever I use coupons. Last week, he said, "CVS knows about what you're doing and is planning on stopping it." I said, "Knows about what?" And, he said, "THE COUPONS!!!" Like using coupons is something that I'm getting away with that's wrong.

I'm sure he's right that CVS does know about stacking coupons. If they wanted to stop it, they could do so very easily. Why do some managers act like it's a crime to use coupons when higher ups in the company obviously approve of it?

The store managers can't read the email sent on how to ring up the NovaMax coupon, so how can they expect them to comprehend only taking one $$ off coupon per transaction?

And I'd bring in a recorder and tape that manager's comments then send it to corporate. That kind of discrimination is not to be tolerated. I can only imagine what he says to those who pay with their government sponsored discount cards.

This can be done but it is EXTREMELY YMMV. In order for this to be successful, you need a perfectly planned attack with the stars in alignment, a manager having a good day, your brain working in math-mode despite the three margaritas you had the previous night (ok, I digress).

Mind you, this takes years of practice and a mensa-level IQ. Flirting with the cashier and manager will probably be required as well, but in my case being a guy I don't think the male cashier and manager (or my wife, for that matter), would have appreciated that approach. Since their system was updated in June, getting a gift card with ecbs has just been too much trouble. Not worth the time, frustration or shortness of breath it causes - and that's from someone who is pretty brave when it comes to standing up for myself.

I agree...and as crystal327 suggested, getting gift cards with ecbs might be something you just don't kiss and tell about. As someone else suggested, SD's records could always be subpeona'd. Were that to happen, there are some folks around here who should be scared - very scared!

Alright, I think I might do one more run this week since we are running low on paper towels.

8pk Paper Towels 3.99 * 3 = 11.97
Hersheys Kiss BOGO 2.99
Robitussin 6.99
-Free Robitussin CPN from Recall 6.99
- 1 off 2 Hershey Kiss
- 2 off 10 CVS Brand CPN
-4off 20 CVS CPN =

7.96 cents.

I think its a decent deal since we need the paper towels and that would make them like .33 cents a roll. I've got some ECB's to spend on this anyway.

How did you get a Free Robitussin coupon? I went to their site and I didn't see anything about one. Did you have to call it in?

Yes, you call them about the recall and give them the lot number and expiration date. It's the recall due to the incorrect dosage cup. There was a thread about it somewhere on slickdeals. They sent me two free coupons good for Robitussion product up to 7.99.

So I just got back from a quick CVS run to go get the Flair. They were out of the regular bottles :o( But they did have the gift sets from 19.99. The $5 expired coupon did not beep and rang up fine, the system would not accept any $ off $ coupon because I was only buying the one thing, but he did say I could use the manufacturer $2 Flair coupon I had from the All You. Basically I got $7 off the gift set and got to use a couple expired ECBs I forgot I had. He price adjusted my $4 ecb, cause my total was only $3.24 and put it at 2.99 and my total due was $0. I have never had that happen before where I didn't owe any tax, is this normal?

Yes, in Texas this is ok. In this case, I would suggest you add in a candy bar, since your ecb definitely would have covered it. But sometimes, when my total is $3.92 and I have a $4 ecb I want to use, I'll ask them to adjust it, so I don't have to pay anything. If they don't do it right, you'll go negative, and then have to add something more in.

Is everyone having luck with the Nova monitors still? I had tried to get one to get the $20 ECB but the cashier could not get the coupon to go through. I asked her about it again on a later trip the store and she said that CVS had made a mistake with that coupon/deal. I am wondering if I should try getting them at another store? I had no problem finding any..just trouble using the coupon. I would love to have some more ECB for Christmas shopping.

