Welcome, my fellow SoCal'er :) Please post SoCal specific deals, sale prices, SCO locations, store discussion, or general chic-chat here. Maybe one of these days we will start a club and meet for teas  Please continue to post deals that apply to the CVS general community in the main threads.

p.s. To all CVS'er from other areas - there's no disrespect. I love ya'll  Just that being in one of the few highest priced area, SoCal seems to have sales/ prices different from other markets so it might be helpful for us to share local information in a separate thread. You are more than welcome to chime in any time.

Hello Fellow So cali cvs 'er.....

Ok I just saw a post about coupons/gc and firing to bring the highlights of the post....

Yes as a matter of fact employee(s) have been "let go" over coupon usage. I will nto go into specifics to this but in a nice tactful way it has been noted on this but excessive should not be a part of being let go from a company. I will advise (share my info) to a cashier that if they don't want to I can go right down the block and shop @ albertsons, Ralphs, or any other drug store that has the same products .... A store that doesnt want to accept as many coupons as you have is potentially losing the business from you as they will never know if you have a need for a specific product on the spur of the moment and buy it at an outrageous inflated price and thats what they prey on is that.

The cashier probably lied or did not understand the meeting. I posted a story a bit ago about a coupon issue, I'll share it again since it could be related and happened in socal.
bf and I went to a 24 hour cvs late at night on s. atlantic in monterey park and ended up leaving all our stuff at the checkout because we were told we couldn't use more than one ECB (the manager halted the transaction just before we could hand over the .52 for it). We were told that we weren't supposed to use more than one cvs coupon (of any type) per transaction. They gave us a bunch of bs about how they all signed a form promising not to take more than one cvs coupon and that this was because 2 women were buying stuff for the ECBs and returning them about half an hour after buying them.
Anyway, bf called corporate when they opened a few hours later (I was lazy and needed to sleep), he got a $5 ECB and got a call from the DM very quickly. Turns out the form they signed said that they would not use more than one ECB for their own transactions, so this had nothing to do with customers. So they were either paranoid about their policies, they lied to us, or they sign things without reading them. Bottom line is that many cvs managers and employees don't know what they're supposed to do, so hopefully everyone who has problems at the hollywood way store will complain so that the management will be taught their own policies. I doubt anyone was fired over taking coupons unless there was some serious fraud going on. We always seem to get backed up by corporate, so I'd imagine that what we do would never get anyone in trouble.
sorry for the long post, hopefully it's a little useful

Thanks for starting this thread! it's a great idea

I am finally seeing someone that shops at san gabriel valley!!! Have you been able to find any SCO here? I work in Burbank so there's enough SCO options for me during the week but it'd be nice to have one near home for the weekend runs :)

There was one store, Garfield & some street, she was trying to enforce the one coupon rule as well but that was a couple months back. Thank you for everyone's reply. I will wait and see how everyone else does before I jump to major conclusions.

I think I'm just having a bad slickdeal day. Went back to Walgreens to purchase clearanced ziplock containers the manager says, one coupon per transaction. I know the whole argument.. but I just responded with "Fine I'll go put this into my car. Come back for my 2nd and 3rd transaction." He chuckled at me and said fine.

Back to CVS. If anyone has the B1G1 for Snickers, they are 2.29 at the San Fernando store and $1.99 at Van Nuys & Hollywood Way.

sorry, I'm afraid I can't help. I haven't seen any around here. I still haven't been able to try SCO. I'm nervous about trying to use my "online" 10 off 50, although I probably shouldn't be since there are a good number of nice cashiers and cashiers who scan without looking around here. I make the rounds at a bunch of different stores, so I can give reviews of several of them if that helps. I wish I could find a nearby SCO, too.

That monterey park store is the only one I really have problems with (hopefully they are better behaved after the complaint, but I still don't want to deal with them). The only reason I go there is if there's something I can't find anywhere else and it's the only one I've seen with burt's bees clearance.

I'm happy to know that there's someone else over here. :)

i'm in the sgv.....and none of the stores take more than one ecb per purchase.. i just quit arguing with them already. i've been shopping at CVS here since they first opened CVS in CA. i always used to go the CVS in alhambra on main st....
where is everyone else located.... ?

i haven't found the burt's bees either... maybe socal is excluded?? as always.

Every CVS I went to in SGV (temple city, alhambra, arcadia) had no issues taking more than one ECB. Maybe you should check out these stores.

I don't know if it's really that great, I just kept thinking it was cute and so I'm very happy when I can use it for 25 cent filler. The stuff I got smells really nice- I have some little soaps (like I need more soap) and this little tin of stuff to put on bruises. I do get a lot of bruises so maybe it will be useful, although I sorta doubt it does anything other than smell nice. They have a lot of little shampoos, conditioners, and lotions too.

sorry about it being a bad-deal day, plainjane. Corporate CVS seems to understand the value of being good about coupons, so it's just a matter of time before some of those individual problem stores get straightened out.
I have never been to a cvs on garfield, I looked it up and I guess it could be a little south of my normal route. I suppose if it's a problem one then I won't be heading out of my way for it anyway. Thanks for the warning.

The best you'll get on berts bees items is I think 50% for the what seems like trial size 1.25 items. I'm In OC (North) --- Close enough to LA county to go to whereever has the cheapest hehe

the one in temple city, next to kmart... i always get this old lady, who last time told me... " i don't know why all these people think they can use more than one ecb." i just make it easy on myself and don't do it.... i don't do too many of the deals anyway unless they are moneymakers or a good deal like the coke... i have way tooooo much stuff that is useless to me and have no where to put it.....
i usually hit temple city and el monte... the girls there know me already.

the atlantic store is too far for me.... i didn't like it too much when i went there the first time... in mp, i go to the one on garfield....

The one on main is one of my favorite stores. Sorry it hasn't been working out for you. The pretty girl at the photo counter is one of the bast cashiers I've seen. I went there a few times during the beeping problem and she would automatically add up all the ECBs I wanted to use and put them in at once. The last time I was there was late at night and the night manager asked me if I got my physicians formula peelies off the products I was buying. It was 2 AM so I wasn't expecting questions but I did say no. He seemed grumpy but he didn't care and put through every coupon and ECB I wanted to use.

