The Ad/Deals thread for this week is HERE (http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?sduid=59052&t=672889).

There are two CVS threads for each weekly ad. So, how do you know what to put where?
- Anything that everyone needs to know should go in the Ad/Deals thread (prices, coupons, what worked that shouldn't have, what didn't work that should have). The Wiki post (always the 2nd post in a thread) is updated constantly by users just like you!

- Ask yourself: "Does someone who is checking this thread via dialup before going to CVS really need to know this information?" If not, put it in the Discussion thread!

- Other stuff like questions, scenarios, what you plan to buy, what you bought, how great the deals are, how bad the deals are, chat where you're getting to know other SD CVS'ers etc, should all go in the discussion thread for each week.

Keeping track of all the CVS threads:
Subscribe to the threads you want to keep track of. (See links below)

To subscribe to a thread when you're already in the thread:
- go to the top of the page
- click on Thread Tools on the upper right hand side
- click Subscribe to this thread

To see the threads you've subscribed to, click "User CP". It's at the top of every page on the left. Any of your subscribed threads that have new posts will show in the center of the page. You can also click “View all subscribed threads” to see all threads, whether they have new posts or not.

(You can also 'sticky' every CVS thread to the top (also under Thread Tools), so if you go into Hot Deals or Deal Talk or Coupons you see all CVS threads at the top of the page.)

NEW: Too many pages in your CVS threads?
You can change your settings to show more posts per page, with the maximum being 40 posts per page. (This lets you scroll down more without having to keep hitting 'next page')

Go to “User CP”
Click on “Edit Options”
Scroll down until you see "Use this option to set the number of posts to show in a thread before splitting the display into multiple pages."
You'll see a drop down box where you can select the Number of Posts to Show Per Page.
If you make a change be sure to scroll down to the bottom and click on “Save Changes”

I have 2 tearpads for $1 off Maybelline Lash Discovery mascara to give away (also good on Expert Wear Quad eyeshadow or soft lining pencil). Anyone want them for the BOGO mascara?

Update: gone to MamaCentral

I could really use some help this week:wink2: I have 40 ecb expiring and I need ideas. I've already done the free monthly items except the energy shots which I can't find. Please help me "roll" some of these. I usually do small orders and get confused when trying to spend this many.

Ok,here is what I worked out for next week. I only have one razor cpn, so I had to do the deal with some shave gels.

The excedrin 24 count is 4.49, so I'm thinking I'll get:
First Deal
----------------
3 24 cts = 13.47
CVS tissues = 99 cents
1 20 ounce coke = 1.49
=15.95
- 5 off 15 cvs cpn
- Free 20 ounce coke coupon from coke rewards
- free tissue cpn
-3 (2.00 off mfg for excedrin)
= 2.47

Second Deal
2 24 cts = 8.98
CVS tissues .99
J&J baby shampoo 1.99
fusion shave gel 3.99
=15.95
-5 off 15
-2 (2.00 mfgs for excedrin)
-2 dollar off j&J cvs cpn
-1 dollar off J&J mfg=
-1 shave gel pn
2.96

Third Deal:
Fusion razor 9.99
CVS tissues .99
2 shave gels 3.99 each = 7.98
=18.96
-5 off 15 CVS
-.99 tissue
-4.00 mfg razor cpn
- 3 1.00 shave gel =
5.97

So between the three deals, I'm spending 11.40 cents to earn 20 ECB's back.

Let me know if you see any ways to improve this!! I'm still a newbie.

Some suggestions on rolling your ECBs (I'm planning to do these along with Oasis, Energy drink, cvs cough drops):

Monthly deals with limit 5

Caress body wash - 3 ECB - $5.99
Therabreath toothpaste - 3 ECB - $8.99 ($5 q in Dec deals)
Neutrogena men's products - 5 ECB when you buy for $20($5 q in smartsource or coupons.com - forget which)
Biore scrub/moisturizer - 3 ECB - $5.99 ($2 q near the product in store)
Garnier hair color - 3 ECB (I think there were some Garnier q's in sunday paper - check Dec deals WIKI) - $5.99

Weekly deal 12/16 - 12/22:

Gillette/Venus - 10 ECB when you buy for $20

I don't need any of the stuff I mention above (maybe the bodywash and men's products will be useful) but it will help me roll my ECBs. I'll first try to do it with Oasis, cough drops and if I can find it, the Energy drinks. The list above is just a back up.