Good Morning! I found one a couple of days ago and yes, they had issues with the coupon. I politely told the lady that I bought one before and they had to put it in as a CVS coupon. I believe this has been mentioned by someone else and it was great advise! That is exactly what she did and it went through just fine and I got the ECBs. :yummy:

for me, it's

Items ----> CVS Coupons ----> ECB's----> Manu Coupons

just in case the CVS coupons are not all accepted. that way i can throw in more ECB's if needed.:)

Haven't done the GC deal in quite a while, though. Last time I tried, store manager waited and waited until the end of the transaction before he would scan it.

Ditto - and I always mess up and need to use more ECB's.

Mini celebration, I found a NOVA today and the manager kindly adjusted the $50 coupon to cover the $29.99 cost! :dance13:   It also produced the ECBs. :) First one I've found where I could use the coupon.

I did not get the Pond's ECBs on my receipt, I just noticed this!! I bought two of the $6.99 containers and no ECBs! Anyone else have this problem, or did I get the wrong size?

Also, here's a heads up on a great coupon to use in next week's P&G deals!! (Aren't Duracell batteries part of that deal..? If not, please ignore this. ) I found some peelie q's on large packs of Duracell batteries for $2.50 off each pack! They say "Redeem at CVS" but they also say manufacturer's coupon on them on the flip side, too, so I'm not sure if you could use an additional manufacturer's q or not. EDIT: Oh, bummer, these q's are for the 16 battery pack. The sale next week appears to be for the 8 battery pack.

The lot # is on the bottle as well. The ones that have been recalled are no longer on the shelf. They've already corrected the items by putting the new measuring cup, and the bottles on the shelf will have the new lot #s, so those won't work. When I called, all the info I needed to give was on the side of the label.

I tried for the first time to use a printed coupon at my local CVS last week. It was a $1 Advil coupon printed directly from Wyeth's website. It scanned with no problem but the cashier started scrutinizing it and then called over an assistant manager who also scrutinized it and then told me sorry, they don't take internet coupons because of problems with counterfeits. I was mortified first, furious by the time I got out to the car. But in the store, I was just stunned into silence.

There is no sign in the store about such a policy, so the whole incident gave every appearance that there was a specific problem with me and my coupon. Basically she was accusing me of fraud in front of a store full of customers and other employees, over one coupon for $1 off on one bottle of Advil. I had no chance to respond, of course, even though I knew that I had just printed the coupon off Wyeth's website half an hour earlier.

I was so proud of myself that day, too. It was the first time I managed to align the stars in a very modest little scoop. I had a bill of around $30 where I had a coupon for every one of my items, ECB's for some of them, and a $4 off 20 for the sale as well. Not as good as the deals all the CVS veterans are doing, but I was happy. The other coupons were from the glossy inserts and obviously not printed out at home. This was the only "home printed" one, but no less legitimate.

I felt awful about the whole experience and still feel sick to my stomach. I learned you need a special kind of armor to withstand being accused of fraud, even if it is in front of strangers. I see that everyone apparently uses Internet coupons frequently and I know they are legitimate - after all, the manufacturers are offering them. So how do you deal with such incidents, when store managers refuse to accept them with vague explanations - but no sign posted in the store - of previous problems with counterfeits?

I think each store can decide to accept or not accept Internet coupons but I know how you feel and they didn't need to make you feel like a criminal. (For ONE coupon they certainly could have said "We don't take these but we'll take this one, this one time....") I'd call / email customer service and tell them exactly what you just said and how you felt and how you don't know if you can ever shop in that store again.

My CVS stores rarely turn down a coupon that will scan but I've had problems at Albertsons. My response normally is to tell them to just take that item off, I can go else where and buy it with the coupon. Try not to take it all too seriously, you know you didn't do anything wrong.

Just tell them to take the item off. If it messes up your order because you don't have enough to get to the $/$$ level you used a coupon for the register won't know and rarely the cashiers remember. If it messes up your order because you had already given your ecbs and now you can't use your manus you planned on using, tell them to void the entire thing and start over without the advil.

Anyway....... use the coupon in the wiki (it was there a few days ago I think) for advil. It was for $2.00 off.