I go to the one on fremont a lot, most of the cashiers don't look at the coupons and the one time I got a manager he complimented me multiple times on my great deals.

like joyce said, I got .25 burt's bees stuff in monterey park on s. atlantic, it was last week so it's possible it isn't there anymore, but there were a lot of things at the time.

Oh ok so since mostof you are in LA county I'll let you know the one location I went to that took me 30 minutes from me is La Puente Location and let me say if you ever get the Female Shift lead at night what a damn nightmare she was. Took my ecbs from me, claimed all people who use coupons are criminals (was talking to the security) about this. I got it as far down as possible did my orders and walked out.... I've never had such a bad experience in all my shopping experiences ever. And the customers run about after getting a few dollar ecb thinking its a lot. THey treated me so badly there and the prices are not so hot.

I am terrible with names, so I'm afraid I don't remember. I do agree that the stock is pretty poor, lately I've only been going there when I have a lot of alternatives in mind to make up with whatever is oos. I end up there mostly because I can't stand my local post office so I go to the alhambra one (bf sells a lot on ebay so I am there several times a week - nothing from cvs) and it's so close to my bank and ralph's.

I've been to the temple city and el monte, I haven't had any real hassles, but I don't got out there often. The atlantic one is annoying, it's close to me and I try to avoid it.

That's my home store :) I normally go at night or weekends and haven't had any issues. I did have to spend a long time when I tried to get the price adjustment on the Garnier stuff on Sunday - they kept trying to do a full refund and the system wouldn't go through due to my low oop. I wish they would just listen to me and do a simple exchange/ price adjustment :shake: :shake:

Ok Well I did call the next day as I've never been so steamed (gosh if I had that avatar for the one with flames now) I had a deal I was putting thru and had used multiple ecbs on the deal and manu Qs andit was prior to the whole money money offs and I was straight as an arrow on this deal ... COuld'nt have been nothing wrong, if I recall there was I think ONE MONEY OFF as I didnt know how they were to be perceived. So since I didnt have enough ecb's for the deal I made her void the transaction and poof all the ecb's came out of the register and this is I'm saying 6 of them I think.... THe shift lead said she needed all the ecb's to put in the register and I said NO They're mine and I wanted to look at it. Note as she was handing the ecb's over to me like I was trying to take something she wrote VOID ------- all over them so they were not to be used. Also this store will scribble over manu and cvs coupons so no one else can use them but like I need that I got more in my coupon holder. Just rediculous crap is my thought. I wrote down this females name and all the ecbs I was to get and called corp and got the ecb's back in a lump ecb but I was so P'Oed at this female and if I would've gone off on her it would've been bad but I shut up on that and walked out. As someone said when your upset your mind is not clear and I sure would've regretted what I would ve said later so walking away was the best avenue. I called it in is bottom line but I did get a call from the DM. That is one bad experience in LA county that I never would wish on anyone it was that bad.....

I pretty much have a one track mind when I'm shopping, so I've never noticed any potential slick dealers either. I do bring my binder into ralph's - it seems excessive since I only buy for two people and two cats, but I don't want to miss out on any good deals or run back to the car if I think I have a coupon for something.

crystal, I'm glad you complained about that horrible experience. It amazes me how many cashiers don't understand how coupons work.

Miranda, I' m totally feeling ya on the bringing in all the coupons thing as I do the same thing but ever since I've been cvsing I've not been frequenting Ralphs Much. If that La Puente store was the last cvs I'd switch back to Ralphs before I go there. The good deals that are always at Ralphs that I got were 9 cent dental wax, 50 cent trial size bananna boat sunscreen, free benedryl (trial size), free dayquil (like I need anymore), used to be free degreee deodorant (this deodorant makes me break out badly so I give it to family), 29 cent yoghurt (it was a tan multipack from dannon) free dannon yoghurt (when on sale it was a green package) free orbit white gum, hot pockets calzone 50 cents, Krusteez pancakes (on sale 50 cents), Hungry man Dinner (1.77 sale down to 27 cents w/ Q)

I do most of the grocery shopping at Ralph's, I like to think I do fairly well on some of it, I scored a bunch of free cat treats last week and I get a lot of clearance yogurt with coupons (we still manage to eat it all before it goes bad).

The bf stopped in at the hollywood way store on the way back from work. He didn't have a great experience, but it was better than plainjane's. He said he tried SCO but he had to get a manager override for the 10 off 50. Is that the way they all are? If so, then I guess I'm better off dealing with cashiers. He gave up on it and went to a cashier, he got hassled a bit about the coupons but they took them all.

Hmmm. I have never had a problem using off coupons specially the 10 off 50 at any SCO. Maybe they did tighten ship. If so.. bah no reason to go to hollywood way. I went there last night and noticed that the machine was out of commission, it was all opened. Maybe they were re-programming it. Just when we had the SCO somewhat figured out.

He said he tried SCO but he had to get a manager override for the 10 off 50. Is that the way they all are? If so, then I guess I'm better off dealing with cashiers. He gave up on it and went to a cashier, he got hassled a bit about the coupons but they took them all.

I haven't done it this week yet, but last week at the same store i was able to stack the 10/50 and 5/30, both by entering the codes myself (keypad). I will check them out next week and report back.

Hi everyone! I live in Monterey Park and know all about the CVS on S. Atlantic, too! Ugh, don't like that store at all, but it's just so close to me, so I just suck it up and go there. I also go to the one downtown at the L.A. mall during lunch. Nice to see fellow SDers nearby!

Hello :)
Have you been there lately? I've been wondering if they have become any better behaved since our complaint. If they give you too much trouble you should call corporate too, an extra $5 ECB and an apology from the DM can ease the pain of dealing with them.
I've been to the downtown mall one too, only once though. At least it was pretty well-stocked, but it's not part of my usual area.

