Alright podium members...
I have more questions to pose to the group...
Can everybody learn?

Yes. It just takes some longer than others.

Do you mean learn from a book (knowledge), learn from mistakes/experience, learn from others (wisdom), learn common sense?

Can everybody learn?
You gotta beware of phrasing questions like this with absolute terms like "everybody". "Everybody" implies that there is not a single person of the ~6 billion humans alive today that fits that criteria. Add in dead people, and people yet to be born, and that 6 billion number skyrockets. Surely, in a large enough sample size, an exception can be found.
This is why I never speak using absolutes. ;)
A freind of mine was helping me move a queen sized bed this weekend. I strapped it to the roof of his SUV. I'm an engineer, he's a lawyer. He was freaking out at the concept of strapping a bed to his roof. He said it'll fly off and hurt somebody. I said it'll be fine.
After I was done strapping it down, he said, "Okay, Chief, are we good to go?"
I said, "Yeah, it should be okay."
He stopped me and said, "I don't want to hear 'it should be okay'! Tell me the friggin thing is bulletproof and everything's going to be perfect."
I told him to STFU and drive his plastic toy car Saturn SUV POS. It's an imperfect world, and there's no guarantees.
(We made the 30-minute highway trip just fine.)

Thats the difference...all can learn but not all can be taught! Some must learn from life experiences only (trial and error, etc)...

Any sense is fine... I really wanted to leave that up to the reader
But i will react to these and others that can be presented.
I do not believe everyone can learn from a book.
I don't believe everyone can learn from mistakes. Otherwise we'd never hear that old saw "won't he ever learn".
Learn from others... no, not everybody can do that either.
And i don't believe that common sense can be learned at all. I think common sense is a word that implies some sort of inherent status. Some sort of natural status. And I have certainly known people w/o common sense.

I find value in Howard Gardner's "Seven Types of Intelligence (http://www.swopnet.com/ed/TAG/7_Intelligences.html)."
"Psychologist Howard Gardner identified the following distinct types of intelligence.
They are listed here with respect to gifted / talented children.
1. Linguistic
Children with this kind of intelligence enjoy writing, reading, telling stories or doing crossword puzzles.
2. Logical-Mathematical
Children with lots of logical intelligence are interested in patterns, categories and relationships. They are drawn to arithmetic problems, strategy games and experiments.
3. Bodily-Kinesthetic
These kids process knowledge through bodily sensations. They are often athletic, dancers or good at crafts such as sewing or woodworking.
4. Spatial
These children think in images and pictures. They may be fascinated with mazes or jigsaw puzzles, or spend free time drawing, building with Leggos or daydreaming.
5. Musical
Musical children are always singing or drumming to themselves. They are usually quite aware of sounds others may miss. These kids are often discriminating listeners.
6. Interpersonal
Children who are leaders among their peers, who are good at communicating and who seem to understand others' feelings and motives possess interpersonal intelligence.
7. Intrapersonal
These children may be shy. They are very aware of their own feelings and are self-motivated."
everybody has to learn to survive, how to eat and such, even if they can't feed themselves they have to learn how to atleast open their mouths at the right time. I really doubt anyone has not learned something in their life

Everybody has the inherent ability to learn. Some of us learn how not to learn or ignore the lessons we are taught........