I would have demanded to know when CVS changed their coupon policy. As they do accept internet coupons. And then ask them how was you suppose to redeem them, drag the whole computer on down to the store? What a idiot that mgr. was! Mine has never said the first word about internet coupons. When it beeps they just push it on through as long it is something I bought correctly. And to be honest, my Q's from the paper sometimes beep too though they are legit.

The mgr. was working tonight so I didn't try it with the Nova coupons even though he seems very nice. He did let me stack two $3/$10 and that was the first time I was allowed to do it. I ask before we started if we could do it in one transaction otherwise I said I was more than happy to do two. He said, Thats not necessary. :) Made my day, so I didn't push my luck with the Nova. Though there is FOUR sitting on the shelf. FOUR. I am however going back tomorrow and doing it when my favorite cashier is working. :)

IMO, it doesn't sound like they were accusing you. Lots of stores won't take internet q's because so many are counterfeit. That doesn't mean that they all are, it just means that it's risky to take them.
I would just explain that you got the coupon off the man. website and show them the unique code. If they still say no, I agree with coupon_dealer, have them take off the item. I've heard the whole fraud/copied q's speech a few times, I don't take it personally. I just tell them how I got the coupon, then they either take it or they don't. I have no problems having items removed from my order.

I would have demanded to know when CVS changed their coupon policy. As they do accept internet coupons.

kjegbert is right, it's up to the individual store.
I can't blame retailers for being suspicious. Sadly, there are many cases on SD of people scanning q's and sharing them after they are no longer available online or people continuing to use coupons that the manufacturer has said are fraudulent and there are people just taking one printed q to a copy machine. Retailers are losing $ when people do things like this and they don't know which of us are like that and which aren't. :(

When I contacted CVS Extra Care CS one time over not getting a ECB I had them tell me their coupon policy, chain wide. In one part of it they said they do accept internet coupons, as long as they are not copies, but it is up to the store how many of them they can accept. My store has never given me an issue on a internet coupon. I am lucky.
Really doesn't matter though, cause we all know that some managers/cashiers will just make up rules as they go along that are in direct conflict of most CVS policies. And it can either work to your advantage or disadvantage.
I am sure there are many people here committing coupon fraud, some are unaware they are doing it. As they are assuming the coupons being passed on to them are legit. Not only that some of the methods of using coupons that are people are told to do here are not legit, yet it is being done. Retailers though will never stop taking them, they will try to limit how they are abused and move on, and another SDer will figure out a way around it. Such is the world live in, right? LOL

i also had issues w/ the photo book & am not sure if it is worth the effort at all!! went to the store just to get the 6X8 book that gives back $3 ecb. guess what, they don't have the right machines!!! only machines for the 4X6 & 8x10!! well, since i drove so far, i decided to get the 4x6 since i thought that it was a substitution. it took me about 30 minutes to make the layout for the book and after i ordered it i thought that i would get it back in minutes, instead, they said that it would take 1 hour!!! came back later to pay & low & behold no ecb's so i asked about it & they said it was the wrong size!!! of course, they don't even sell the 6x8. i am definitely going to call customer service on this one. hope that the rest of you are having better luck than me!

I also tried to get the photobook. I went and set it all up (it seemed really easy to me) for a 6x8. It printed within a couple of minutes. The problem was the actual book itself. They only got a big book (which they couldn't print the size for). Then he couldn't find the directions, finally we got all the pieces that came in the boxes together and figured out how to do it but still didn't have the right size book. I told him I would be back in later in the week after the truck and see if they found or got in the right size book. Otherwise the manager (new guy  ) is going to get one transferred for me. They seem pretty nice though

yes, this has been covered quite a bit..here is how to do it:

see notavailable's post here (http://forums.slickdeals.net/showpost.php?p=8339213&postcount=484)

I can see how that works, but even after all the reading I have done, I still am confused as to whether you can get any other type of gift cards (like the itunes, etc)
I have been reading these threads for an hour , and color me confused :lmao:

Plus, I am horribly depressed after reading the CVS BF thread lol ..I sure wish I had seen that thread before it was too late!