I hope they aren't changing the SCOs to be picky about the dollar off coupons, otherwise I don't know if I'll ever get the nerve to try to online one. I thought about trying it tonight at the fremont store but the cashier was new and a bit confused. He was nice and I didn't want to push my luck and turn a new one against coupons. I did alright anyway and used the regular 10 off 50, so it wasn't a big deal.

Maybelline items are under $2 and theres a ton of it out there. I just snagged me some items and oh so stella trip. There was a Maybelline tearpad Q for $2 and $1 when the deals were giong thru with Maybelline and they are so useful now knocking things down to under a dollar. Eye liners, shadow, concealer some blue stuff...lipstick as well in a pink/purple container.

I also found lots of makeup clearance... nothing i really needed. the maybelline nail polishes were 75% free AC... they also had foundation and eyeshadows... i really didn't see too much revlon..

i did see some sally hansen on clearance for 50%.
what has your experience been with clearance and ecbs since they changed to instant ecbs... anyone have luck getting ecbs with clearance items?

This doesn't answer the question fully, but I was able to use 2 4/20 email coupons at the Van Nuys location. I don't know if I'll have the nerve to try this at the Hollywood location. They're going to be like... "YOU again."

3 Q is $3 coupon. Its a bit shorter to write that ... I'm sorry to hear you don't shop cvs more often, theres some money makers sometimes and some things you just pick up either you need it or will need it but picking up a bunch during a sale/ecb is best.

Another Store no one should visit is CVS Norwalk on Alondra Blvd & Studebaker Road. The Assistant Manager of Latino Descent around the age of 42-50 will make it difficult for you or anyone to use any coupons or ECBs. She some how does something to cause rejection coupons. She will say, product and coupon does not match even it obvious it matches. Since you are holding the line, she will tell people waiting in line, it the coupon user holding everyone up, blame the person using. Sometimes and depending on who she can bully, her comment can be very nasty. She will make it a hassle for you to use coupons. She even told a Mexican couple in Spanish, using coupons make Latinos look bad to non-Latinos.

Hi evry1. I'm in South Bay and I try to avoid the store closest to me on Western because they would not take more than 1 ECB if you use another CVS coup (and because I yelled and made a fit), they have gotten better at accepting more than 1 ECB/ trans. One time the stupid mgr. Juanito made me do 5 diff trans. That just makes no sense for me to hold up the line (It was 2am but there coulda been) when they could do it once and have me out. It just depends on who the cashier is. I have complained so many times about that store via email and letters, CVS no longer responds to me. However, the first time they gave me a $3 GC. Also, the store on Anza/ PCH sucks if there is a mid 40s Caucasian male there. I think he is ass't mgr. He is a cpn Nazi and said "The purpose of ECBs is not so you can get items for free. How are we supposed to make money if we let you use as many cpns as you want? I will take more than 1 this time but we are not supposed to." So if he was not supposed to, why was he willing to put his job on the line for my cpns? That liar. There was no reasoning with this fool. I should have brought my letter from corp. Some cashier stole it from me but I have a scanned backup copy. I also have to remember to use my CRTs no later than 24hrs from exp. or they will beep and have to force it. Each cashier at every store has something diff to say about the # of ECBs you can use. CSR says sometimes that GM has authority on that. Ever since they stopped putting the word "coupons" on the ECBs, I have not had any problems for the most part lately. The only problem is the line. They are gawd awfully long and there are 2 cashiers. The worst one always is on 190th. Twenty people and 2 cashiers at 10pm.

Also, I suggest you call the EC line to have them check thru your acct to see if there are unused ECBs (before they started printing automatically) because mine showed over $100 worth.

That's what the guy (at Hollywood way) told me! The exact same quote. He added to it by saying " We want to give you deals and discount but not the point where you're getting it for practically free." I think CVS should explain to us how these extra bucks are calculated into their books. He also told me that all my coupons were of no value to the store.

Just a heads up all the clorox is gone at the San Fernando store. i purchased the last Ultra2 monitor at the San Fernando store in Glendale not Burbank. There were 2-3 left in Burbank.

Unknown if its going to get to the LA county stores but in OC the covergirl lipstick/lipgloss is on clearance for like 1.65.(the same one from last wks deal for covergirl items that I was paying 2.99) Using eithe rthe $2.50/2 or $1 man Q PLUS the free blush coupon it s definitely work looking into.
1.65x6 ==> 9.90
7.60 x 2===> 15.20
You can either use the 5/20 or some other and you ll get it all down to about a dollar something cuz the 7.6 # is the blush (most expensive found next to the minerals stuff) and this will cancel out bc its the free coupon. (would've preferred the minerals stuff but I followed the rules and got the BLUSH stuff)

Is that the one off Alicia and Muirlands? The smallish store by the corner of the street? That store is filled with wonderful people including one of the nicest store managers ever. I don't shop there that much but if you want a great experience, you would love it there. Even the shift supervisors are great -- just be warned that they don't have a lot of stuff but for the most part, they try to have enough stock for the items that are on sale for the week. Oh yeah, when they mark down stuff for clearance, they really mark it down. I think they just go straight to 90% off! Then again, I go there maybe once every two weeks or so so it could just be a coincidence that when I go there, it is time for the 90% off markdown. :)

No Coupon Hassles
No CVS ECB Coupons
No Grumpy Employees
No lame or Stupid Employees
No made up Store Policies by store Management
Other: anything other issues

Go to CVS in more affluent areas. E.G. Newport Beach-never has hassle with coupons.
Dunno, CVS employees seem to be more pleasant and less hassle in more affluent markets. Also, CVS employees seem to be more grumpy and more restrictive in areas with higher demographics of Latinos and African Americans even from their own people.
CVS employees seem to respect people that dress more affluent or even look more affluent or come in business attire or traditional sunday church clothes.

Lastly, try to act pleasant and cheerful. Call the CVS employee by name. How your day?

Not exactly true...

The CVS in the Westcliff Shopping Center on Irvine Avenue in Newport Beach loves to scrutinize EVERY coupon. They have to read all parts of the coupon before they even try scanning it.