If you have lots of expiring ECBs, why not buy an American Express gift card that will be good for a while, and you can use just about anywhere?

what i did was buy whatever i wanted. since i already rolled over that ecb and couldn't use it without knwing it needed to be ok'd by the manager... i had "money" to spend.

if you've done all the monthly and weekly deals, then all you can do is either wait next week (if you can) or just use it on whatever you want.

that's great except techincally since they changfed the ecb program on april 1st, they changed their computers. the register is supposed to be able to tell the cashier when they are nearing the gift card amount. and ecbs can't be used with gift cards.

CVS tissue coupon takes $1.15 off. This week it is on sale for $0.99 (regular price is $1.15) but took $1.15 off when they scanned. It didn't beep or anything. I just realized that when I looked my receipt after I got home.

While the Nature Made vitamins are BOGO buy RX essentials. You can get $5 printables off purchase of each of them from Smart Source or coupons.com. So you will get $10 off the cost of the two bottles. There is a rebate to get your purchase price free. The website is www.takerxessentials.com Click on "Try free" link and print the rebate form. You will get back the cost of one (up to $15.99), have two bottles of vitamins, and use at least a few of your excess EBs. (This is assuming the RX essentials will be BOGO. It is a Nature Made product so it should be.)

Several people were talking about this in another thread. A poster claimed they had bought $75 in AmEx cards, and were going back for more. Another poster said AmEx was the exception to the no GC rule, but that the amount of the cards would come off your quarterly spend.

Add a pack of batteries and try to find one with a $1.00 peelie coupon. Then use the $5.00 printed battery coupon, and the 5/15 instead of the the 3/15. You'll get the $5.29 batteries for $6.00 off less any sales tax. It'll lower your total spend a lot more.

Yeah...you can lower your OOP by $2.00 if you use the $5/$15...AND if you can manage a $5.00 Tylenol coupon you'll reduce it even further. One more thing you can print the $2.00 off Baby item and purchase the Johnsons Buddies Bar for less than $1.00 and the register gives the overage every time. AND YMMV I guess, but my CVS would allow me to stack the 5/15 and 2/10 together...this would mean 0 oop for you.:)

The $5 will work (adjusted down) on the vials but If you are going to use the $5 Q get two vials. The ECBs will only print on one but you will get both vials for free (the Q will be adjusted to $4.98).

Thanks for the pointer on the buddies bars but will that work? I bought the 1.99 shampoo with the Q and it beeped to be adjusted down.

Just to clarify WHY I am returning the Christmas tree, I didn't pay attewntion to the fact that there was one with all white lights and one multi colored. I bought clear when I should've bought multi colored. Because I have to buy things like that in my mom's car (me small car and too many kids) I just repurchased the multi one while I could and now need to return the clear. Make sense???

There are, on occasion, good reasons to return items to CVS, I don't think anyone is denying that. The comments made above clarify that.

Personally, if I were you, I would take it back with the receipt for both trees, and explain to the manager (before even bringing the box in) what happened. He can decide whether to do a return with receipt, or one without the receipt. But do it soon, or they won't be able to sell a holiday item like that.

How are the Christmas trees at CVS? Do they look decent?

We got the 6.5' muliticolored one. If you're used to having a 7.5' one (standard size), this one will look tiny and kind of bare. BUT, once we fluffed it out a little and got it all decorated, it actually looks really nice. I got mine of F&F day, so 30% off of $50, and paid in ecb. Not bad at all.

Kiddos already have their own trees and we have a 3 footer in the kitchen so no more trees for this family!! lol!

I'm spoiled, I usually have humongous live trees so they leave something to be desired for me. They probably would be perfect in apartments or other limited space environments because they are kinda slender.

I just wanted to stress that I wasn't trying to make a shady return. I actually ended up calling the store because I couldn't even find the receipt!! The manger gave me a money card for it with no problem. (After all we arer talking about a huge tree very unlikely I had stolen it) I'm thrilled to have that money on a card. I also have a little over $100 in ECBs si I can use the money card for $0 OOP right?