I was at my mom's for Thanksgiving and saw the ad in the paper, but had no chance to go to the store. So I had a friend take me on Friday (still had unfortunately not seen the BF thread) and I got one razor, one box of chocolate and one energy drink, all without coupons to make the deal better. They were out of the video mp3 player which I had hoped to get for my daughter, using whatever ecbs I got and a little cash.
I have maybe $20 to my name right now, so I was just able to get those few things plus a cpl of necessaries. I havent looked at the December monthly deals yet, hopefully there are some really good deals since Christmas is closing in! (I am still kind of a cvs virgin, at least as far as slickdealers are concerned...so thank you to everyone for all your helpful posts, I think I am catching on. This time Im going to print out the wiki with the weekly cvs deals and coupons and make sure I am truly getting the best deal!)

I'm actually kind of scared to try using all these coupons and ecbs at once for the first time...the manager at my local cvs is a real JERK, I have had to deal with him before a few times. Once I brought in something I had paid cash for but lost my receipt. He refused to give me an exchange or store credit, I forgot what his bs reason was, but he would not budge on it.
He made me feel like a criminal, and always is rude and obnoxious when behind the counter. UGh.

Those of you having trouble using IPQ's should point out to the store employees that each coupon has a differnt serial/pin number that makes it an authentic coupon, else they are copies. Let them see that they are different on each of your coupons. Win their confidence and trust in you. If that still doesn't work, make note of names of the employees and tell them that you are going to call 1.800.shop.cvs. You might even make the call right there on your cell phone in front of them. HQ might even call the store back right then and there and tell them to accept your IPQ's. Give the person you speak with the store number/address and the names of the employees that are refusing your IPQ's. Again, inform the person on the phone that you have imformed the store employee's of the different serial/pin numbers on each coupon, thus making them authentic. The most important thing is to stay calm and collective. If you get upset and irate, you won't get your way.

I think here in my home we call that Name Tag Courage, LOL Sorta like, I have a name tag and I am important mentality. What a jerk. Everytime I read things like this I wanna go kiss my stores employees, LOL They are really good and never had an issue except the one flippin' time I go to a store that is 24 hours (and not my regular one) and had a asst. mgr give me grief about the Nova coupon.
I say if your coupons are legit, roll on and stand up for yourself. One store mgr told me he LOVES coupons cause it increases his profits. Smart man. :)

Emphasis on the " if your coupons are legit" part.

I don't care what anyone else does, but I am in CVS so often that I sure don't want to get flagged for using 'iffy' coupon combos, just to save a few dollars.
It would cost me far more in the future , not to mention the stress.
I do all I can to live a stress-free life.
Even if a store doesn't take my coupons today, there is always tomorrow and always another deal.
That said, I do point out that my coupon is appropriate when challenged. But when I feel my blood pressure rising, I "know when to fold 'em" as Kenny Rogers says.

I also did not get ECB on the ponds deal..I will bring them back today

I have 2 questions:

1. Does the Revlon $2 cosmetic coupon work on the $3.99 nail polish ...and does it beep?

2. Does the $1 beauty tool coupon work on the$1.79 emery board and does it beep?

:shake: I have very strict cashiers at my CVS and they will not 'push thro' any coupon that beeps...so to avoid the hassle, if it beeps - I will just NOT do the Revlon deal.

Thanks!

When I tried using the $2 Revlon cosmetic coupon a few weeks ago during the B1G1 sale it beeped on me. My cashier just handed it back to me and I lost $2 (I didn't remove the product because I didn't want to end up with an odd # and "lose" the "free")

there is a 2 off Revlon coupon off any face product. The coupon shows some foundations. The weird thing is that the coupon beeped for the concealer but didn't beep for the eye shadows.