Also, I've found that every store nearby me is hit or miss now. Up until last week, I would have said the one on Adams Avenue in Huntington (at Brookhurst) was great, but I had a nightmare experience Saturday. Ugh. I used to have troubles at the one on Newport Blvd in Costa Mesa, and last week I did three transactions and everything was as smooth as butter.

I think in general, the younger cashiers are not as strict and pretty much leave everyting up to the register to decide. The older ones, on the other hand, are trained to exam each coupon before taking it. Probably old habbit from the old days before bar codes are invented

Actually, I shop in that location too. I never had a problem except the Banana Boat $10.00 ECBs which supervisor gave me $10.00 gift card. It was cause by computer error since I was not the only person having the same problem. Best person to visit is the lower 40's Chinese Asian Lady. From coworkers, the one to avoid is the older African American lady, she a bit opinionated and scrutinzes coupons. One thing great about the locations is they seem to restock items faster than other locations. Due the affluent area, they may get extra shipments. The younger works are best to approach.

I agree about younger employees being better about coupons. You'd think that more of the older ones would recognize the value of coupons, I guess it may just be that they don't trust the register to let them know if they shouldn't take one.

I've had two good experiences in a row at the rosemead store (east garvey). The cashiers each time were good about taking my coupons and the one today was especially polite. I pretty much broke even with my stuff. They were out of the monitors, but they had a good amount of kashi cereal. I got the GUM travel toothbrush, it wasn't with the other toothbrushes (which were pretty much wiped out). It was in a section further to the right and near the bottom, in case anyone else wanted one. Also, if you need the $1/2 sally hansen brochure, they have a good amount left near the front of the store on the side of an end cap display.

Older or younger its all a hit or miss on how they'll react to the coupons. You can pretty much get a feel for a person if you talk to them for a few minutes. I once had a situation where it was an older female probably in her 40s or 50s and I had 2 transactions to complete at this location since I didnt want to waste gas to go to the store again. Initially she said I could only use one coupon for the stuff and blah blah blah.... So then the cashier I just finished checking out with said just have your friend complete another transaction for you. I was thinking yea yea... So it just so happened that I ended up with the shift lead that just told me to only 1 coupon blah blah...It was a free after coupon deal. She was like well then lets see if it goes thru and I was like ok lets see....Note I knew it'd go thru but I guess to make her feel better I said to try it. Hence that 2nd transaction had over 5 or 10 of the same coupon and that was another free after coupon deal. I said to the shift lead "so how come you don't smile?" I guess shift lead was so shall I say Numbed out of the others using coupons she just appeared to be robotic. Made small convo with shift lead and had better experience there. I guess you can say sometimes I have a comic attitude approach to those who seem glum, sometimes it bites and sometimes its good. Afterwards I gave one of the freebie items as gosh I've got enough of this item that I wanted to share it. I guess the old saying of what goes around comes around.

Another was an older male whereas I had I think about 30-40 coupons to scan thru and he was not exactly estatic my total came to 1 dollar and change, not an ecb deal but clearanced items with coupons. Stocking up to use throughout the year till the next time clearance goes around again.

On another note I had a younger cashier than stated above and was just adement about coupons and gave me lip but I knew better on that so its a YMMV (hit or miss) on age and gender and all the other stuff. Just feel your instincts on the person when you talk to them. Sorry lil too much but you all talk about age and gender like it will make a difference.

I love this thread btw. I usually don't shop out of my 20 mile range but when I do, I know which stores to avoid without reading thru about deals in NJ or Kansas. SoCal is large enough to deserve this thread. Yay!

Well maybe he changed locations. Good for me bad for you. I def would have corp.'ed that. The whole point of shopping at CVS is for the ECBs that the corp hyped up lately. If they had no ECBs, my shopping trips would be a whole lot easier to not include that store at all.

I am sure CVS gets a deal from the manu. themselves for hyping up their products. How else could they have given Softsoap bodywash away at 5 per card (and I am sure many times that per HH)? Colgate-Palmolive gives them X amount/ discount/ free products for the free advertising and CVS gets customers in the door and hoping that you will spend $100s more than the value of the cpn.

Unknown if its going to get to the LA county stores but in OC the covergirl lipstick/lipgloss is on clearance for like 1.65. stuff)

It is here in LA cnty also.

This is untrue. The man that said that rude comment to me WAS in a very affluent area on Anza/ PCH right below Rolling Hills where there are million dollar homes on hills (similar to Hollywood Hills). Stores with demographics like that are frequented most by non-couponing rich folks who spend $18 on cartridges without batting an eye. They don't get many mass couponers like me and you. So now I avoid that store also, even tho I bring my letter. I hate whipping it out and causing needless attn to myself. I want to be memorable but not to the coupon Nazi CVS employees.

There is a store on 190th in Torrance, which is semi-affluent, that is friendly, except for one fat Caucasian girl there. She scrutinized my cpns as if they were counterfeit and read and reread it. She was in her mid 20s. I just deducted that she was probably reprimanded previously for a cpn she should not have accepted because behaviors like that are overboard.

Conversely, when I shop in ghetto areas like on Rosecrans in Lawndale, they don't give a flying care about the # of cpns I use because they see people use it all the time.

OR
go to CVS stores that were never Savons... the employees are better trained when it comes to coupons.

I do agree with you on this fact. The one on Western/ Red. Bch. Blvd., who have given me countless problems were Savons. The CVS in Carson on Main who were always CVS knows and used to say to all the customers, "Here are your $x.xx cpns. You can use as many as you want." And they would encourage you to go shopping again immediately to use them. Now that's service. Too bad they are a small store and their product selections are not that great. There is another store in Carson on E. Carson that is 24 hrs and also has the same attitude over cpns and has an excellent assortment of products. I haven't gone there lately in 2 months so I could be wrong. The lines are super long at the 24hr Carson so beware.

I think in general, the younger cashiers are not as strict and pretty much leave everyting up to the register to decide. The older ones, on the other hand, are trained to exam each coupon before taking it. Probably old habbit from the old days before bar codes are invented

True. I knew of a cute 18yr old cashier at Walgreens who I made my purchases from and hated the "stupid employees there" with a passion. I never tried to exploit cpns with him but I'm sure if I did, he wouldn't have cared. Too bad for me he went to the military and won't be working there soon.