Today I went into CVS to get some of the Loreal Vive Pro shampoo that's B1G1 and I also had manu coupons for b1g1. The manager rung up all my things and says "Oh no you can't use these they are already b1g1." I said "I have used them here like this for over 2 years and it always worked" She said "Nope I won't take it." So I had her put it all back and was all humiliated in front of whoever was in line behind me. She made me out to be some scammer or something. I follow the rules and play fair there, but even then I know she doesn't like me because I can still get things for close to nothing a lot of times.

Is it their policy to deny manufacturer coupons?! I was so ticked. And of course those coupons expire today also... :( Was I in the wrong here??

no you weren't wrong. with these b1g1 sales and b1g1 coupons it's is definitely ymmv with getting it absolutely free. you weren't wrong in doing this, i think managers and cashiers alike have a problem with customers getting free items. so since this is totally free, they don't know what to do and make up some rule. i do hope that you didn't buy them and told them to void it. it was not your fault and please don't feel humiliated. if a cashier or manager tries to do that to you, then you need to stand up for yourself.

somehow telling you that you can't use it makes them more of a cashier.

So, I got some toddler wipes and some paper towels and soap that I needed, near free razors and excedrins, and free tissues and 30 shampoos and conditioners that I'm excited to try out (never bought this brand before, but hear that it's good...I hope so). The tax on the coupons is a pain. But, all-in-all I paid next to nothing for a whole bunch of stuff. Did pretty good, I think.

Merry shopping to all, and to all a good CVS trip!

I went to two CVS stores today. The first one I was able to use all of my coupons with no trouble. I actually went twice. This is what I bought:

Run #1:
one pack of energizer batteries - $5.29
4 bottles of L'Oreal shampoo.conditioner @ $4.99 / bottle
J&J safety swabs - $1.59
Playtex bottle drop-ins 50 count - $4.69

Subtotal: $31.53 + tax

-$5 off $15 CVS
-$5 energizer CVS
-$4.99 L'Oreal coupon
-$4.99 L'Oreal coupon
-$1 peely energizer
-$1 coupon

Total: $0.31

Run #2:
one pack of energizer batteries - $5.29
6 bottles of L'Oreal shampoo.conditioner @ $4.99 / bottle
8 pk of Bounty Basic - $6.49
CVS tissues - $1.15
Tide 100 oz - $7.99

Subtotal: $50.86 + tax

-$10 off $50 CVS
-$5 energizer CVS
-$4.99 L'Oreal coupon
-$4.99 L'Oreal coupon
-$4.99 L'Oreal coupon
-$1 peely energizer
-$1.15 Free CVS tissues

Total: $3.77 including tax

I went to another CVS in my area to get more shampoo inbetween these two runs and I was told by the manager that I could not use the L'Oreal B1G1 free coupon on top of CVS's B1G1. I told her that I had done it before and she said she'd take one coupon for the four bottles, which would have made it $4.99 for 4 bottles, but I said no thank you and went back to the first CVS. She wasn't rude about it, but still, I didn't see any reason for her not taking both coupons, other than she didn't want me to get all 4 bottles for free.

So, very YMMV. I had another 9 coupons, but I figured that I had enough shampoo and conditioner to last several months.

Today I went into CVS to get some of the Loreal Vive Pro shampoo that's B1G1 and I also had manu coupons for b1g1. The manager rung up all my things and says "Oh no you can't use these they are already b1g1." I would also call the cvs 800 #. The stores are highly scored on those calls and make a huge difference to the managers. It's a big numbers game.

That being said, my dh ( a cvs manager) loves his coupon ladies. They come in on Tuesdays and he gets a kick out of telling me what they got and for how much. They also share with him, which I love.

So I've been following the threads for awhile but lately I've really been reading and doing some really good deals at CVS. I have a few questions. I kind of feel like I'm scamming CVS. I walk out with 40 dollars worth of stuff for like .50. Should I not make it go so low? Are we doing anything illegal?:lmao: I just feel like this isn't real and I'm doing something I shouldn't do. I think I'm using all legit coupons. I only use one of each type each time I checkout. Any advice would be much appreciated. If you just want to PM me that would be okay too. I just want to make sure I'm doing everything legit. I don't want to cheat anyone.

Thanks!

