So I walk in to CVS last night with a couple prescriptions from my dentist. A lady at the front entrance saw me with my prescription at hand. She handed me coupons to get free gift cards. Even though the coupon says "with each new or transferred prescription", they still gave it to me(a returning customer) without questions or hassle. In this case YMMV, but I don't think this should be an issue. I did try to use the gift card to pay for my co-pay, but I was denied. It would've been more of a slick deal. :( At least I got a $50 gift card.

this coupon is with the CVS coupons . . . I think that is where I got mine. I went last week and got my daughter's Epi Pen, and they let me pay for it with the gift card !!!! Last week, OOP $0. Got Over $50.00 worth of merchandise, and still have $6.00 on the gift card AND $4 ECB.

Thanks! Where can I find original coupon?
My CVS gives me hard time everytime I bring in the printed/photocopied coupon for pharmacy.

I got one in an email and printed it off. My mom used one last week for a new script and one of the printables this week.

Last night when she went in and used one, her CRT printed out another "get $25 with new or transferred script" on it.

OP.... It means new prescription not new customer which is why she handed them to you.

Use the Rite Aid 30 for new and transferred prescription, they come every week for me in cal,
I use them on the copay no problem.
Too bad target wont take coupons any more, but kmart does so use them there.

Some Targets still do, it's a YMMV deal. $25 at CVS can get you a lot of merchandise. Just check out the CVS threads for proof. I think some people could live for a year off of 1 $25 CVS card :lmao:

My last visit to CVS for a prescription I was told we don't have that but after a telephone call they said their store about 5 miles away had it so off I went. When I got there there were a couple of people in front of me dropping off prescriptions and when I heard the girl tell one of them it would be four hours before they could fill hers I promptly left and went to a local independent drug store and got my prescription filled. I have never gone back to CVS for another prescription and don't intend to. They clearly think their time is more important than mine and I disagree.

that's where all the coupons are. If your burg is too small, buy a paper from the nearest mid/big city. CVS has been offering this for quite some time, other chains are starting to match.

Always see if your prescription is on Walmart's $4 drug list first. That will save so much than all the over-priced drugs at your local pharmacies like CVS, Walgreen, RiteAid, Longs...

You can also get the coupons on ebay. I missed the last set in my paper so I bought 8 for about $2  . I know, I had to buy them but I got $75 back...so it was worth it. I'ved given a few away and I have one more to use. You can also use the gift card to pay for future prescriptions.

My friend, you obviously have no idea how a pharmacy runs.

Target will accept competetors' coupons, if the prescription is new to them or if the last fill was elsewhere. Or bring in your empty prescription to the other. (Don't call it in to one and hope to fill it at another.)

Besides taking CVS coupons, my local Kmart also price matches other pharmacys, including Costco --- which makes for some really good deals.

Your Target still accepts them? I asked at 3 different ones and got the same story everyone else has, not after November 4th, corporate policy.

Just came back from CVS. They would not take the coupons because they could not scan the bar code because it is a copy. I said then type it in with your fingers. Still wouldn't take them.

Mine wouldn't scan either but the manager did type the codes in. It told her for the first one I used the coupon yesterday and the 2nd one I used it today. Obviously that was wrong as I had never got a prescription filled at CVS before. I wish I would have seen these coupons before last night as my Dad got 4 scripts filled there yesterday :(

She at first said she was going to have to call corporate to see how to handle the coupon saying it had already been used but she just ended up overriding the giftcards.

The targets in my area changed that policy a few weeks ago and no longer take competing coupons.

NY and NJ have laws that prohibit coupons for prescriptions. Some of the reasoning is in this article http://www.communitycatalyst.org/press_room?id=0017

Yep PAL testified to the FDA in 2005 and are currently pushing the following:

"Consumer-directed coupons for prescription drugs are a completely inappropriate form of DTCA and should be flatly prohibited. The FDA should promulgate regulations to this effect."

This means NO MORE CVS PRESCRIPTION COUPONS  for anyone in the country.

The FDA is still studying it but lets hope that don't enact this proposal from PAL. :shake:

does anyone know if walgreens takes competitors coupons?

so, if I receive a new prescription with, say, 1 refill, I could go to Target and use the $25 competitor CVS coupon and then have my refill transferred to CVS and use a 2nd coupon? $50 off of one prescription- Is that shady?

cvs won't be taking competitors as of Jan 08 - at least that is what I was told recently at a CVS - the prescription coupons are really getting nailed - but you really shouldn't be using these because they aren't printable coupons with a genera code - the only thing would be using them for competitor purposes.

I was able to get two $25 GC @ Orlando, FL.

The coupon did not scan but the pharmacy people paged the manager and the manager did something and gave me the card. It happened twice with the same manager but he did not care. Good for me :-)

CVS Refused my $25 transferred prescription coupon tonight. The register told them that I had already redeemed this coupon. They are keeping track of the gift cards now and only let you use one. This sucks. Anyone else experience this?