Okay folks, I think I am going through CVS withdrawl - I've all coupons to get 32 soyjoy bars and covergirl lipgloss/ blush for practically free or make $6 after getting the 10/40 ECB but I am too lazy to drag my butt over there :shake: :shake: :shake:

I feel the same way, which is why I am trolling SD CVS boards instead of the stores. I just dread driving out and preparing for the inevitable cpn beeps and cpn Nazis. The only thing that would make me madder is the fact that the 15 stores around here will run out of the good deals, which is why I am now going to clip my Qs and shove my butt out the door.

Older or younger its all a hit or miss on how they'll react to the coupons. You can pretty much get a feel for a person if you talk to them for a few minutes. I guess the old saying of what goes around comes around.

I think when we say younger cashier is better, we all can only speak from our own experiences thus far, until we have an encounter that makes us change the way we think. I guess in your overall experience, age hasn't been a factor. The younger cashiers tend to be easily convinced, versus older people who are set in their ways of thinking until they are forced to changed by need (ie., corp.cpn rules, enviromental, etc.).

I agree that treating the cashiers well goes a long way. I have given away cpns and even told some where to go to buy cpns. I always love when I find out a cashier is also an avid couponer. I make sure to shop when that person is around to make everything easier.

Yeah, it is just a generalization, it's certainly not accurate all the time. I've had fairly good experiences with older women. The few issues I've dealt with have involved older female cashiers (only three or four) and one young male. The biggest factor is probably the supervisor's attitude toward coupons and how much he/she pushes that attitude on the employees. The only serious issues I've experienced have been at that s. atlantic store and I know the management is to blame for that.

I always try to be patient and polite no matter how the cashier acts. I don't really chat much with them since I'm a bit shy, but I always make it a point to thank them for their patience with me and my pile of coupons. Sometimes they don't respond, but most of them are nice about it.

Any of you live or work by the Seal Beach Store on Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) and Westminster/Main Street newly brand new store with Pavilions and Shorehouse Cafe(Very good food)? Here is couple very friendly employees.

1st: Paul - Very friendly and lots of ppl will always say thanks and hello even not having him process the transactions. Always friendly and personable.

2nd: MaryAnn - young college student age. Always friendly and even ask tips for saving money for using coupons for herself.

Both are friendly, no hassle and customers seem to love them both.

Vod,

That was great of you to put some names but I guess I'm a lil shy (me shy, not much realy) but I prefer to leave names out on open forums. Just my 2 cents on that...

Now if your in North OC area I'm not sure if the posters read it before but The Yorba Linda blvd location next to Ralphs is HORRIBLE on coupons. I get scrutinized, my coupons are thrown at me ( not big throw but not hand to hand pass), the cashiers (mgr, leads and all) Its just one fo the bigger locations in this area so go there once in blue moon now. Also they won't always scan your card or ask.....Let me not start bc they make me upset as much as the La Puente location on Hacienda (both 24 hr locations)--- YL is half and half (go when need to but not out of way for them at least.Oh and the Rose Imperial location is some tiny rinky dink place that is overpriced for any location I've seen ever. Even a location that has affluent or Ghetto has better prices than this place. What I don't understand is how they make it when next door there is a Stater bros who probably has a lot better prices than them.

Oh and those who mention the Santa Ana (bristol location) its ok, havent really had any issues there unlike from what Ive read about others experiences. The store asst mgr was nice even though I had him come to the SCO thing like 5 times and didnt make a squabble about it till I said I'll just finish out my orders at the register.

OR
go to CVS stores that were never Savons... the employees are better trained when it comes to coupons.
Not true. The cashiers at the Westwood & Weyburn CVS, which was opened new as a 24-hour, 2-story CVS prior to the purchase of Sav-on, are idiots. So are some of the assistant managers. I've done more to train a couple of the cashiers on coupons than their own corporate people.

On the other hand, the Santa Monica & 26th CVS has just been great. The assistant manager, the cashiers it seems will do whatever it takes to get a coupon or EB to go through with a smile.

I prefer the previous very large supermarket-sized Sav-on locations to the original CVS locations (even though Westwood & Weyburn is an odd store) since there is more merchandise available. Probably the largest former Sav-on is the CVS on Ventura in Sherman Oaks. It use to be both a Sav-on and a supermarket before Sav-on took over the supermarket and added its space to its existing store.

i also agree about the young cashiers... most of the problems i've had have been with the older cashiers.... i just try to avoid them whenever i can. During the supermarket strike, the cashiers at Ralphs and Vons/Pavilions, who were mostly young especially in my area near UCLA, seemed to accept anything. If it beeped, they would just override it.

exactly... all older cashiers at these stores will read my coupons up and down and they always check for DND... while the young ones don't. i know everyone has different experiences, but these have been mine.

You cannot buy GC, or use B1G1 coupons or any coupons that requires manager override or price modification at SCO. They will beep, and someone need to come help you. If you know something is going to beep, you might as well go through a cashier to begin with.

Unless I've done an order first with a cashier and know it works without a problem, it's useless for me to go to the SCO. I encounter problems on almost EVERY order I have at CVS.

Complaints to CVS!

I have never complaint to CVS about any issues at CVS. How effective is complaining to CVS corporate about coupon issues? Yes, you receive $5.00 ECB or something else. Sometimes some of us are not interested in $5.00 ECB apology like me, I am interested in results and education of the employees. Also, more intersted in store management taking seriously in learning and teaching proper store policies.

I work in Newport and drive on PCH pass CVS Seal Beach everyday. I have several CVS in my neighborhood and I avoid Alondra/Studebaker location. No one have to drive extra miles to go to more friendly CVS. For me, it not an inconvient but others it may be inconvient to be hassle by untrained employees or employees with attitude because some customer want to save $$$.

One day Weights and Measures for some Southern California county is going to come down hard on CVS. I've never seen a store that seems to have more "rules" made up by the cashiers or items that are mispriced.