The photo supervisor at one of my stores gave me kudos for an order much like the one above. He said they are cracking down on overridden coupons, so if it scans, it's golden.

CVS is still getting paid by the Manufacturer's for their coupons & from what I've heard for the ecb's printed. In my mind, I am boosting sales at 5 different stores and they are getting their money.

I'm sure there's some cvs employees that have more to say. :)

I've been doing it your way too, rekky. Got called a 'thread basher' by one person, but others have been nice about it. I hate to miss the new coupon info - when it comes - but wading through all that junk is just ridiculous!

I'm outta reps anyway, probably for the day!

Ok, this week I have $254 ECB expiring on one card and over $100 on the other. I know that there is no way to flip them all into new ECBs so I will have to blow a bunch on food and other items that i might actually use. I have to use $62 ECBs tonight - that will take at least 5 large orders. .....Bye

Energizer deal for ecb is over, but the batteries are still on sale for $5.29, so basically free with the $5 coupon, or a moneymaker if you have the $1 coupons.

According to the preview of next week 12/23-29 the Energizer deal will be repeated, so hold on until then to get EBs for buying batteries again.

Its 14.99, and B1G1 this week. Last time they didn't ring up as B1G1, but about 10 minutes ago they did! Used 2 $5 coupons, and plan on sending in that rebate also.
Thanks and repped. I had gone ahead to check it out, and when I saw that the RX Essentials were marked B1G1, I bought them using the two $5 coupons. I plan to do it again tomorrow to get some for my mom and send in the rebate at her address.

I don't understand the L'oreal part of your deal. It doesn't add up. 16 bottles with BOGO is still 39.92. You don't seem to have enough coupons. Is there a manuf coupon I don't know about?

I think he used 9 b1g1 L'Oreal coupons (that expired on Sunday). Add this to the b1g1 sales at cvs, so he gets them free (except taxes on the values of the coupons).

This is in the wiki of the deals thread. The big shave gel is working, the little is not. The 4 pk of regular blades are not working, the 4 pk of POWER blades are working. The 8 pk of blades is working. That's what I recall from reading the latest posts, HTH!

Can someone please re explain how to make the photo books?

The Kodak kiosk should have an option for the photo book. Choose this and select a size. Then it takes you through a few screens where you can choose a background and then start adding pictures. You can add pictures from various media types the same way you do when you print pictures out (from CD, thumb drive, media cards etc). Also, you can add pictures from more than one source, like multiple SD cards, by hitting “Done” (or similar). Then you’ll be asked if you want to choose another media source.

Once you’ve added all your pictures you’ll be asked to choose a photo for the cover. You can add text or edit/crop photos. After you are all done the pages of the photo book print out and you take them to the photo technician. They should be able to put your book together in a couple minutes. All they do it staple the pages together then place them in a black cover that already has adhesive in place…and viola the book is bound and ready.

It’s really easy but not all of the employees know how to do it so you should ask and make sure someone who can put it together is available. When I made mine I didn’t think to ask beforehand so once my pages were printed no one knew how to put it together or even how to ring it up. They called another store and luckily the one employee who knew how to do it was there. It was a pain but I do like the photo book. :)

well went to my fav cvs, and when i was going in the aisle, i heard "dont take cpns from them" and im telling the ppl who i went with tht, she (shift manager) said that to the cashiers. then we're like ok whatever, we're just gonna use the ecbs and leave. so i was looking around and she was passing by, and shes like i got a call this morning, no more internet printed cpns are allowed, and you cannot get any more rainchecks for the "stuff" in the back. i got rainchecks for the monitors. im like the diabetes monitors? and shes like yes. im like okayyyy.. then she left. i dunno wht shes thinking of me. but wht about tht fact that cvs sends u cpns in email. ok, well not the 5/15 from the newspaper or the 3/15, but the halls one, the battery one, wht about those???????????

so should i call corp? and if yes, then wht should i say? im sure theyre gonna ask me for my card number. and they'd c tht i stack. so i dunno. any pointers??????? i think she thinks tht i use cpns to buy the monitors, then send in rebates(or most likely RETURN them at another store, and buy them again from this store), thts just plain BS.

I say YES, you should call corporate. They will probably want the store number and do you know the manager's name?

Tell them exactly what you said here, accept that your print out the $5/$15 etc....:lmao:

I don't think it matters that you stack. One for the reason of if they didn't really want you too, they wouldn't accept them but I have seen many posts from experienced CVSers that have to call and complain to corporate. If there was a risk of any reprimand to what is on your card, I don't think they would call either.

MamaCentral, I did a mock order for the book online and you can pick it up in store but it says for my zipcode it take 2-3 weeks until it's available to pick up. I don't know whether it's just my area but if you need it for xmas and to get the current ecb deal, you might have to do it instore. I've ordered prints online before and it was available to pick-up in an hour so it might just be that they don't have techs that know how make the books in my area. HTH :)

I was thinking about this the other day - because I had to call them when I didn't receive my $6 Fusion ECB. She certainly would have seen that I paid very little OOP - but, I was also thinking that she really wouldn't know if any stacking was done. The $/$$ coupons show up as "CVS coupons" and the ECBs show up as CVS coupons. So, while we wish that they would show up as ECB on the receipt so that when we DO need to return something, the cashier would know we had "paid" more than $1 for the entire order and are entitled to a legitimate refund...on the other hand, it seems like a good thing that they are showing up as coupons and the $/$$ coupons just blend in with them. As far as she knows, you paid for the whole thing in ECBs!

(Then again, their printout on the computer screen could be way more complicated than what we're seeing on our register receipts...)

well went to my fav cvs, and when i was going in the aisle, i heard "dont take cpns from them" and im telling the ppl who i went with tht, she (shift manager) said that to the cashiers. then we're like ok whatever, we're just gonna use the ecbs and leave. so i was looking around and she was passing by, and shes like i got a call this morning, no more internet printed cpns are allowed, and you cannot get any more rainchecks for the "stuff" in the back. i got rainchecks for the monitors. im like the diabetes monitors? and shes like yes. im like okayyyy.. then she left. i dunno wht shes thinking of me. but wht about tht fact that cvs sends u cpns in email. ok, well not the 5/15 from the newspaper or the 3/15, but the halls one, the battery one, wht about those???????????

so should i call corp? and if yes, then wht should i say? im sure theyre gonna ask me for my card number. and they'd c tht i stack. so i dunno. any pointers??????? i think she thinks tht i use cpns to buy the monitors, then send in rebates(or most likely RETURN them at another store, and buy them again from this store), thts just plain BS.

I say ABSOLUTELY call CS if its gotten under your skin about the SS tude. There've been times I get a lil ticked and I'll let it go and then there are other things that ll tick you off there can't be enough repelent to get rid of that sting.... Basically you'll know whats the best course of action. I only say to call only when its bad bad..... In regards to not accepting Internet coupons from you that is totally wrong unless your finding ways to make multiples of coupons that have unique codes on them keep on printing.DONT make multiples with unique codes

In regards to what to when you scan CRT s into the machines/register, Yes in the back it says what your scanning into the machine if they decide to pull up the transaction. An example is one store was advising the customers to use a coupon that was not supposed to and the Manager pulled up all the trasnactions and knew which CRT was scanned into the registers on top of all the CRT that was in the drawer.

Can we make the book online and pick it up in store??? The price online is $16.99, I am assuming if we can then with the card it will scan $12.99?

the book you make on line is not the same as the one in the store. You have many more choices of background, layout, etc in the store.

Hi everyone. Last night I went to CVS and bought 4 cases of Pepsi and 1 Diet Pepsi Max. Each case rang up $4.89 and then my receipt shows "Sale Savings BUY 0, SAVE $.00" and deducts $17.45. Which makes the total only $7 instead of $11. Has this happened to anyone else? but :)

I'm thinking about stocking up now...

Important to note - be sure to go to the BIG kiosk - the one that is like an ATM machine that has a printer on it. There, your photobook will print out in minutes. If you do this on one of the smaller machines, you have to wait an hour or two for them to print it on the machine in the photo lab.

With regards to the 'online' vs 'in store' question - I might add that it does NOT take that long 'in store' - I would give yourself 45minutes to an hour the first time, and less than that once you've done it a time or two.

These are very easy to make, and look very nice. I think I may even make more, they are WELL worth the $12.99, and even better with coupons, CRTs and ECBs.

Totally agree!! Also, if you want the pictures in a certain order be sure to give yourself a bit of time to arrange them in store.