Yesterday, the One Touch Mini was coming up at $24.99 but is advertised in the Valassis for $19.99. So the cashier says, I'll charge you $20.00 as it is easier for me to take the $20.00 coupon off. That's fine for me but it's not legal.

I see so many shelf tags that are out of date or items that scan lower or higher than the shelf price. Some locations do a very poor job of posting sale prices.

I've seen ad prices or offers (such as EB) on Saturday not be in the system while the new Sunday prices have already kicked in.

Also, the "lumping" together of the CVS card savings rather than giving a SPECIFIC price for each item on your receipt is ILLEGAL.

CVS is going to get hit with some major fines in California one day. Just watch.

At the moment, I can't complain. I watch all prices and have ads with me if I need them to prove my point. This sort of reminds me of the problems both K-Mart and Macy's have had - and been fined heavily fined for over the years - but even worse.

CalItalian - w/ the SCO and GC - can you activate a gc at a SCO? That was my main question, I know that you would obviously call attention to yourself if you had a coupon beep. I think it's an iffy situation anyway w/ the stupid coupon sensors in the coupon slot.

Something really annonying, CVS store don't have their ads available to customers. The Ads rack is empty, not ads hanging anywhere.

I go to CVS on either Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. There never any ads available. Most of the time, they never received the ads yet.

Yesterday, I brought my ad to see items on sale. I was asked by 3 other customer to take a look at the ad. There was no ads available anywhere in the store including front counter.

That's weird, I've never had that problem at any CVS's I normally frequent though... Maybe it's just that store. Most stores get next week's ad by Friday PM the week before. When I was still in AZ, that's how I got next week's ad beforehand.

It was inconvenient for me to go elsewhere other than the one by my house but I hated them for not knowing their own rules and adhering to them. Now that I think about it, the 2 or 3 employees that I kept complaining about no longer seem to work at the stores. I know I said that CVS didn't respond after the 1st complaint but looks like they did by canning them. Could be unrelated. The point is tho, if you never complain, it will keep happening. It takes 5 min. to write an email. Send it off so you should never need to go to any other CVS than the one nearest you.

Also, Employees with good service should be rewarded by calling or emailing CVS too.

Hmm.. I was able to use the 10/50 at the SCO in Sherman Oaks. Maybe it's just the Hollywood Way store. Purchased Alli today. At the Sherman Oaks location they have them locked in a room. The manager or whoever said the first day too many were dissappearing. It's a pretty big box to be stolen and not to have anyone notice? I guess if you're a busy store...

I like it better when they lock some stuff up. The only stores I could find those stupid battery-powered braun razors were the ones who had them locked up and the same for the 9.99 diabetes monitors from a few weeks ago (although I went to one at night and I couldn't get it because the only key was locked away in the pharmacy).

The one on Fremont had a bunch of pain killers and vitamins on clearance up in the front, including a few life fitness things (one under $3). I didn't buy any of them, I figured I'd ask my bf if he wanted the post work-out ones (I think they were a little under $7). They would still cost a bit after the $3 q but he pushes himself pretty hard sometimes so they might be good. I really need to be better at writing information down for the future. I got a different cashier than I usually have, she was another nice one, so far I don't think I've ever had any problems in that store. *knock on wood*

Maybe one day I'll get out to a good SCO and try some crazy stacking once just to say I did it.

Yeah, I've experienced the same over and over and over again at my "home" store. By now, I would have stopped going - it's gotten THAT bad, BUT... they have SCO. No other store in my vicinity has SCO. Not having to deal with the snotty attitudes and reluctance to take my coupons is worth the extra effort for me to scan every item I'm buying at the red kiosks before checking myself out. But, CVS is really sloppy overall when it comes to posting sale prices and keeping their database current with sales. I've had to get price adjustments no fewer than 6 times for items that were priced wrong in their system. Once, I practically got into a fight with a cashier over it! :lmao:

If anyone is still looking for the One Touch Mini, the Santa Monica & 26th St. CVS in Santa Monica has restocked. They had 4 left at 1 PM today. They are priced incorrectly at $24.99 in the system so be sure to bring the Vallasis insert (not CVS weekly ad) which shows the price as FREE w/ coupon thru Saturday 6/23. This is a 24-hour location w/ 24-hour pharmacy w/ SCO but you won't be able to use it for this deal since the coupon requires manual cashier input and manager override. They are locked up in front of the pharmacy area but someone in the pharmacy will have the key.

Okay I've cleared out the Apple Soyjoys at the Baldwin/Las Tunas Store. There are 4 Mango/Coconut and plenty of the rasin and berry left :)

This is only the second time I've been to this store. Both times cashiers were very friendly. Had a smile on her/his face even after I pulled out 16 Soyjoy coupons and 3 CoverGirl coupons

On a positive note, I've now converted most of my ECB into CVS GCs. So at least for a while I don't need to feel embarassed about paying 0.38 oop for a $70+ order :) Even if I was actually paying in ECB I still feel embarassed since they are consider "coupons"

Hahahah... I actually purchased the last one at the Glendale location, when I left Burbank there were some left. Are the Charmins and Bounty really that great of a deal? Can you tell I don't normally shop for this stuff. I pointed to the ad and asked my dad what do you want. On Sunday my sister & I saw like 3-4 people with a cart full of bounty paper towels.

Non-CVS related question: Does anyone know where to get cheap blankets for the beach. I should have gone back to Target, I wonder if the summer stuff is marked down to 75% yet. I'm afraid that Target summer stuff is pretty much done. I gave up on looking awhile ago after it seemed to stay at 50% for too long but I went to the one in West Pasadena tonight and it was 90%. There were only a couple of "flying discs" and some pear martini mixers left. Maybe some of the other stores haven't gone to 90% yet, so there might be some stuff left. If you know what to look for you can always search the beach towel section for misplaced ones.

I hit up the CVS on the way back from Target (Pasadena, on Arroyo), they have the mini monitors but not the other ones. Unfortunately they were out of the bounty paper towels so I didn't end up with anything. I'm not really even sure I want the paper towels. I know I don't get great deals but I buy my TP and paper towels at Costco since they're individually wrapped. We have storage issues that make these ideal, but I am seriously thinking about getting the bounty ones if I can find the monitor in the same store.