For example, I am making several photo books of my 2 yr old from birth to now for family. The first time I made it for hubby's family the pictures were mixed up on my USB stick so I sat there for a while moving all the present pictures to the back of the book and all the newborn pics to the front of the book. Then I went back to make a book for my family, and figured I would arrange the pictures at home on the USB stick. The Kodak program still shuffled my pictures when I went to make the book in store. It wasn't as bad as the first time, but still took a bit of time.

I second this. Make SURE someone there knows how to put this together. I sat for TWO HOURS in the store, while the shift supervisor and manager tried to put my two books together. The Kodak kiosk also showed the pictures all looking fine on the screen - but then when it printed, about 5 of them had heads cut off the pictures. It was majorly frustrating.

I went back and dropped my photos off again today with the photo assistant manager, and she assured me she would get it done for me - and she's done a lot of them before, she said. :) We'll see!

OK Im a newbie to these CVS deals so Im looking for some help on how to improve. Here is what I spent today:

CVS Adhesion Tape 2.49 (needed)
CVS Non-adhesion bandages 3.49 (needed)
JJ Baby Shampoo 1.99
Listerine 2.99
Tylenol caplets 4.99
--------------------------------
15.95

$5 off $15
$2 off $10
$2 off JJ Baby shampoo
$1 off tylenol
$1 off listerine

OOP 4.95

I realized I also could have used a $3 off $15 - what else could I have done??
Batteries are $7.99 at my CVS so I couldnt do that deal. Im perfectly happy paying what I did because I needed $6 worth of dressings anyway, but just trying to learn how to pay even less!! You guys are awesome!

Also, I used the self checkout which was fantastic! As long as the computer will take something, it goes through. No need to deal with peoples policy. The only issue is on coupons that need manual changes (like $2 off witha $1.99 product that needs to be fixed) but you can even enter your own coupon codes if they dont scan.

Did you check your ad or just rely on the signs in the store? The Energizer battery sale is on page 14 of my circular. My stores, however, do not all have signs up for the sale. (8pk AA or AAA, 4pk C or D...)

There was a big sign up with a display of the energizer batteries clearly labeled. In the circular, it was the duracell batteries for the cheap price. I wonder if its only a NYC thing?

Ok. I had no idea you were trying to shop in NY. Frequently they just don't get the whole circular like the rest of us. When we're talking about a deal on this site that you can't find at that store, just try your store at home.

Did you NEED the tylenol? With CVS deals, you'll learn to buy when it's on sale, coupons are right or you're getting ecbs, and then you just hold onto those things for when you do need them. If it wasn't a NEED item, I would have waited. Or bought the $2.49 vial that is giving a $2.49 ecb this week.

For the listerine, there was also a 50 cent coupon on the 'diabetes' book CVS had out on their shelves awhile back. Tip - always look around the pharmacy for handouts they have displayed. Often times, their flyers have coupons that end up helping with the deals.

There are also printable J&J coupons for first aid kits here http://slickdeals.net/?sduid=190374&t=628074&u2=http://www.jnjfirstaid.com/coupons.jsp that you can pair with the $1 J&J coupon that came from the CVS diabetes book as well. Maybe the stuff in those kits would have worked for what you need.

Of course, if you work in Manhattan, proceed cautiously, as I understand the stores there don't always offer the ecb deals that other stores do.

Welcome!

I didnt need the tylenol, but mine is expired. My husband has a sinus infection so I wanted to make sure if he needed it he has it. I didnt see a vial that cost $2.49 there. The smallest size was $4.99. Is it a sample size? If I return it, would I get the $5 back, $4 back or would it void my $5/15 also?

I will definitely start looking around the store. What is the CVS diabetes book?

Im going to scout my local CVS tonight for batteries and see what else I can get. I'm aiming for really low OOP (less than $1!).

Thank you for your help!

Means 2 for $2.50 (or 3 for $5, but 2 for $2.50 is obviously the better deal unless you need 3).

Yes - it is a lot more complicated. The asst manager showed it to me one time - far more information on their screen - it has 4 or 5 separate boxes to show the receipt details.

I dont know whether the coupons and ECBs would be differentiated on their screen. I do know what you saw on your receipt is less than 1/4 of the whole picture.