The younger Manager or Asst. Manager is very helpful and friendly. You're right that the daytime staff is MUCH more willing to be accomodating. The evening staff has twice told me I can't use CVS coupons and manufacterer's coupons on the same item. Twice I was told in a hostile manner to "prove it." The district manager has spoken with them twice. The daytime staff apologized, but the evening staff is hit and miss. They Asst. Manager at night, a tall male with curly hair, is always watching, ready to open a new register and willing to try coupons as long as they will scan.

Too funny about the soyjoys....Yes I definitely plan on using my 2/10 cvs coupon and yes I recall there were mixed feelings on the thread back then about the cvs tp but it was pretty cheap then and I figured to keep o na roll with that. I'm not SOL for TP as I still have my RC for TP for Scott.

In regards to my beach items, I'll say when the beach towels go on clearance for 25% I think the cheapest towel was like high 3 dollars and change after discount, not the nicest color, some funky reddish color but eh towel is towel. For other beach items give me an idea of what your seeking in regards to this besides the obvious of sunscreen and towels what your in need of an Ill advise what I've done. Now sometimes this will happen but I've not been in Mervyns in a while but they have endcaps that have items on clearance for 50-90% but do not quote me on that as stated above. Just be on the lookout when its buy 1 get 1 sales and then double your savings using 2 coupons for the two items so example is 7.99 hawaiians stuff and then I think there were 2 dollar Qs out there so 4 off so 4 dollars off, 4 dollars for 2 bottles sounds ok deal.. I also have to confess I made a non coupon purchase of that spray bottle with fan for I think it was 8 or 9 dollars. It was a good for me as its a quick refresher and with all the battery deals will have no problem throughout the summer on that which is how that kinda thing kills with the cost of batteries. Ok you all have nice day.

Wow I feel like I have hit the CVS jackpot - had a very good run today. Got everything I was looking for and the cashier was super friendly. FYI the Burbank San Fernado store has lots of Ultra2, everything on the P&G deal, and St. Ive. A couple more notes if you are planning on buying the same item:

The Ultra2 is on sale for 19.99 (free after Sunday coupon) and has a rebate form for up to $70 inside. So make sure you scan your CVS card AFTER scanning the first item, so it'd show up on your receipt as 69.99 (regular price). Not sure if it would work out on the rebate but I don't mind trying for cost of a stamp and envelop :)

If you have the 5/15 St. Ive and VO5 crt - you don't have to buy $15 worth of products. I only brought 4 x $2.99 St Ive and it scanned fine.

Go to edit signature and click on "insert a link" (the globe icon with a paper clip), copy and paste the link into the popup window. And go back to the text version of your signature, replace the second Url link with the text you desire. So my signture text will look like this (the purple part was a really long link before but I replaced with CVS FAQ:

[ URL="http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?sduid=141011&t=476573&highlight=CVS+FAQ"]CVS FAQ[/URL] - Check here before posting your questions on ECB, coupon use, Extra Care card, etc. - credit goes to OP

HTH, and thanks for the rep!

Has anyone found any Coppertone product for less than $9.99? If so, is it in the summer aisle or the suncare aisle?

I live in sgv too. I shop most of the time at a small store on orangegrove&fairoaks. As far as I know the staff is very friendly and I never had any problem stacking $/$ coupons and any other kind of coupons. I have been shopping there since last Oct. I would love to go to the store , If I have to make some bigger transactions stacking the coupons. The photolab girl Bertha is the best cashier for me. She is very nice and 80% of the time she is my cashier.

Tonight I looked at the Coppertone, and there was some for @$7.50 - but since we like the mist kind $9.99, I'm going to wait for the week of 7/1, when it's a $10 ecb for two.

...Yes absolutely wait on the sunscreen deal only, best time to shop the deal then. Also a suggestion to those who have kids that carry backpacks for whenever...The coppertone thats blue and is a duo pack has a small keychain thing attached to it is good for kids or adults to carry along and refill it up with the larger bottle this deal comes with.

I donate the blood glucose monitors to the hospitals. I donated 8 of them to city of hope (cancer hospital). 5 more r ready to go.

I had a bad day today went for shopping when checking out I gave 10 of 50 coupon the shift supervisor told me that it was for nonprescription order and that according to him was drugs which r out of pharmacy and not general store merchandise. I called the CS from the store the CS told him it can be used for general store merchandise.
The manager still did not honor it. I came back and called CS again from home and then said they will send the complaint to corporate.
I am thinking to call the store manager tommorrow morning and tell him what happened

Has anyone looked for the packets of foot scrub in the Valley? I just so happen to have found some in the Chinatown store but didn't want to go digging for my coupons. I wanted to do the Sally hansen deal on my card now.

I really don't like the self-checkout in Chinatown every person that goes up to the machine the security guard looks/ follows their transaction like a hawk.

Now that seriously doesnt sound like fun. And yet did you see we had another 3 day sale. Wish they could've had something more interesting than soda and something like gatorade or propel, the water looks like a good price to get maybe ONE hehehe... Is anyone tired of soda now? I've gotten so much soda originally my fam was estatic about getting soda and it was nice to have and now its like drinking my propel and gatorade up, water will probably be the next thing that goes as well....Soda will sit in my closet and continuously pile up. Oh and just an FYI, there are 2 mentionable coupons that I got in other grocery store inserts for the pepsi deal. Food 4less has the buy 3 pepsi products and get a free 12 packk of Sierra Mist (manufacture coupon but has the food4less logo on it but still Manu Q ) and also theres another coupon in Stater Bros ad for buy 4 pepsi 12 packs and get 3x 2ltr bottles of pepsi (manufacture coupon which stater bros logo on it but say Man Q).... Is pepsi like trying to push all of this on us consumers or what.

Oh gosh gee oh golly.....Gonna take a peek @ next weeks post ad. Seeing if theres anything I need haha..... Although as one says you can never have enough of anything.

Ok thereis the gatorade propel in the buy 1 get 1 deal WOO HOO and theres a man Q for that approx 60cents each And then a nice umbrella and more sunscreen and as noted the Meds are finally here.

If anyone still needs soy joy the store on valley/new has a box full of the green ones and mostly full boxes of the other three kinds. No extra boxes though and no glucose meters, bounty, or napkins. I looked at the sunscreen too, I didn't see any Coppertone stuff under 9.49. I bought out all the scotch wrap, but I didn't wipe out anything else.

I had a pretty good trip today. I bought a bunch of scotch mailing stuff- wrap and tape. We go through a ton of this stuff (bf sells collectible junk on ebay), I think everyone in the Alhambra post office knows me by now. I was planning to use the email change 4/20 since every other time I go the cashiers start taking off coupons before they take off the prices for the BOGO stuff - but not this time. I had $16 in scotch stuff (plus $5 of Hershey's dark chocolate) and he told me the total was $13+. I handed over the 4/20 and hoped for the best, he barely looked at it and immediately put it through and asked if I had anything else (I tried not to laugh). I figured he was pretty easy going so I might as well try the 4/20 go to cvs.com CRT since I wasn't sure if every cashier would even try scanning it, it worked, so I gave him a $2 ECB and my q's for the chocolate to get the total down to 57 cents. He seemed fairly entertained to see the total get so low. So, cute Asian guy at the valley/new store is great about coupons. :)
It was a little sad not to get anything back, I even thought about buying a tube of toothpaste just so I'd get a little something back, but even with all the toothpaste we've given away there's still a lot here. The little machine printed a CRT for 10/50 so that makes me feel better.

As if that wasn't enough to be a good trip, I also had a good experience with the post office woman who usually doesn't like me and I got in and out of Costco fast. :)

sorry about the trip, joyce, I hope the traffic will be at least somewhat merciful

I looked at the ad for the next 2 weeks and don't really see much worth buying (nothing I really need and nothing really good deal). I don't drink soda or energy drinks so the 3 days sale is not much excitement for me either. Luckily my ECBs don't expire until 7/20 so hopefully something good comes up before then.

I am seriously thinking this is a big marketing conspiracy by CVS - reeled us in with all the good deals in March and April, and then slowly tightens up the deals

Maybe that is so with a marketing conspiracy as I think so as well. Went to cvs today to try and buy one of the Meters and well see I had a different coupon from the rest of you all and big mistake in such I did everything by the dang book I bought 70+ dollars worth of stuff and the coupon was for up to 74.99 and it would only allow up to 70 dollars on the dang meter. so what is up with that. I used 2 money offs to equal 70 dollars and had an excess amt of misc items to make the money offs and man and cvs Qs and oh it was a disaster but the cashier here was helpful. in such that it was ok.....Oh I got all my icecreams, all 6 of them since I realized I ran out of Qs and used them before. Oh I am getting tired of this stuff of having to deal with beeping sounds mgr overrides and one thing after another. I think I got jipped but by the time I walked out my patience was gone...

In case anyone still wants them, the CVS in Arcadia (on South Baldwin) has 4 heartbeat books in the display near the pharmacy. This is the only store I have ever seen these. I took the only one I saw a few weeks ago and took two tonight, I don't know if they just put more out sometimes or not. The coupons expire soon, but they're good for a few more days.

I've gotten credit for all the colgate I've bought over the 1 that its printing for either in gift card or cash. Also to let you know the HORROR cvs in La Puente (24 hr location) has burts bees items down to 62 cents. 2 buckets of stuff same as before that was previously at 1.25 is now 62 cents. Oh and the mean lady was not there when I went and cashier was a cashier (no out of ordinary but not mean) Also that security dude was not there either, I think it was just those individuals that I had bad luck with. I'm a content customer for tonight.

Has anyone down here found Burt's Bee stuff on sale? I've looked but no such luck. I did find some of their purses on sale for 90% off which made it $1.49. They had them in white & red. I bought 4. Found a new CVS today and was able to get the $70 overage on contour. I just tried it for the heck of it... and happy that I got it.

Congrats on the overage! I've been afraid to try, I need to at least shoot for getting the monitor free.

I saw some Burt's Bees with the clearance stuff in Glendale. They were sets in boxes but it still seemed pretty expensive. Hopefully I'll be able to run by that one this afternoon and I'll scan them to see and try to remember what they are specifically.
Where did you find the purses?

Yes do do tell ....I so need a purse to put all my STUFF~~~ in.
Also gotta start saving for some plastic containers to organize the stuff neatly. Oh if anyone wants to trade me I've got a coupon for freestyle meter up to 74.99 so you can use the 15/75 Q on this ....Nice and easy but just fyi make sure you dont put too many money money offs cuz it will screw up and only allow you so much credit towards the 73 and change which is the price for cheapest.

I'm not sure if this is close enough to anyone, but I actually remembered to write a couple of things down.

Glendale CVS-
Burt's Bees Buttermilk Lotion 7 oz. $1.99
Burt's Bees Foot Patrol (red bag) with lotion, creme, and cuticle cream $4.99
Burt's Bees mini lotions (set of three) $7.99

They had a bunch of other stuff too but those were the most interesting. There were a bunch of vitamins and some make-up that still seemed over-priced. The rolling shelves the clearance is on used to be in the front of the store, but today it was near the back, close to the wine.

I decided to give the monitor coupon a shot, hoping to get 9.99 off, but they wouldn't take it. Oh well, with the new $/$$ coupons I did really well anyway. This was my second time stacking a bunch of those, the manager had to come for the 15/75 and stayed to watch the whole thing, apart from being a bit snippy and refusing the monitor coupon, he said nothing about all the $/$$s.

It was the CVS on Sherman way & Topanga... or near Topanga. Hmm.. I wonder how much it would be to ship them. I'll look into that and maybe just buy a bunch to send out. I haven't seen them on clearance anywhere else.

Is this the Glendale store off of Glenoaks? I know they have clearance racks in the front. The monitor coupon usually never works for me, but I figured it's about to expire what the heck.
